Wide-angle prime lens is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 24mm equivalent focal length.

Notably fast f/1.4 maximum aperture affords increased control over depth of field and greatly benefits working in low-light conditions.

Two extra-low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity.

Two aspherical elements control distortion, curvature of field, and spherical aberrations, which helps to improve sharpness and realize more accurate rendering.

Nano-GI (Gradient Index) coating has been applied to lens elements and alters the refractive index between the glass and air in order to better suppress lens flare and ghosting for diagonal incident light.

HT-EBC coating has also been applied the entire surface of each element to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

A quick and quiet autofocus motor pairs with a two-group floating focus system to achieve precise focus and consistent image quality throughout the focusing range, from the 5.9" minimum focusing distance to infinity.

Integrated depth of field scale benefits working with zone focusing and pre-focusing techniques.

Weather-resistant design includes nine different seals in eight areas to prevent dust and moisture from entering the lens and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions and freezing temperatures as low as 14°F.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens work on Fujifilm Xpro1? Would you recommend this one or Fujifilm 18mm f/2.0?

A: Yes, it does. i bought for my X-Pro1, and then switched t the X-Pro2. it works perfectly on both cameras. It is really an amazing lens and is top quality optic. i prefer it to the 18mm f/2.0 for several reasons:a 24mm equivalent is a better lens for landscapeIt is one full stop faster than the 18mm, so better in low light conditions and it allows you to create amazing bokehIt is weather resistantHope it helps

Q: 2. does this lens have internal focusing so its length does notching while focusing?

A: Yes, this lens has internal focus.

Q: 3. is this lens good for Alaska?

A: It depends on the type of photography you'll be doing in Alaska. This lens would be great for landscape type photography but not great for the wildlife.

Q: 4. What does WR stand for?

A: WR stands for Weather Resistant . The lens has many seals to protect it from dust and moisture. These lenses will be much more resistant to hard work when used outdoor.

Q: 5. going to Alaska would this be a good lens?

A: It depends on what kind of photography you're doing in Alaska. This lens is great for landscape photos but not great for photographing wildlife.

Q: 6. what does it mean by (35mm equivalent) ?

A: The Fujifilm X series of camera utilizes a smaller APS-C-sized sensor, sometimes referred to as a crop-sensor. What it means is that the focal length given on an XF lens has to be multiplied by 1.5 due to the APS-C sensor, so 16 x 1.5 = 24mm if you were shooting with the larger (full-frame) sensor. Fujifilm does not currently offer a full-frame sensor in their mirrorless line of cameras/lenses. Hope that helps.

Q: 7. how is this lens for Video ? any distortion ?

A: Yes....have used it quite a bit. This is one of the 3 XF lenses that has an option for good manual focus which is preferred for cinema style focus pulling. The other 2 are the 14mm and the 23mm 1.4.

Q: 8. Can I use this to an E-mount camera? If not, is there any adapter for this lens to fit in an E-mount camera?

A: There are some cameras that have adapters that will allow a fuji lens to fit, check out that

Q: 9. Does this XF16mm lens focus at the infinity mark in manual focus mode ?

A: Yes, although I'm not sure I understand the point of the question. When in manual focus mode, pulling the focus clutch towards you reveals the DOF scale and allows the focus ring to move. Using Fuji's focus peaking you can nail the focus, and when focused on infinity, the DOF scale reads infinity.

Q: 10. What kind of photography is this lens suited for the most?

A: This is a great lens for landscape photography. It's 24mmm wide angle equivalent will provide ideal framing for grandiose vistas and provides great depth of field. It is also extremely well suited for nighttime shooting (stars, star trails) thanks to its combination of wide angle and its wide f1.4 opening. It is also useful for group portrait when space is limited.

[1.56 lb] Amazing minimal close focusing distance and fast autofocus (on x-pro3). Images are tack sharp and image quality is on par with Sony's lenses. While it is comparably a larger lens than the Fuji f/2 primes, I do not consider it a large lens at all coming from a past Sigma 35mm Art owner and current Sony A7Rii user. Build quality is amazing and paired with the metal hood this is a winner.

[APS-C] Joined Fuji from Nikon, and this is the best lens I have had.
Low light is incredible, sharpness is great.
The only Con I think feel and think of is just the focusing motor noise.
If the noise isn't an issue, then you won't feel regret after purchase.

[FUJIFILM X] The lens works a little differently than most lens so read the simple directions (auto vs manual focus.) The test images were fantastic. I was impressed by the close focusing.

[67 mm (Front)] I love how this lens feels on my X-E2s. So many reviews claim that its big and heavy; dont let that scare you. I was worried the XF 16mm would be too big for the X-E2s, but it feels awesome, like a hardy tool. This lens does it all. I use it for street, landscapes and life/documentary. It has cured my Gear Acquisition Syndrome because any time Im interested in a new fixed lens camera, or another lens, I cant justify the purchase because this lens already makes stellar pictures in a wide variety of situations. I was especially surprised by the exceptional colors and contrast. Auto focus hunts in low light, but the easy manual mode fixes that. Bokeh is beautiful at f1.4. This lens is so versatile, I imagine the only other lens youd need in your kit is a telephoto zoom.

[f/1.4] I’ve been wanting to get into astrophotography for some time but my current lens collection didn’t give me the depth to be able to do so. Not anymore...this lens is amazing and captures the night sky crisp and clear. And as others have stated, the bokeh is pretty amazing. An expensive lens for sure but a must for your kit.

[Autofocus] So I recently received this lens just before Christmas. I purchased this lens based on the reviews I saw online and via YouTube. So far the lens has exceeded my expectations completely. The close focusing abilities have made this my go to lens for pictures of the family (twins the most recent addition). The lens is a little on the larger size compared to the more compact 16mm f2.8, therefore placing it close to my Children’s face has been challenging. I thought I loved the 23mm f1.4 but I can see myself using this lens a lot more than the 23mm. The field of view created with this lens has blown me away. This paired with my X-T3 I can see being my One Camera, One Lens, system for the New Year. Thanks B&H for timely delivery as well.

[0.21x] Functions smoothly on a solid build. Haven't used it excessively yet but early indications lead me to believe I will very soon. Appears to track well with my XT-4.Color is great and images are tac sharp. Very nice addition to my bag!

[Autofocus] Few months ago I purchased X-T3 with 16-80mm, and I have been happy with the system, even though the lens lacked the sharpness that I wished for (didn't expect a miracle from a zoom lens anyways). But this lens... OMG! Yes the price is high but the build quality is excellent (all metal solid) but the picture quality is also excellent. Sharp wide open at f1.4 but super sharp when stopped down just a little.

Great investment if you building a Fuji system.

[f/1.4] This lens has of course been around for many years now, so you know everything you want to about it. But I just finally got my own and I can absolutely say it lives up to the legend! I tend to shoot close up details, street scenes, landscapes, and dabble in astrophotography all as a novice enthusiast, and this lens ticks every box for everything I want to do. There's just something about this lens that makes me want to go out and shoot all the time, and in the end isn't that the point?
