This 100mm f/2.8 lens features a Pentax K mount, and is compatible with full-frame sensors or APS-C sensors, where it will provide a 150mm equivalent focal length.

A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful for working in a variety of lighting conditions and the minimum f/32 aperture helps to attain a long depth of field when working with close-up subjects.

One high refractive index element and one extra-low dispersion element help to control chromatic aberrations and minimize distortions throughout the focusing and aperture ranges.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased clarity, contrast, and color fidelity.

Featuring a macro design, this lens affords a 1:1 maximum magnification ratio along with a minimum focusing distance of 1'.

Benefitting working with especially close subjects, this manual focus lens features an internal focus design to maintain the overall lens length during use. Additionally, the front filter mount does not rotate when focusing to better enable the use of polarizers, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.

A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

This lens features a mechanical aperture coupling that permits the use of aperture priority and automated exposure modes, as well as the ability to control the aperture setting with Pentax DSLRs.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this lens compare to the Canon 100mm macro? I'm interested in it for studio work.

A: I feel canon glass is better then Rokinon

Q: 2. How is the aperture controlled?Purely manually with the ring closes to the camera, or from the camera controls like a genuine Olympus lens for instance?

A: The lens has an f/stop ring and is changed manually from the lens. The f/stop ring is on the end of the lens near the camera.

Q: 3. Does this lens have a ring for manual aperture?

A: yes

Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with the PK-13 extension tube from Nikon? I know that it will mount, but what is the focus distance range when used with the extension tube?

A: The extension tube is manual so it will work with most Nikon compatible type D or third party manual lenses and the lens you are referring to is a manual lens.

Q: 5. Would this lens work with the recently added focus bracketing feature on the X-T2?

A: it's a manual focus lens, it can't possibly work with the focus bracketing setting on the Fuji X-series, which requires an auto focusing lens.

Q: 6. does this work on non sony cameras as well?

A: The only E mount cameras that are available are made by Sony. So to answer your question, no, this lens will not work on a non-Sony camera.

Q: 7. Is the lens so heavy that it needs a support when using with the Sony A6000? If it doesn't come with a tripod collar, so how would you support it?

A: This lens is very heavy. It does not need a support however. Usually when I shoot with this one, I hold the lens instead of the camera body (hard to explain, but the lens takes the weight, not the body.) I spite of the weight, this is a spectacular lens. The color and sharpness are vibrant. The bokeh is just the softest (even with high f stop). Worth the weight.

Q: 8. Does flexible focus point work in manual focusing on this lens with a Sony A7ii?

A: According the Sony Manual for the A7II (page 64) flexible spot is only available in autofocus mode. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/W001/W0014808M.pdf

Q: 9. Does it has an international warranty? I would like to import it to Malaysia.

A: The warranty included with this lens would be valid for the USA only for 1 year against defects. We do offer protection plans from Squaretrade in 2 or 3 year increments which cover the lens against accidental damage. Those plans can be compared by adding the lens to your online cart.

Q: 10. is this lens will work with Samsung NX1 APS-C Format Mount ??

A: Yes, its available with NX1 mount as a full frame so it will work with an APS-C sensor.

[1x] Completed my Rokinon prime set with this one. Used it for a shoot this weekend. Seems pretty sharp. Nice image. feels really solid too. Haven't had time to pixel peep but so far so good, and a nice savings vs the Canon L series macro.

[9, Rounded] I quickly fell for this lens: the build feels great, the focus is smooth, and the image quality is amazing. It doesn't feel too heavy at all (like others have mentioned). For the price, it seems to be one of the ones. I couldn't be happier with it.

[f/2.8] I purchased this lens for insect and flower photography. I bought the Canon version and use it with an adapter on my Sony Nex6 body, in lieu of the much more expensive Sony 90mm Macro. I only use manual lenses for macro work, both for focusing and aperture. This lens works well for that since both adjustments can be made comfortably on the large rings for focus and aperture. I also like the click stops on the aperture ring.
I always have problems seeing on my camera screen if focus is correct, especially with macro at high magnification. This is a problem of the camera screen. When i got the focus right the images with this lens are very sharp, even at the edges. I mostly use medium apertures to maintain highest image quality, except when I need to blur the background or the opposite - increase depth of field.
The following sample shots are reduced in size to allow for faster upload.
I appreciate the larger working distance of the 100mm macro so I don't scare my insects away. At good light I can shoot by hand without bumping up sensitivity. It also works well as a light tele I found, and it is easier to find focus at larger distances.
I am very happy with this lens.

[Pentax K] This lens has amazing Bokeh. Can be very sharp if you take the time to manually focus. This lens is also heavy.

[Manual Focus] I bought the Sony E mount version of this lens for dedicated indoor studio macro work.
For Sony cameras this lens configuration has a factory attached and not removable adapter at the f stop ring to compensate for the shorter flange distance difference versus SLRs mounts. Rokinon rarely shows images of the Sony mount. On a Canon body the f-stop ring is close up against the body. The lens attaches securely with no wiggle or other looseness. The E mount version overall length is 5.87” as stated in the specs, the hood adds another 3.2”. Minimum focus distance is 1 foot from the sensor on the Sony a7II, so working distance at 1:1 is about half that and even less with the hood in place.

Filter threads are sufficiently deep, but the lens cap has 3 mm deep threads to secure it to the lens barrel, so be aware that some UV and other filters with narrow rings might not let the cap fully seat and end up resting on the filter glass instead of seating around the entire circumference of the lens barrel. With the hood reversed for storage, the end of the hood sits even with the end of the lens barrel with no room for a cap between the lens barrel and the hood.

The weight is not awful, on an a7II it balances nicely, without any need of a tripod collar. I can see where the balance would be an issue on the Sony 6000 series. The f stop ring moves easily, with full and half stop points clicking securely into place. I actually like that the f stop ring is away from lens mount a bit.

Focus is silky smooth over the180 degrees. Fine focus control was the deciding factor for my purchase and is the very strong point for this lens.
Sony focus peaking makes this a most useful macro lens, more than making up for the lack of auto focus.
It comes with a nice drawstring bag too. It’s no Leica or even a Zeiss but it’s tack sharp with tolerable optical and chromatic issues.

[Pentax K] I’ve had this lens for over a week now. It works great and suits my needs well. This is my 4th lens and my 2nd Rokinon. I’m an amateur photographer and I wanted to add a macro to my kit. It’s now my heaviest and largest lens, but it’s been a lot of fun to use. When working with still subjects, this lens is amazing because the manual focus provides total control. The focal length is also long enough that I haven’t run into any problems with shadows. I see now that if I had bought a lens with a shorter focal length, it would be frustrating to use in certain conditions. This lens is challenging to use with moving subjects, but I’ve only tried a couple times. A banana slug is pretty easy to handle, but a bee is difficult. Overall, the image quality looks great and it’s been really fun to use. If you’re primarily interested in still(ish) subjects and want to use a tripod, I highly recommend this lens.
