Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, would like to ask the circumference of the handle for this model? thanks

A: 4.71 circumference.

Q: 2. Will this work with the Azden 310XT UHF On-Camera Plug-In System?

A: no, the wireless transmitter doesn't supply the phantom power needed by the microphone.

Q: 3. For a Canon 70d I know I need a xlr to 3.5mm cable so the mic connects to my camera, But I was wondering which cable would I need to do that? There's so many options. Which xlr to 3.5mm cable should I get from this site. Thanks

A: The recommended cable adapter for DSLR connection is the Kopul LMT-100. This is an 18 cable adapter. To run the length from the mic to adapter would require a standard XLR mic cable. Available in lengths from 1 to 100 feet.

Q: 4. Will this mic work with the nikon d5300?

A: This mic connects via XLR hookup. As long as you have proper connection to camera (via mic cable) you should be fine.

Q: 5. Will this work with a Zoom H1 with a mini plug adapter? How is it powered?

A: This microphone has a dynamic element so it does not require a power source to operate, however you would need to ensure your adapter includes a low-to-high impedance-matching transformer. This will convert the mic's low impedance output to the high-impedance input required by the handheld recorder.

Q: 6. Will 6 of these work in a meeting hall (25 people U table) without feedback?

A: Feedback is typically caused by sound from speakers bleeding back into a microphone, which creates a feedback loop. The Shure MX391 is an omnidirectional boundary microphone, so it will be particularly susceptible to feedback as there is no axis of rejection. Caution should be used if the microphone is connected to speakers in the same area, and the speakers should be faced away from the microphone to avoid feedback.

Q: 7. Will the mic work with MXW1 body pack for wireless option?

A: No, the Shure MX391 Microflex Cardioid Boundary Microphone is not compatible with the Shure MXW1 Hybrid Bodypack Transmitter.

Q: 8. Hello, would like to ask the circumference of the handle for this model? thanks

A: 3.925 circumference.

Q: 9. what cable goes with this?

A: The Shure SM63LB features a male XLR connector. AN XLR mic cable would be used to connect to most devices Such as the Kopul 3000 series cables. Many customers also use these mics with devices such as portable audio recorders and even cameras/camcorders. in this case you would require an adapter as well. The Kopul LMT100 is a popular choice.

Q: 10. I need an external mic for my Canon Vixia HF R52 camcorder. The Canon tech support person said the mic had to have its own power supply. But this Shure VP64-AL says it needs no battery or Phantom power (whatever that is). So will this mic work with my camcorder?

A: This is a dynamic microphone, so it needs no external or battery power. What you will need is an adapter cable with attenuation to match the input on the camcorder:

[11 to 52 VDC] After much deliberation in which hand-held microphone to purchase, I eventually settled on the Shure SM63L. Intending to use the microphone in a crowded convention setting, the lack of initial reviews had me a little nervous. I'm happy to report that any doubt was unfounded. While it wasn't used in the very crowded show floor, it was used in slightly less crowded areas and preformed very well. As an Omni microphone, you were able to hear background noise, but the subject speaking was very distinct from other noise. In interviews, the microphone preformed well again, giving good audio when held between subjects. Some volume loss was experienced (and expected) if the microphone wasn't pointed at, or held evenly between subjects. Due to budget and time circumstances, I intended to use this microphone on an XLR splitter with another microphone which required phantom power. Unable to contact Shure before the event, I did not end up utilizing this setup, opting instead to use the mics separately. In speaking with a Shure representative after the event, they assured me this microphone would NOT be damaged by phantom power (Note: Confirm with Shure before attempting). I feel the microphone could use slightly better bass sensitivity, but if the trade-off was less handheld noise (to which this microphone seems very good at preventing) I'm willing to live with that. I'd very highly recommend this microphone for interview and reporting style work and even light/quick voice-over work. Looking forward to using this microphone more in the future.

[70.5 dB] This mic not only does a nice job on the sound pick up - but it looks very professional as well.

[50 Hz - 17 kHz] When faculty use wireless mics in classrooms they often clip them onto their lapels with the mic pointing over their shoulders and sometimes the fabric of their clothing is too thin so the mic flops down and points towards the floor. With a cardioid directional cartridge this make them almost inaudible. In rooms where feedback is not an issue, this omni cartridge can eliminate that problem since it picks up sound from all directions.

[70.5 dB] When I first used the SM63L microphone, I wasn't sure that I was using it properly... I plugged the adapter into my Canon 5D MKII and my Canon t3i and went on to record some interviews... when I played back on camera, all you hear is hissing... without wanting to research too much I will assume that the Canon won't playback stereo captured sound. BUT!!!... when I downloaded the video to my laptop for further review, I was immersed in sound... I honestly have to say that the sound over-shadowed my video without a doubt... If you are looking for a microphone that will deliver crisp, clear sound quality, even in the loudest environments (let's say Expos) this is the mic to get.

[11 to 52 VDC] Forget your RE50/B's and get out of the '50s. Give up your hammers and get this one. Every bit as rugged, but better freq response, and contoured right at the speech points of the spectrum. Hears up to 20 KHz, +/- 3 db down to 80 Hz. No need for low cut filter. Speech is clear and fresh, like a spring brook.

[Omnidirectional] I bought this as an ENG mic so I wouldn't have to have so much hiss from turning up the gain on an SM-58 I had. It produces a bigger sound, but with a similar dryness (which I actually prefer). It compared well to mics like the Beyerdynamic M58, but sounded less bright or metallic with my voice. Like lots of Shure dynamic microphones, it seems pretty indestructable (I haven't pitched it down a flight of stairs just yet, though.) Solidly built, clean sound, and bigger output than most dynamic microphones. I'd buy a second one without hesitation.

[Omnidirectional] We use this product on a lavalier style microphone transmitter. We already had a cardioid microphone on it, but when the speaker turned his head, it didn't catch the audio (like it's supposed to). So, we got this omnidirectional replacement cartridge which worked well. It was a little bit difficult to remove the old windscreen, but after that the old cartridge unscrewed with no problem and this one screwed in easily - windscreen back on and now we have a clear omnidirectional microphone!

[0.145 lb] This mic is similar to the mic used by televangelist Jimmy Schwagart in the late 80s and early 90s the difference is that this mic is modern of the year 2015.

[50 Hz - 17 kHz] Much light and slicker than other popular mic RE50.
Handling noise is minimal. Clarity is good, bass is a little less.
Standard mic with solid built quality last long years.

[0.145 lb] Using for news gathering in a school environment. Rugged enough for students, and economical. Light and compact; a nice addition to remote equipment package.
