Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Greetings! Is this the .5 fine thread or the standard .75 thread? I wish to use on a Polaroid 180 and don't want to trash the threads. Thanks!

A: The Heliopan 46-49mm Step-Up Ring uses standard threads, and are excellent quality step-up rings with brass construction.

Q: 2. can I use a 82mm series 9 non threaded filter on this step up ring?

A: Unfortunately, we have not made use of this ring yet and cannot give any advice on it yet. Apologies

Q: 3. I'm a novice to this but what is the difference between knurling and no knurling?

A: No knurling is smooth around the edges, and knurling gives you little ridges for better grip.

Q: 4. If I want to go from a 37mm lens to a 77mm filter would I stack all these rings together?

A: It is possible, however I would advise you to try using as few rings as possible to avoid vignette. As well, you will need to make sure that the filter you are using is absolutely clean to avoid focusing issues.

Q: 5. The description says it's aluminum, but the reviews say it's brass - which is it?

A: Aluminum, without a doubt. I have brass step up rings as well, they are substantially heavier than this ring.Let that not reflect poorly on the craftsmanship however; it is still a superbly machined piece of metal with precise fit and finish.

Q: 6. is this for general lenses? i have a canon 50mm (nifty fifty) will this work on it?

A: The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 has a 49mm filter threading. This is adapter allows you to put a 62mm filter on a lens with a 49mm thread. It will work with the Canon 50mm F/1.8, B&H # CA5018EFSTM.

Q: 7. What is the thread pitch on this step-up ring?

A: Unfortunately we do not have the measurement of the pitch to provide you with. I contacted the manufacturer and they stated it is within the common pitch of your major brand filters we carry (Hoya, Tiffen, B+W etc).

Q: 8. Will thisgive me a vignet if i use it on a sony 16-35mm lens and an 82mm polarizing filter?

A: I dont think so. As somebody said the sensor size could play a role, although it never happened to me.

Q: 9. If I have a 30mm camera lens, and a 37mm fisheye, do I need a step up or step down ring?

A: This step-up ring is the one you need.

Q: 10. Can use Nisi V5/V5 Pro?

A: This is step up ring set , to use Nisi V5/V5 you will still need Nisi adapter ring

[34 mm to 49 mm] It allows you to use the filters for the other e mount lens (49mm) on the full frame (67mm) lens. Their cropped but it works. Especially if it's a specialized filter that you spent a lot of money on.

[0.05 lb] I recently purchased a Zeiss 1:1.4/50 for my EOS 7D and thought that my Raynox DCR-1850Pro Teleconverter Lens 1.85x which I used with my Dimage camera, might be adapted to this lens. I installed this step-down ring between the two and now enjoy a 100mm+/- lens along with my great Zeiss 50mm. I store the two attached and separate as needed. The high quality of this ring makes this possible; shows little wear after much use. I am thouroughly satisfied with this ring and highly reccomend it. ( Watch for the green light,Luke, a manual focus lens, it is!)

[0.05 lb] I needed this for a crazy task: converting my ancient (1952?) Leitz Elmar 9cm (90mm) lens to accept a 49mm lens hood or lens cap to be used on a Canon EOS M6 Mark II. It's a great old lens, great new camera (and because the sensor is APS-C, it's only using the center of this excellent lens). I already had an old Tiffen adapter ring to mount a Series VI UV filter, and it screwed into the 39mm front threads of the lens. I did not have a 44mm lens cap or hood to screw into that Series VI adapter, but did have some spares of each in 49mm.

Bizarre and probably a little confusing, I know.

This step-up ring bridged the gap, and everything fits great with no vignetting caused by the Tiffen metal lens hood, which screws into the step-up ring just like the metal lens cap pictured. (Nice to have a good lens hood when shooting in full sun with an old single-coated lens).

[34 mm to 49 mm] Hefty, durable ring. Dense brass. Smooth threads. Optimal release properties. Works best with THIN ring filters. Old style, thick ring filters will have longer male threads, causing the filter end to hit bottom before filter shoulder makes contact with Step-Up ring rim. Regardless, it works.
