Improving on the design of the original, the Radial Tonebone Bassbone V2 Preamp & DI Boxfrom Radial Tonebone Bassbone V2 Preamp & DI Boxis a 2-channel preamp that allows you to connect 1 or 2 basses to a single amplifier, PA, or recording destination, and also includes a boost function and switchable effects loop. Each channel offers independent level control for matching signals, along with independent EQ to suit different basses or styles. A balanced XLR output lets you connect to a PA or recording interface, while the 1/4" amplifier out allows you to hit your amp simultaneously.

A boost/mute switch allows you to either boost your signal, or mute it entirely. The effects send can be switched on and off, and even includes a blend knob that lets you adjust your wet/dry blend, and can be applied to channel 1 or channel 2, or both. A piezo booster allows you to connect a piezo pickup with no signal loss.

Q: 1. I have Yamaha MWC12 mixer and would like to record directly with a videa camcorder using beachtec DXA-2T. Can I use the RCA rec out or Dual TRS out to connect to this box and connect to DXA-2T via xlr cable and record stereo sound? Thanks.

A: The Radial PRO AV1 is a single channel output unit that sums the incoming stereo signal to a balanced mono output.

Q: 2. Will turning the trim knob down all the way mute the output? Or will there still be a noticeable signal?

A: It is a trim not a mute so depending on the source you may hear it at a low level with the trim all the way down.

Q: 3. Does it support 24bit/48khz?

A: It supports 44.1 or 48 khz at 16 bit.

Q: 4. Can the XLR output into a stereo pre-amp ?

A: Per the instructions: Left and right XLR outputs - Balanced low impedance (600 ohm) level outputs. Connects to mic input on mixing console. Hope that helps.

Q: 5. This product description shows the MK3 version with Jensen transformers - is this accurate?

A: Yes - this product offers Jensen transformers.

Q: 6. Office space has digital audio system installed like a crestron setup, with in ceiling speakers, and microphones. The setup has a USB output for audio, would this work to convert to XLR?

A: The Peavey USB-P - USB "Direct Box" for Outputting Computer Audio to PA System is designed to convert a computer's digital audio output to analog signal and is powered via its USB connection to the computer. The USB-P would not work to convert signal in a similar manner with a device that is sending signal into a computer over USB.

Q: 7. ProAV1 Can this unit output to a laptop's 1/8 microphone input for recording audio from a mixer?

A: No. The Pro AV1 converts consumer input (1/8) to balanced out (XLR) - the opposite of what you want. Radial makes the J-ISO and Pro-ISO that will do what you want. The J-ISO uses a Jensen transformer and is the one you want for studio recording. The J-PRO is good for broadcast use for recording vocal range audio and is cheaper than the J-PRO.

Q: 8. This portable? The included external power supply AC or Dc ? If this power supply is Ac, what do I need or use for remote field operation?

A: The PreSonus BlueTube DP v2 requires 12VDC to operate. Power adapter is included. The unit is not designed for field use.

Q: 9. Can you plug in two of these into one laptop and then use 4 outputs for a live situation? specially looking at using albeton live to play tracks.

A: I own Two of these. I Just tried it and it wont work like that. they are two separate units.

Q: 10. The top surface has a "mono/sum" printed on it. Is there a right-side switch which sums both inputs to one of the outputs?

A: The Mono/Sum switch on the right side of the Radial Engineering Trim-Two Stereo DI with Volume Control converts both outputs to dual mono, so using either output will deliver the same exact mono signal, so you have the option of using both outputs or just one output for your setup.

[Up to +25 dB] I bought the 2 Radial Di boxes to feed guitars into my Otari Concept One console and as I suspected I was very pleased. The sound is crystal clean and un-colored. I use them for both recording and live work. You won't be disappointed with this product. 5

[Standard DI] I have purchased several turntable pre-amps and they lasted a short while. This one is substantial and audio reference. I expect it to last a long, long time. Excellent sound reproduction. 5

[-100 dB] If you can afford it, sure, get the JDI Duplex with the Jensen transformers, but this model is a workhorse for live gigs for me. Both are well constructed. Personally, I prefer passive transformer DIs for live gigs - they're more reliable and less problematic. There are more things that can go wrong in using a 48V Direct box - some of which produce very loud pops. You can't kill these transformer equipped ones. 5

[Standard DI] After many hours of reading reviews of Turntable preamps I decided on the J33 for several reasons. 1) Radial has an outstanding reputation with live sound and recording engineers. 2) One of the only units with XLR (Balanced) outputs. I'm using this with a Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable. Connected the L/R RCA outputs of the J33 into a Harmon Kardon amplifier for listening through Klipsch Forte speakers. The L/R XLR outputs into Presonus AI24 Mixer. The Presonus is connected to a Mac running Pro Tools. Main purpose of this is to allow conversion of vinyl (not available commercially in digital format) to digital format with Pro Tools in my recording studio. The meters in Pro Tools show almost -inf noise floor with the J33. That is very impressive. There literally is no audible hum from the J33 or the Linn. The J33 is also built like a tank. Very happy with my choice and would highly recommend this device for anyone wanting to add a preamp to their turntable. 5
