Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use these sheets to reduce light intensity for food photography in my softbox?

A: These sheets will reduce half a stop of light. You could use them with softboxes for food photography.

Q: 2. Frost means its matt finish on this one? So its not clear see through?

A: This filter would have a matte finish to it.

Q: 3. I asked abbout floppy/stiff in my last question, but the answer seems conflicting. If it's 3mm thick, is it really floppy? That's pretty thick for floppy.

A: This material is not 3mm it is probably 3 mil, which is much thinner than 3mm and is very pliable.

Q: 4. Would it be possible to leave the ND gel attached to the window for an extended period (for example, 1 year)? Would it stick for that long using the window cleaner solution attachment approach?

A: This ND has no adhesive.

Q: 5. If you use window cleaner or clear sugary drink (as I've seen suggested here), how do you clean the gel after the shoot?

A: Truth be told you don't necessarily have to clean The Rosco E-Colour #211 .9 Neutral Density (48 x25' Roll) B&H # ROE211R48 MFR # 102302114825 after a shoot, but if you find that you do, what I suggest is to get the following 2 items. The former is less abrasive than a window cleaner and the latter is a nice Chamois cloth, good for a wide variety of cleaning tasks.Endust 16 oz Anti-Static Gel LCD & Plasma Screen Cleaner B&H # EN11308 MFR # 11308Japan Hobby Tool Chamois Skin (5.9 x 5.9 ) B&H # JAJHT9594 MFR # JHT9594

Q: 6. How do you trim these to a large window seamlessly without light leaks? Especially a window twice the size of the roll?

A: Have the following professional installed by someone who does car tint windows for the best seamless install.

Q: 7. what do you use to tape this to a window?

A: I don't use tape...One way to put ND on a window is cut to size, wet down the window with plain water and sponge, press the gel on the glass and wipe/press down with a squeegee to smooth it.

Q: 8. What's the transmission on this?

A: According to Rosco the transmission is 64%.

Q: 9. Could this be cut down and used in the filter stage of a darkroom enlarger to reduce exposure?

A: Yes, the Rosco E-Colour #211 ND .9 Filter (21 x 24" Sheet) could be cut into smaller pieces and used in other contexts, like a darkroom enlarger.

Q: 10. Are these stackable?

A: Yes, you can stack the E-Colour #209 .3 Neutral Density Filter.

[Rectangle] In our club, we need dimmable LED can lights for dining, but the performance of the available lamps does not have a low enough light output without instability. Adding one f-stop of ND filter works great to lower the ambient light of the dining room, but is still bright enough when set to maximum so that the cleaning staff can do a good job.

[0.1 lb] I use the ND gels to cut down the output of my Einstein when used with Pocket Wizard's HyperSync. The Einstein has to be used at full power to get a slow enough flash duration, so to adjust your output while shooting wide open this is a must have.

[24 x 24 x 0.01"] Going to eventually buy a bigger version of it because it worked so well on smaller windows for being able to see outdoors.
