Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This states that it has a fixed IP address. So would this work to a convert an HDMI video single to an addressable IP source that could be input to a Tricaster 410 IP connection directly, and then used as one of the two network sources?

A: No, you would convert HDMI to SDI and run the SDI cable to go to the TC410; Ocean Matrix does make that as well; you can bridge production and security systems this way as well--AL

Q: 2. If a computer is connected to an input and no output is active: Will the computer still detect that it's connected to a monitor?

A: No, unless the MuxLab 4x4 4K60 HDMI Matrix Switch is producing n actual outputting signal, a computer will not see any signal until such action is taken by the switch.

Q: 3. Is there a remote that will work with this device?

A: There is no specific remote for the MuxLab 4x4 4K60 HDMI Matrix Switch but it can be used with IR Remotes, RS-232, and Telnet Control.

Q: 4. Can I have multiple receivers? I have one source that I would like to display on 3 different displays in 3 different locations.

A: Yes, one can work with up to 8 receivers, with capability to send the same source to multiple receivers.

Q: 5. If a computer is connected to an input and no output is active: Will the computer still detect that it's connected to a monitor?

A: No, the output from the Ocean Matrix UHD 4K HDR 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switcher with Downscaling must be active for the signal to be seen.

Q: 6. Does this require or work with a switch between xmitter & receiver? Would it work if I had a long-range 802.11n (Wifi) dedicated network connection (not shared, not hosting general network traffic. (Such as Ubiquity M2 Rocket) How would it handle a layer 3 switch or router in the middle?

A: Our network is built on gigabit managed switches feeding wall ports and wifi access points. When these transmitters and receivers are hooked up anywhere on the network, it basically disables wifi by swamping the access points with multicast packets. I have to create VLANs on the switches to separate the video traffic from everything else in order to keep wifi working. However, even without the VLANs, performance on the wired network seems ok while these things are running.

Q: 7. Can you have multiple transmitters on the same network and flip between sources?

A: There are no controls on the receiver so no way to flip between sources. The transmitters do multicast across the whole network so the best way to do what you want (with these boxes) would be to set up separate physical networks or create virtual LANs to separate the various transmitters. A receiver's port would need to be assigned to a particular VLAN to receive the signal from the transmitter on that VLAN.

Q: 8. Do both (transmitter and receiver) need power ? or ONLY one of them?

A: Yes, both the transmitter and receiver will need to be powered. It will come with 2 AC power supplies.

Q: 9. live switching application software?

A: Can you be more specific?

Q: 10. Will this mount to a sound equipment rack?

A: Yes, the MuxLab 4x4 4K60 HDMI Matrix Switch ships with rack mount ears included. The included ears allow mounting in standard 19" racks.

[0.5 - 1.0 V p-p] Works well. We are using it over a very long cat 6 cable.

[0.5 - 1.0 V p-p] We have 2 TVs in a High School that we use for digital signage. We had used other vga over ethernet adapters but we ran into picture quality issues. Using these with an additional receiver we were able to hook these up to our network switch and had no issues. Picture and audio quality is perfect. Since we use managed network switches we created its own VLAN for 3 ports so other network traffic was not effected. If you don't use managed switches buy a cheap $40 5 port switch and it's a plug and play installation. I like the suggestion from another reviewer about having these devices having the option for power over ethernet. Anything that doesn't require a separate power adapter is handy.

[5 V p-p (TTL)] I have a couple sets of these. They come in very handy. Little to no added latency.

[38 kHz] I upgraded to the Ocean Matrix because the other brand I had was inconsistent in it's connection and it was frustrating. I use these with my Canon XA45 Camera and we extend 150 feet with no problem. LOVE IT!

[38 kHz] We have used this in our auditorium for almost a year over approximately an 150’ run for still images and 1080p video. Never had a drop out even during hour long video presentations and Set-Up was super easy. Going to get a second for a lobby monitor.

[38 kHz] I have two systems running off of these in two different applications. One is as a straight 1to 1 extender, and the other is 1 Tx to 4 Rx through a standard switch. Both run 1080p with varying lengths of cable (50-125’). All devices have worked flawlessly since install. 2 years and one year respectively.
