Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm looking at using this cable to connect my PC audio out to the 'B' input of the Mackie Big Knob Passive Studio Monitor Controller. I'd use the Mackie's 'A' input to connect my soundcard output. Can I expect to have any issues (interference, etc.)? Are there better options? Thanks

A: That should work just fine. If you want a better made cable we also offer B&H # AUEVERG01.5M

Q: 2. Can I use this cable to go from my pickup jack in my guitar to two amps?

A: The Hosa Technology STP-204 Stereo 1/4" Male to 2 Mono 1/4" Male Y-Cable will only work with your guitar if it is wired with a stereo output signal which is not a common configuration for a typical electric guitar. If your guitar has standard wiring with mono output signal, the Hosa Technology 1/4" Male to Two 1/4" Female Y-Cable (B&H # HOYCPM2PF) would be the more ideal solution to split the guitar's signal out to two amplifiers at the same time. Standard instrument cables can be used to connect from the female jacks on the Y-cable to the input jack on each amplifier.

Q: 3. Is this a mono XLR or a 2 channel XLR cable?

A: Not sure. I ASSUMED 2 channel, but I didn't do anything to test that assumption.

Q: 4. Where does it split (how far the stereo plug) ?

A: About 18".

Q: 5. If this is used with a pair of mics, will the recorded signal from each be blended, or will the two signals be hard panned left and right?

A: Never tried it. I've always used these for getting stereo output from an iPad or iPod into a console. Sorry I couldn't answer your question.

Q: 6. Does this cable plug into 1/2 sub out and 1/2 sub in? For example I want to be able to plug a camera such as a Cannon Mk III to my zoom F8 mixer! I want to be sure this is the exact cable!

A: The Zoom F8 Multi-Track Field Recorder offers unbalanced line outputs not compatible with the camera's microphone input. You will need an attenuating cable like his one: Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4N-6 - Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras B&H # SEL2MZH4N6

Q: 7. Is this the same as an auxiliary cord?

A: The Pearstone Stereo Mini can be used as an Aux cable and will transmit stereo sound from a portable device to an aux input.

Q: 8. Is this cable suitable to connect a Tascam 70D recorder line out to a DLSR camera mic line in?

A: Yes, this could be used to connect the 70D to a DSLR with a 3.5mm mic input. Please make sure the 70D output level is set as camera out when making that connection.

Q: 9. Is this cable balanced?

A: The Hosa Technology Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Male Cable (15') in an unbalanced line-level stereo cable.

Q: 10. Is this cable shielded? Else can you recommend one that is?

A: The Pearstone Stereo Mini Male to Stereo Mini Male Cable (Black, 6') is not shielded.

[Black] I use numerous audio cables and have found the Hosa cables meet my rigid standards.  I can always rely upon them making secure connections especially in critical applications.

[5' / 1.5 m] Works great--this cable allows you to convert a male 1/4 stereo jack to a 3.5 mm--I use it to go from an audio mixer to a computer input.

[Black] Exactly what I needed and a third of the price of my local music shop. The cord is a great length if you are setting your equipment close together so you dont have to worry about cord tangles.

[Hosa] For run of the mill cables, these Hosa cables are really good quality. If you need a better quality cable, Hosa also offers a Pro Series.

[Nickel] I use this cable to convert LP to digital audio on my laptop. The LP rig I have has a stereo port, so I use this to connect that to the audio-in on my laptop (Mac). I use Audacity to record, everything works like a charm.
