The AKG CK80 is a modular hypercardioid shotgun microphone capsule designed for use with the AKG GN series, HM 1000, and LM 3 gooseneck, hanging and lavalier microphone fixtures. The hypercardioid polar pattern minimizes noise and ambiance at the off-axis (sides) of the microphone. The result increases directivity and provides high gain-before-feedback response when using near speakers or monitors.

The CK80 features pristine detail and accurate reproduction. The dual wind screen design employs an outer layer which disperses initial wind stream while the second layer further diffuses the wind stream before reaching the diaphragm. The module design allows quick and easy capsule replacement for added flexibility.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Based on the description showing stage use , we bought two of these and put them on the edge of our stage facing the audience in the hopes of a decent ambient pick-up. They are picking up way too much from the rear and the manual actually says that they are either super cardiois or hyper cardioid which would not have as much rear rejection as a plain cardioid. Am I misunderstanding something or can you please advise us on a more appropriate selection? We are a church with a fair amount of stage volume and need these primarily for in-ear ambiance and the results were practically no vocals and little audience with mostly stage music from drums and guitar amps.Thank you

A: There are adapters in the box. One has holes to skew the response curve to voice. There is another to reject background sound. I think it comes with it installed. Did you check your db settings? It has a switch to drop the output.

Q: 2. Does it require phantom power?

A: Yes. The Audio-Technica AT4053b Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone BH #AUAT4053B requires 48V phantom power.

Q: 3. what about the Shure FP System. Does it work? the lav from the kit is too big.

A: It will work if you use a readily available TA 3 to TA 4 adapter.

Q: 4. Hi. Is this BluTooth enabled?

A: No, this microphone plugs into a wireless microphone transmitter with a 3-Pin Miniature XLR input. If you have a BluTooth transmitter that has an input for a microphone with a 3-Pin Miniature XLR, it would probably work.

Q: 5. On off switch?

A: The Synco Mic-D1 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone does not feature an on-board "On/Off" switch. The switch found on the Synco Mic-D1 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone is a "High Pass Filter" switch which filters out low end frequencies below 180Hz.

Q: 6. I need a hypercardioid mic for interior dialogue recording on a boom pole. Is it possible the this mic can deliver in such a task? Or is it too heavy. Too bulky? Thanks.

A: I use this mic in our studio on a C-stand and hand held for street interviews. I do have some shoots coming up in August where I am going to purchase a boom for it. It's definitely bulkier than a choir mic, but I love the sound (don't forget to put the hypercardioid adapter on it that comes in the box).Hope that helps,Jeff

Q: 7. How is the noise compared to a boom mic?

A: A mic like the AT4053b would be recommended for indoor dialog capture. The pickup pattern is wider than a traditional shotgun, however for indoor were there are many reflective surfaces, this is a benefit as compared to a more directional mic.

Q: 8. Does it require battery power or phantom power or it works without any power supply?

A: It requires phantom power.

Q: 9. What all comes in the package for this specific microphone?

A: The AKG CM311A/SH is outfitted with a TA4f connection compatible with Shure wireless systems. Along with the microphone, you also get a carrying case, a WS-6 foam pop filter and one clothing clip.

Q: 10. Will this capsule fit/work with an AKG C460B preamp section?

A: This capsule is only compatible with AKG GN series and LM3 housings.

[125dB (1% THD)] I've installed dozens of Audix wireless systems in churches, schools and other facilities throughout the Lehigh Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania and nearby New Jersey. Never a hiccup or issue. This handset is almost always a part of the solution. Mostly metal, it takes a couple of AA batteries and runs for up to 8 hours. The sound is great, full-bodied without being boomy and with crisp highs. I can't recommend these enough, they are my favorite wireless vocal system!

[Hypercardioid] Needed mic for church with as low of noise as possible. It is incredible. So much better than the Shure micro flex.

[0.445 lb] I have two Isomax 4RF microphones used at church. The 24-inch Cardioid we use at he Lord's table and a 18-inch Supercardioid on the podium. Compared to numerous other brands, the Isomax is very tolerant of feedback, has a very rich tone even using a flat EQ and is hotter than comparable microphones. While we need acoustic panels to improve clarity in our auditorium, this microphone help significantly to overcome the loss of clarity due to poor acoustics. It is a great microphone and comes in a plastic tube for protection. Another attribute is it ability to not pick up background noise from bumping the podium.

[Hypercardioid] A GREAT Mic for soft voice This mic is great and just what I have been looking for. I have a soft voice and tried using hand held mics but couldn't get the volume up without worrying about feedback. With this mic I was able to turn it up so loud with no feedback at all that my band said that it may be too loud. My Drummer bought a wireless head mic that he had to return because it would feedback before we could get the volume up as needed. I sat behind his drums with his drums miked and NO feedback at all. I'm sure he will be buying one of these also. The on/off mute button on the belt pack comes from the factory as a temporary off, like for a cough but it can be changed to a temporary on or as an on/off switch which I prefer. It was VERY simple to change. The headset could not be any more sturdy or it would be too heavy to wear. I give it a Five Stars because it works for me and my soft voice. No more worrying about feedback or getting it loud enough to hear me. It is GREAT for a Rock Drummer who needs to be loud without feedback from his other mics or monitors and for anyone with a soft voice that needs a lot of volume from a mic. Someone did it right with this one and now they need a handheld mic with the same Cardioid Condenser mic. Thank You for a Great Product. I also recommend this headset with a Shure wireless System for anyone who needs to move around such as a singing lead Guitarist.

[0.445 lb] I bought the AKG C3000 primarily because I was looking for a decent condenser microphone, form a reputable manufacturer, within budget. I never expected a magnificent sound from this mic. But my expectations were surpassed considering the sound derived form the C3000. To begin with, this mic is solidly built in Vienna, Austria and looks elegant in black metallic finish. I use it with m101 preamp and the sound is clear and upfront. Given the price, it delivers a well defined sound. I am pleased!

[0.5 oz (15 g)] I play in a Bluegrass band - we use two C3000s for lead and harmony vocals at our regular gig. We get great reproduction and gain before feedback on stage. And B&H had the best price and cheapest shipping online!
