Q: 1. Hi ... What is the difference between the Heliopan #143 62/77mm Step-Up Ring, and the Heliopan #144 62/77mm Step-Up Ring??? The descriptions do not say ... other than price, of course. ...Robert G.

A: The Heliopan ring, # 700-144 is a special model that can accept both 77mm threaded filters, as well as Series 8.5 type filters. Our product link for this model on our website is slowly being changed to reflect the new information we received about it since receiving your inquiry.

Q: 2. Does this cause heavy vignetting with prime lenses for example 50mm?

A: No, you should not get vignetting with a 50mm lens.

Q: 3. What is the height protrusion of the ring above the lens?

A: Sensei PRO 72-67mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring is 3.5mm tall above the threads.

Q: 4. Is this m52 x 0.75 male thread? Also, what is the external diameter of this step down ring? Thanks

A: Yes, the 52mm end is male. I'm sorry but the external diameter is not available, you can contact Heliopan for more specific info; HeliopanDistributed By - H.P. Marketing CorporationTel: 800-735-4373 Website http://www.hpmarketingcorp.com/ Email info@hpmarketingcorp.com

Q: 5. Does this help with vignetting when using a smaller filter?

A: No

Q: 6. Any observed drawbacks when used on a Sony G-Master 85mm (77mm) with a 72mm Zeiss Polarizer ?

A: There will always be issues using a smaller size filter than the filter threads of the lens. Most notably you are likely to get vignetting.

Q: 7. Will these fit on a Canon lens?

A: This General Brand Step-Down Ring Kit would be compatible with Canon lenses, but it depends on the filter size of the lens.

Q: 8. Hi what is the outer diameter of this Step-up Ring?Actually I am looking for a Push-on lens cap...Any brand that you recommend, which fits?Thank you

A: Rather than a push-on cap, you will be better off using a Hood Hat type of covering, such as those seen at the following link: http://bhpho.to/1w9ZAZT

Q: 9. I'll be using this on my 85mm Tessar ZM which has 43mm filter thread. All of my filters (CPL and ND) have 39mm filter thread. Will my 85mm Lens vignette by using this item?

A: Anytime you use a step-down ring to use a smaller filter on the front of a lens with a larger filter diameter, you run the risk of obtaining some vignetting. Unfortunately, we have no way to test or guarantee which lens/focal length combinations. While vignetting would normally be more noticeable with wide angle lenses compared to telephoto lenses, I cannot guarantee you will not get vignetting. The best I can state would be to purchase the item and see if it works for your needs, and if it does not, you would have 30 days to return the item for an exchange or refund via our 30-Day Return Policy on this item.

Q: 10. What is the overall diameter of this step-down adapter ring?

A: There are no published measurements of the diameter of the Heliopan Bay 1-30.5 Step-Down Ring (#305).

[0.1 lb] This allows me to use all my filters with my new lens. I chose brass because it will not distort and always is easy to remove.

[Side] ... This step-down ring was a special order because of it's uncommon size and I had to wait a little while for it to come from the manufacturer but it was well worth the wait! It's built exceptionally well, it performs as it should and now I am able to mate my vintage spiratone curvatar to my 58mm canon eos lenses for an inexpensive but fun fisheye effect. It really is a simple item but if you need one it's good to know you can obtain one!
