A: Yes. Both the top and bottom have thick, built-in rigid panels for stability and protection. There are similar L-shaped rigid panels that must be placed in the sides by the purchaser. Thus all surfaces all around are rigid and protected. (I have not owned this item very long, thus haven't tested it fully loaded yet.)
