The Smart-AVI IR-EYE Infrared Remote Control Receiverfrom Smart-AVI IR-EYE Infrared Remote Control Receiveris an IR receiver which receives infrared signals from your remote control and sends them to your media center device by way of an infrared extender (sold separately); this allows you to place your media center device in a centralized location which is not in the line-of sight of your display. The IR-EYE is designed to work in combination with the IR-LED transmitter (sold separately); the IR-LED inputs the wired signal from the infrared extender and transmits it via IR to your media center device. The receiver can be used with audio visual equipment, home appliances, infrared remote control toys, industrial control devices, CATV set top boxes, optical switches, and more.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you replace the battery in it ?

A: The battery is not replaceable. The instruction sheet that comes packed with the remote states that.

Q: 2. Please tell me if the Pentax 39892 remote's compatibility with the Optio WG-2 include starting/stopping video capture.

A: The Pentax Waterproof Infrared Remote Control is compatible with the WG-2. You can use it both to take a photo and to start/stop video.

Q: 3. Whats the best remote for a Pentax K50

A: The Pentax Waterproof Infrared Remote Control B&H # PERCWP MFR # 39892 is compatible with the Pentax K-50. It is infrared so it is line of site and does now work as well in daylight compared to a radio remote shutter. Some of those are listed below.

Q: 4. Is this fully compatible with the Pentax K-3ii?

A: Yes, it is fully functional with the K3 II.

Q: 5. I have a Pentax K-30. I bought this and cannot seem to get it to work if I'm standing behind the camera on a tripod. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better choice?

A: Yes, This remote is an IR trigger, which means it is line of sight. If you are behind the camera,, the camera does not see the signal from the remote.Best way around this is to stand off to one side out of the field of view of the lens you are using.I have K3 and K20d bodies. My copy of this remote works with both.Hope this helps.JJ

Q: 6. Will the remote work from any angle to the K-1, i.e., in front of the camera, below the camera, to the side of the camera, etc.?

A: It requires line-of-sight in fairly close proximity. It works well within those limitations. The K1 has a receiver for the remote on both the FRONT and BACK of the camera so you have pretty good latitude. I use the remote and a tripod for rock solid performance with my K-1. :-)

Q: 7. To use this with a Pentax 645z, do you have to point it at the back of the camera, or can you use it in front of the camera?

A: The remote is an infrared (IR) device. There is an IR sensor on both the front and the back of the camera, both of which blink a red light when you have set the camera to operate with the remote. Point the remote at the blinking red light.

Q: 8. Does this remote work with the Pentax K20D?

A: The Pentax Waterproof Infrared Remote Control is not listed as compatible with the Pentax K20D DSLR Camera.

Q: 9. Will this remote work through a glass window?

A: Yes if it is in line of sight at around 15 to 20 feet distance

Q: 10. So, this is NOT compatible with the KP camera model?

A: Unfortunately, the Pentax KP is not compatible with the Pentax Waterproof Infrared Remote Control.

[TTL] It's very handy to have a remote that can be used in bad weather, dropped into snow, puddles, and so on. The remote works with my K-5. Range seems to be around 15 feet. The zoom button (middle button) activates autofocus, and the orange button releases the shutter. The Fn button does not do anything with the K-5. It's probably worth it to get this remote with the K-5 instead of the non-waterproof one unless you really like the tiny, tiny size of the standard remote. For me, the standard remote was too small, and hard to use with cold or wet hands.

[IR-LED type 3] Depending on the camera not all the buttons have a function, but it does exactly as intended.

[10 x 8 x 7"] I use this with a Pentax K5. Works exactly as expected. It probably should have came as standard equipment with the the camera, since it didn't, it is "must have" accessory.

[Up to 95%] This remote has easy-to-use buttons, unlike the old Pentax remote. I also like the lanyard option, since Pentax eliminated the remote storage slot in the battery tray of the battery grip. I have not had a chance to try the two white buttons yet, but I am sure they will come in handy.

[10 x 8 x 7"] I have had two previous Pentax wireless remotes (I still have them). This one is much easier to use, its waterproof, and it has more features than the old ones.

[0.2 lb (0.1 kg)] Focus and shoot. Simple as that. Took all of 5 seconds to get use to... ie in Continuous mode you press once to start shooting and again to stop (not hold down)... same in Bulb mode. This is a little opposite to wired remotes I have used where you hold the button down. Has a Fn button that the K-5 does not use... not idea why. No points off for that since I can't think of a use for it. Just took some nice shots of the Milky Way, 20 seconds exposure, no shake,

[10 x 8 x 7"] ...and it works... remotely. Nice piece, very convenient. The weather sealing is, as with all Pentax gear, a plus. Worth the money.
