Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long will opened chemistry last?

A: Ambient conditions will play a big roll in this. In extremely hot conditions, where oxidation is fast, you might be looking at 6 months. That being said, one should typically get about two years.

Q: 2. Is this stop bath compatible with the Sprint System chemicals?

A: Yes, this stop bath can work with other chemistry brands.

Q: 3. What is the container? Hard container or collapsible? With or without spigot?

A: Collapsible containers are made of permeable materials that let oxygen in. I wouldn't recommend them for darkroom environments.

Q: 4. after you open the container how long would the unmixed concentrate last?

A: Unopened Eco Pro Clearfix Neutral Rapid Fixer should be kept in cool, dark conditions. The products have a virtually indefinite shelf life. Once opened, the concentrate should be kept in tightly closed glass, PET(PETE) or HDPE containers, and used within twelve months. For best results in small scale darkrooms, a large opened bottle should be divided into several small glass or polyethylene bottles filled to the top to minimize exposure to air.

Q: 5. I live in warm climate the Caribbean to exact so my water temp are generally 25-29 degrees all the time. Can I use this developer to develop at such temperatures?

A: It is important when using this developer to get the temperature down to 20 C, or 68 F. When the temperature is higher it is necessary to greatly shorten the developing time, otherwise the paper can be over developed, and gray out the whites. A little ice can help to lower the temperature.

Q: 6. Can this fixer be disposed of by pouring it down the drain? Or would it be seen as a risk for the environment to do so?

A: Preferred options for disposal are to send to licensed reclaimers, or to permitted incinerators. Any disposal practice must be in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Do not dump into sewers, ground, or any body of water.

Q: 7. Can this be used when fixing with Kodak Rapid Fixer Part A for both film and paper?

A: This is is compatible with all general black and white fixers, and works with both film and paper.

Q: 8. Your description says mix 1:3 for fastest fixing. I thought it was 1:4. Which is correct?

A: Clearfix Neutral Fixer from Ecopro (formerly Silvergrain) may be mixed at 1 + 4 dilution for film, RC paper or FB paper, or mixed at 1 + 7 for use with RC paper only.

Q: 9. Does this have to be specially disposed or can it be poured down a regular drain?

A: According to the MSDS for this developer, this product should not be disposed of in bodies of water, in sewers or in the ground. Any used chemistry should be given to a licensed reclaimer for proper disposal.

Q: 10. What is the expiration date for unopened containers of this?

A: This product has a shelf life of approximately 2 years, unopened. Once opened, the concentrate should be used within six months.

[Water (aqueous)] This washing aid seems to be a good choice, I've been using this for about three years now, and have good results. The low toxicity of this line of products is the main reason that I chose this to use.

[1 gal (3.8 L)] Hey, ya know what? I love this stuff. It works and apparently it's not too bad for the environment. So, it's a win for me. It is not like that garbage blue hypo wash toilet water that gets all clumpy at the bottom.

[1 gal (3.8 L)] So far so good! Totally worth it to eliminate lengthy washing times for fiber prints. I don't have the time or the space to wash my prints for 30+ minutes after a darkroom session. This really helps.

[1 gal (3.8 L)] Easy to use and crystal clear. I was concerned that it could be seen if the light bounced off the print at just the right angle. It's invisible. The odor lasts only a couple of minutes, but is gone as soon as the product dries, so you can spray outside and bring the print in within minutes. I know it's protecting the print because I've gotten (vegetable based, water soluble) mounting adhesive on prints, and it comes right off leaving no marks IF the print has been sprayed, but damages the surface if the print has not been treated. I now use this for all my prints.

[Water (aqueous)] Works great, hardly visible except that it will reduce or eliminate gloss differential and bronzing. It Is also less expensive than the other overpriced sprays. The spray is less toxic than others since it uses an alcohol base.

[1 gal (3.8 L)] Bought this product out of old habit as I am just setting up my wet chemistry station after a 20 year lull. I like that it is easy to mix and very economical. I like even more that it likely isn't necessary for my B/W roll film developed in the Eco-Pro low odour Fixer. I did not realise this until I received the bottle and read the label. As I only print digitally from scanned film, seems I really did not need this bottle at all, though I will keep it on hand if I need shorter wash times and or to use less rinse water such as those times when I am processing in the field.

[Water (aqueous)] I've been using this for many years. Works great and is hardly noticeable on any paper surface from glossy to mat. Dries quickly, and the vapor has less smell than other sprays. It does protect prints from dirt and prints can be cleaned gently with a soft wet cloth after the lacquer has dried completely.
