The Heliopan Bay 2 KR 1.5 Skylight SH-PMC Filteris a general use filter with a slight pink tint to help improve overall color accuracy and clarity. The light pink coloration helps to reduce the overall bluish cast of daylight and is especially effective when photographing landscapes and in shade. It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The SH-PMC multi-coating provides a total of 16 coatings, 8 per side, for significant reflection reduction (below 0.2%) as well as dust and moisture repellence for easier cleaning.

This Heliopan filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Q: 1. What is the thickness of this filter?

A: It is not a slim filter - but that is what I love about Heliopan = their construction! A fine piece of German glass encased in a brass ring that won't stick or bind. These are the only filters I put on my lenses.

Q: 2. The image for this particular filer is not a bay 3 filter for the 2.8 F Rolleiflex?

A: The first image for that model filter is not correct but it is a Heliopan Bay 3 UV SH-PMC Filter.

Q: 3. Does it come with a plastic case?

A: The Heliopan 67mm SH-PMC Protection Filter will come in the plastic case/product packaging from the manufacturer. Separate filter cases are sold separately.

Q: 4. Do you offer, or can you recommend a slip-on lens cap that will work with this filter? I am using this on a Nikon 28-70 AF-S lens (primarily).

A: Kaiser Slip-On Lens Caps would be great for this!

Q: 5. Can this Bay III filter be used on a Rolleiflex 2.8C along with the Rollei lens hood?

A: No, the Heliopan Bay 3 Clear Protection Filter can not be used at the same time as the lens hood.

Q: 6. Will this create vignetting at 16mm when put on Sony 16-35mm GM lens?

A: It is not unusual to experience vignetting when using ultra wide lenses.

Q: 7. Thanks, but I would prefer a hard lens cap as it protects more and won't touch the lens while transporting. I did find a Sensei 105mm Clip-On Lens Cap (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/818347-REG/Sensei_lcc_105_105mm_Clip_On_Lens_Cap.html) -will this fit any 105mm filter?Also, B+W USA seems to have a 105mm filter cap. Do you have it for sale and will it fit any 105mm filter?

A: A 105mm clip-on cap will not fit on this filter, as there are no threads on the filter to clip the cap onto. We do not currently sell the 105mm filter cap from B+W, as they have discontinued their line of slim filters and it is no longer available to us.

Q: 8. I read a customer review in Amazon which indicates that this filter does not fit the canon cap for the EF 24-105mm lens. Is that true?I currently own 2 L-class canon lenses the EF 24-105 f/4 kit bought with Canon EOS 6D and the EF 17-40 f/4. Both need 77mm UV filters. I have already had two (2) non-heliopan 77 mm filters ,but want to upgrade to Heliopan filters and want to make sure they fit my canon lense caps.Thank you for your answer

A: As these filters are slimmer than most, the front thread may not necessarily grip a clip-on lens cap. You may want to try a screw-on cap instead:Sensei 77mm Screw-In Metal Lens CapB&H # SELCM77 Mfr # LCM-77

A: There are no issues with exposure or clarity of images with the Heliopan 67mm SH-PMC Protection Filter.

Q: 10. Will this filter work with Nikkor 55-300 mm and Nikkor 18-55 mm lenses?

A: This filter will be compatible with the 18-55 Nikon lens, however the 55-300mm lens has a 58mm filter thread.

[Bay 2] May say use UV, I have tried and like using a skylight protive filter with my Fujuion 14mm and 60mm. My JPEGS look more true to color both in door and out. This Heliopan is very well made and it's coatings are up to the coatings on my Fuji lens. 5

[Bay 2] I always used a skylight filter outdoors with Kodachrome and the results were noticeable. I've recently started using color negative film in medium format and 35 mm and bought this filter for that purpose. The quality of the glass is extremely important for me, and this Schott glass is the best quality skylight filter I have found. 5

[Bay 2] I have always used a filter to protect my lens front element glass. Even though many others in the business say they are not needed or need to be removed prior to adding other filters. I do not. The KR 1.5 SKYLIGHT provides the protection I need and the security to make sure nothing smears on or touches that element. Each time filters are removed, your finger oils could possibly adhere to that glass, but not if you are using permanent filter to prevent that from happened. Well constructed, multicoated, in a slim version filter by Heliopan; tops in my book. I buy the best filters for my pro cameras, hands downs... 5

[Bay 2] Seems really well made. I bought this to replace a more basic uncoated UV filter on my 17-35mm lens. My intention is that the multicoating on both sides will improve transmission over an uncoated filter, and the slight color might subtly improve color rendition. Mostly it's for protecting the front surface and threaded rim of the lens. At least once in the past 50 years of shooting, I've had a lens hit the ground and be 100% saved by a skylight filter (which was destroyed). Even the chi-chi multicoated version is cheap insurance that can save a shoot. Personally I feel that all the debate about skylight vs. clear UV is much ado about nothing. Any effect you might notice could be adjusted out easily if you found it objectionable. I just use the skylight color because I always have. Maybe there was more of a point to it in the days of film. I'm not going to spend any more cycles on it... 5

[0.12 lb] Good anti-reflective coating. Still use a Skylight when using film, specially with E-6 process Kodaks. Brass holder doesn't gaul to aluminum threads like cheap aluminum holders. 5
