Offering extensive perspective and focus control along with the convenience of working with your digital camera, the black Cambo ACTUS-B8 View Camera with Fujifilm X Mountfrom Cambo ACTUS-B8 View Camera with Fujifilm X Mounteffectively transforms your mirrorless camera into a digital view camera. As the core component within a modular system, this view camera body serves as the primary piece from which you can pair Fujifilm X mount mirrorless cameras with a variety of lenses to reap the benefits of geared camera movements for correcting perspective distortions, achieving an extended depth of field, or producing creative selective focus effects. While resembling traditional large format view cameras in function, the ACTUS system also echoes the compact form factor of the digital cameras it is designed to be paired with and is optimized for use in both the studio as well as on location.

This view camera body is delivered with a 6.1" monorail as well as a 4.9" bellows to permit working with a variety of lens and camera types. The monorail is designed to fit within the Arca-Swiss style quick release system for easy mounting to a tripod, and is also fitted with both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounts for attaching quick release plates. Optional lensplates can be added depending on your desired lens type, and the monorail and bellows is also interchangeable with optional wide-angle and longer versions of each. Additionally, other optional camera bayonet mounts can also be used besides the included Fujifilm X bayonet mount.

A full system of movements offers extensive control over perspective and focusing settings. Geared on-axis tilt and swing movements are performed on the front standard and the rear standard permits geared rise/fall movements and quick slide shift movements:

  • Rear Rise/Fall: +0.5", -0.6" / +12mm, -15mm
  • Rear Shift: +/- 0.8" / 20mm
  • Front Swing: 360°
  • Front Tilt: +10°, -9°

The swing and tilt movements of the front standard rotate about the optical axis in order to avoid having to re-compose or re-focus after each movement is applied.

  • Both fine geared and quick-slide focusing adjustment types are available.
  • Bellows and monorail focusing allows you to achieve closer focusing distances without the use of extension tubes or other macro attachments.
  • Zero-position clicks are incorporated into each movement type for more intuitive handling.
  • Monorail is compatible with the Arca-Swiss-style quick release system and also features both 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounts.
  • Front tilts and swings allow you to alter the plane of focus for employing selective focus techniques or Scheimpflug settings for extensive depth of field. Additionally, these tilt and swing movements are used to correct for convergence and other perspective distortions.
  • Rear horizontal and vertical shifts allow you to move the camera position while retaining the same lens position, making this configuration especially ideal for stitching multiple exposures without having to adjust the lens.
  • The included Fujifilm X camera bayonet mount allows you to rotate between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations without having to adjust the actual orientation of the view camera body.
  • This black finish body is anodized for greater durability and scratch resistance.
  • Compact overall form factor is relative to the size of DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

As the central component within the modular ACTUS system, this view camera body serves as the means to which you can attach a variety of optional lensplates as well as other camera bayonet mounts:

Lensplates:

  • Copal #0
  • Copal #1
  • M39 threading

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the DB2 work with a SINAR S30|45 back?

A: No, The DB2 does not interface with the S30|45 back.

Q: 2. Is there a lensplate option for using Contax 645 lenses?

A: Unfortunately no, the Cambo ACTUS-MV View Camera Body has no options for use with a Contax 645 camera and lens.

Q: 3. What lens board do I need for the Hasselblad Xcd? I just received one adapter for the camera, not for the lens.

A: The Actus itself is a modular system so you would need to choose the lens board that would work best for your usage. For the Hasselblad X1d you should consider the following lens boards: Mamiya 645 (ACB-M645), Pentax 645 (ACB-P645), Hasselblad CF (Legacy Hasselblad Lenses) (ACB-HA), Mamiya RB/RZ (ACB-RZ), The Cambo Actar series of lenses, or large format lenses in a Copal-0 (ACB-0) or Copal-1 (ACB-1) Shutter 70mm and longer.

Q: 4. Does it come with a bellow? I guess so but don’t see it in the picture. How big is the bellow? Is it compatible with Schneider 72mm/5.6 XL which has a 72mm size to the camera side?

A: The Actus-G body comes with a standard monorail and bellows which is 155mm. So that being said the 72mm lens should work. However please be aware that the Actus-G doesn't come with a camera bayonet mount, so that will need to be added. Depending on which camera you choose you may run into issues with infinity focus as well. Please see the lens compatibility chart at our website for more info.

Q: 5. Will the CFVII 50C fir this setup with the 907X in the loop, or will it work only with the back? And how does the shutter work in either case?

A: This product is only compatible with the Hasselblad X series cameras.

Q: 6. What’s the difference between Actus-B and Actus-G?

A: The both versions can be used with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera but the G version can also be used with a digital back.

Q: 7. Can I rotate the X1D body from horizontal to vertical without separating it from the system?

A: Yes. The Cambo Actus-XCD has a rotating Bayonet system. When mounted it is possible to change the orientation of the camera without removing it.

Q: 8. What’s the difference between the Actus G system and the Actus MV for use with a Fuji GFX 100 II?

A: The Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body with AC-792 Bayonet Holder for FUJIFILM G is very good. The difference between that and the Cambo ACTUS-MV View Camera Body with AC-214 Bellows and ACMV-862 Mount Kit, B&H #CAACMVF50K, is that the MV has almost double the movement capability in any direction.

Q: 9. Can I put Hasselblad lenses without any adapters?

A: No. The Actus-XCD comes with the appropriate reat standard, monorail, and bellows. In order to attach Hasselblad V series lenses you would need to add the ACB-HA lens board.

Q: 10. can xcd lenses be used with the camera body?

A: Yes, the Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body with 20mm Lens Kit for Hasselblad X Mount will work with a Hasselblad XCD 55mm f/2.5 V Lens.

[3.4 lb] I own three of these 810Gs (and a 45G) and have used them for over 20 years in product and architectural work. The design and workmanship is excellent and durability is lifelong plus. Controls are smooth, even after all these years. Only comparable camera would be the Sinar P. But this Omega G is sturdier. When controls are locked, its tight.

[3.4 lb] I use this on an Intrepid 4x5 camera with a 150mm lense and it works. Couldn't go any shorter without recessed lense boards. I need to use the rotating back rather than flip the adapter as the adaptor only fits one way due to its ridge and the groove on the camera back. I use it for both still life/product shots and landscapes. I think it's a good way into this style of photography.

[3.4 lb] I haven't had the opportunity to put a real test this product yet but in trying it out on several of my lenses, this unit will fill the bill as far as my needs are concerned. For me, having this unit in my camera bag will eliminate the need to purchase a spotting scope. It works great! The images that were visible through this unit were clear and crisp as they should be as much of the quality of the images is largely determined by the quality of the lens used. I don't regret buying this product. Now I need to really start using it.

[3.4 lb] Absolutely love this piece of Cambo equipment... They've gone through this design from top to bottom and have created a platform that is essentially a genius solution to having the ultimate digital view camera for those of us who require such a technical approach to creating images. The build quality and precision are top notch - everything feels very well machined and well assembled. The multiple lens plates for lens manufactures such as Mamiya, Pentax, Hasselblad, Leica and their very own Actar series of lenses allows you to have many options when it comes to lenses.

At first, this system can be confusing with what lenses will work with what body or digital back, but once you get familiar with their lens chart, it starts to make sense as to what can be used. The lens chart, listed below, gives all the data necessary to make informed decisions. I will say, with Pentax 645 glass, the latest HD DFA lenses are made specifically for Pentax's digital medium format bodies, which require a much smaller image circle than Pentax's 645 film format. So the A and FA Pentax lenses are a better option if you require shifting/rise/fall movements.

All in all, I would highly recommend this system. If you need rear standard movements, Cambo has even more in depth models known as the Actus MV and Actus XL, which in my mind seems better suited for studio and product photography. Personally, I use this system for interior design and architectural photography and I must say: it's working better than any T/S lens - and I own and use some phenomenal T/S lenses, i.e., the 19mm, 24mm, 45mm and 85mm PC-e lenses from Nikon; these are outstanding lenses, but the Cambo allows me more freedom of movement, so this is why I made the switch from a pair Nikon D-850 bodies and said T/S lenses. Freedom!!!!! (of movement).
