This 100mm f/2.8 lens features a Canon EF mount, and is compatible with full-frame sensors or APS-C sensors, where it will provide a 160mm equivalent focal length.

A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful for working in a variety of lighting conditions and the minimum f/32 aperture helps to attain a long depth of field when working with close-up subjects.

One high refractive index element and one extra-low dispersion element help to control chromatic aberrations and minimize distortions throughout the focusing and aperture ranges.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased clarity, contrast, and color fidelity.

Featuring a macro design, this lens affords a 1:1 maximum magnification ratio along with a minimum focusing distance of 1'.

Benefitting working with especially close subjects, this manual focus lens features an internal focus design to maintain the overall lens length during use. Additionally, the front filter mount does not rotate when focusing to better enable the use of polarizers, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.

A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work with Sony alpha nex-5n? I mounted it but it says cannot recognize lens attach it properly. Any ideas?

A: Thank you so much Lisa!!!!

Q: 2. Does this lens need a tripod collar when used with a Sony A6000, and if so, is one available?

A: This Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Sony E cameras does not require a tripod collar nor does Rokinon make one for it.

Q: 3. How is the aperture controlled?Purely manually with the ring closes to the camera, or from the camera controls like a genuine Olympus lens for instance?

A: The lens has an f/stop ring and is changed manually from the lens. The f/stop ring is on the end of the lens near the camera.

Q: 4. How does this lens compare to the Canon 100mm macro? I'm interested in it for studio work.

A: I feel canon glass is better then Rokinon

Q: 5. Does this lens work with the Fujifilm X-T2 and Panasonic Lumix GH4? Thanks.

A: The Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Fujifilm X will mate perfectly with the Fujifilm X-T2 and any other X mount camera. That means, however, since it has a Fujifilm X lens mount, it cannot fit on a camera like the Lumix GH4 which has an MFT lens mount. They are incompatible.

Q: 6. Does this lens have fully internal focusing mechanism or external? (Does the lens extend while focusing?)

A: This lens has internal focusing. Any extending is believed to be negligible.

Q: 7. Would this lens work with the recently added focus bracketing feature on the X-T2?

A: it's a manual focus lens, it can't possibly work with the focus bracketing setting on the Fuji X-series, which requires an auto focusing lens.

Q: 8. Is the lens so heavy that it needs a support when using with the Sony A6000? If it doesn't come with a tripod collar, so how would you support it?

A: This lens is very heavy. It does not need a support however. Usually when I shoot with this one, I hold the lens instead of the camera body (hard to explain, but the lens takes the weight, not the body.) I spite of the weight, this is a spectacular lens. The color and sharpness are vibrant. The bokeh is just the softest (even with high f stop). Worth the weight.

Q: 9. Can this lens aperture be controlled through the camera? Can you use shutter priority with it?

A: You would control the aperture on the lens not the body, however you can put the aperture ring on X and then put the camera in shutter priority or program.

Q: 10. does this work with auto focus?

A: No, it does not. The Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Sony E is a fully manual lens. You would have to focus the lens manually and you would set the aperture of the lens using the aperture ring built onto the lens.

[f/32] Most of what I shoot is macro using a tripod and manual settings. I don't have any use auto focus or image stabilization, and find my AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED unnecessarily big and heavy, with focus throw too short. My Zeiss 100mm f/2 Makro-Planar ZF.2 (also heavy) is wonderful to use but only focuses to 1:2. The Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro focuses 1:1, and otherwise fits my needs, particularly in the field. At the apertures I use its resolution compares favorably with my other macro lenses.

[24.8°] I purchased this lens for insect and flower photography. I bought the Canon version and use it with an adapter on my Sony Nex6 body, in lieu of the much more expensive Sony 90mm Macro. I only use manual lenses for macro work, both for focusing and aperture. This lens works well for that since both adjustments can be made comfortably on the large rings for focus and aperture. I also like the click stops on the aperture ring.
I always have problems seeing on my camera screen if focus is correct, especially with macro at high magnification. This is a problem of the camera screen. When i got the focus right the images with this lens are very sharp, even at the edges. I mostly use medium apertures to maintain highest image quality, except when I need to blur the background or the opposite - increase depth of field.
The following sample shots are reduced in size to allow for faster upload.
I appreciate the larger working distance of the 100mm macro so I don't scare my insects away. At good light I can shoot by hand without bumping up sensitivity. It also works well as a light tele I found, and it is easier to find focus at larger distances.
I am very happy with this lens.

[67 mm (Front)] Very easy to control with a surprisingly large focus range. All the rings rotate really smoothly and stop exactly where you want it to.

[f/32] I'm new to macro photography. I started using extension tubes. Soon I wanted a real macro lens so can also photograph things that aren't close. This is a great lens at a decent price. I don't mind manual focus because with macro you shouldn't rely on autofocus anyway. The lens is heavy and well built. The focus ring turns very smooth.

[f/2.8] It works well with my Nikon D500 and Sony a6300 (with an adapter). It has focus confirmation on D500, which is helpful. With focus peaking, it is very easy to use the lens with a6300. The lens is not only good for macro photography but also suitable for portrait shooting as well.

[1:1] Very sharp, feels just right in your hands, not cheaply constructed. Great value, just like other rokinon/samyang products

[1:1] Completed my Rokinon prime set with this one. Used it for a shoot this weekend. Seems pretty sharp. Nice image. feels really solid too. Haven't had time to pixel peep but so far so good, and a nice savings vs the Canon L series macro.
