The 24" TA3F to 3-Pin XLR Male Y-Cable Adapteris an unbalanced stereo breakout cable designed to connect the TA3F tape output of a Sound Devices 664, 552, and 302 to the XLR inputs of a mixer or other pro-audio gear. The cable is terminated with a TA3F at one end and dual, color-coded 3-pin XLR male connectors at the other.

A: you cannot use this with a phantom powered mic unless the mic is a self powered model containing a battery

A: This particular cable is a mono ts connection on the 3.5mm connector. It would only see the L channel of a stereo signal. There are no resistors in this cable.

Q: 4. How is the connection from XLR (+, -, gnd) to RCA which has 2 pin like? Do you have XLR to 2 RCA?

A: 3-pin XLR is a mono connector only, so there would be no benefit to an XLR to dual RCA adapter cable. When you adapt XLR to an unbalanced connection such as RCA or TS, pin 3 is discarded and the signal becomes unbalanced (Hot and Ground only).

Q: 5. Are all 4 pins wired?

A: NO! The wire is 2 conductor, and only pins 1 & 4 are connected. Does not work as power/control cable for TigerTilt pan-tilt head. Disappointing!

[Unbalanced] I know it seems unlikely, but we have two vintage Sony Beta SP players -- a 1200 and a 1600 -- that look identical, but the XLR outputs are reversed, with one having male and one having female. Normally, an XLR cable is male to female; in our case, we needed male to male. The adapters arrived promptly and worked perfectly. 5

[0.21 lb] I used the GXX144 Male 3-Pin XLR to Male 3-Pin XLR Adapter (Gender Changer)yesterday at a lecture event at a local college. You never know for sure how some facilities wire out the audio feeds and it can vary from building to building within the same organization. This makes this adapter a must additions to the other 100 adapters I already carry with me. Yes...I was a Boy Scout and always try to be prepared as much as possible. 5

[Unbalanced] My camera is a Canon XA10 and my Mic is an old 1950's Electro-Voice 664. On the XA10 (also from BH) the XLR is of course male as is the end of my XLR cable coming from the Mic. The moment I got this adaptor I was surprised by its weight. It's a good solid piece that feels good in the hand. The silver powder coat on it is thick and done well...I am impressed with this little piece that seems so nominal but is extremely important overall. For the price I must admit I was expecting something somewhat cheap but it is the opposite in being well made and the fitment is perfect. 5
