Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I have a 30mm camera lens, and a 37mm fisheye, do I need a step up or step down ring?

A: This step-up ring is the one you need.

Q: 2. Would these be compatible with a Haida-brand ND filter? Thanks!

A: The Sensei 82mm Step-Up Ring Kit has the same pitch thread size as Haida filters; therefore, you can connect Haida ND filters to any of the Sensei step-up rings.

Q: 3. Greetings! Is this the .5 fine thread or the standard .75 thread? I wish to use on a Polaroid 180 and don't want to trash the threads. Thanks!

A: The Heliopan 46-49mm Step-Up Ring uses standard threads, and are excellent quality step-up rings with brass construction.

Q: 4. The description says it's aluminum, but the reviews say it's brass - which is it?

A: Aluminum, without a doubt. I have brass step up rings as well, they are substantially heavier than this ring.Let that not reflect poorly on the craftsmanship however; it is still a superbly machined piece of metal with precise fit and finish.

Q: 5. 49 mm is a common thread size for Sony and mft lenses, so I think the small 37mm is also a mft and small bayonet lenses, so, I think it's good to step for this kind of lenses

A: Is this a question or a statement?

Q: 6. What is the thread pitch for the 39mm side of the Sensei PRO 39-52mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring?

A: 0.75mm

Q: 7. can I use a 82mm series 9 non threaded filter on this step up ring?

A: Unfortunately, we have not made use of this ring yet and cannot give any advice on it yet. Apologies

Q: 8. What is the thread pitch on this step-up ring?

A: Unfortunately we do not have the measurement of the pitch to provide you with. I contacted the manufacturer and they stated it is within the common pitch of your major brand filters we carry (Hoya, Tiffen, B+W etc).

Q: 9. If I want to go from a 37mm lens to a 77mm filter would I stack all these rings together?

A: It is possible, however I would advise you to try using as few rings as possible to avoid vignette. As well, you will need to make sure that the filter you are using is absolutely clean to avoid focusing issues.

Q: 10. Is the black color with matte finish inside?

A: Yes, the black color and finish covers the entire step up ring.

[37 mm to 49 mm] I tried three different step-up rings for my lx100 and the Heliopan was the only of three that didn't cause a lens error when the lens was retracted. If you're in the same boat, this is the one to go for!

[37 mm to 49 mm] I not only got this size, but also some other Heliopan brass step up rings for my Leica M lenses, and all went on silky smooth...no binding like aluminum ones...very satisfied and would recommend

[Brass] Well made and sturdy. I got it as a make-shift hood for the tiny Panasonic 12-32mm which does not come with a hood for its minuscule 37mm filter thread. Although a 37-52mm step-up ring might make more sense depending on what filters or polarizers you want to attach.

[0.05 lb] Cheap, but does what it's meant to do.

[Brass] I needed this for a crazy task: converting my ancient (1952?) Leitz Elmar 9cm (90mm) lens to accept a 49mm lens hood or lens cap to be used on a Canon EOS M6 Mark II. It's a great old lens, great new camera (and because the sensor is APS-C, it's only using the center of this excellent lens). I already had an old Tiffen adapter ring to mount a Series VI UV filter, and it screwed into the 39mm front threads of the lens. I did not have a 44mm lens cap or hood to screw into that Series VI adapter, but did have some spares of each in 49mm.

Bizarre and probably a little confusing, I know.

This step-up ring bridged the gap, and everything fits great with no vignetting caused by the Tiffen metal lens hood, which screws into the step-up ring just like the metal lens cap pictured. (Nice to have a good lens hood when shooting in full sun with an old single-coated lens).

[37 mm to 49 mm] It allows you to use the filters for the other e mount lens (49mm) on the full frame (67mm) lens. Their cropped but it works. Especially if it's a specialized filter that you spent a lot of money on.

[3 x 2.3 x 0.6"] I have older version of Leica R 35/2 lens. It takes 48mm filters or I can use step-up rings for 52mm or any larger size filters. Well, the problem is that 48mm filters can be hardly found. If I did find them, they are very expensive. So I purchased 48-52mm step up ring by Heliopan that is what I review now. Heliopan step up rings are fantastic, because they are brass rings, not aluminum ones. They will not bind nor cross thread either. I have all sort of step up rings by B+W, but they are anodized aluminum. I don't trust their rigidity. Also they sometimes are stuck with filter rims, so binding is a real problem with any brand name step-up, -down rings as long as they are made from aluminum. Heliopan 48-52 mm ring is a bit heavy, but I like its solid feel and it gives me a worry free confidence from binding or cross thread. It will last than any filters or myself for that matter!

[Brass] I recently purchased a Zeiss 1:1.4/50 for my EOS 7D and thought that my Raynox DCR-1850Pro Teleconverter Lens 1.85x which I used with my Dimage camera, might be adapted to this lens. I installed this step-down ring between the two and now enjoy a 100mm+/- lens along with my great Zeiss 50mm. I store the two attached and separate as needed. The high quality of this ring makes this possible; shows little wear after much use. I am thouroughly satisfied with this ring and highly reccomend it. ( Watch for the green light,Luke, a manual focus lens, it is!)
