This unit uses an A1248 lamp for 230 VAC current. Do not attempt to adapt this fixture for use with 110 to 120 voltage; the wiring is not designed for the higher amperage of lower voltage. For 110 to 120  VAC, use model #ARF150.

Along with the other ARRI Fresnels, the 150W will mount on all stands and mounting accessories with a 5/8" stud. All lamps must be purchased separately.

The use of barndoors, scrims, snoots, and filter frames adds to the superb lighting quality produced by this light.

Q: 1. What is the background noise of theses one like in shooting conditions? Do they require additional sound caution? Thanks.

A: These are passive cooled. no noise.

Q: 2. where are the barn doors for the Fresnel 150?

A: Barn doors are an accessory, and need to be purchased separately. You may also want to purchase some scrims and a spare bulb.

Q: 3. What sort of tungsten fresnel would this be closest to? A 150? 300? Lumens I can figure out but lux is Greek...

A: This light produces 1258 LUX at 6 feet, which close to the output of what an Arri 150 Fresnel would give you in flood position when set at about 3.5 feet.

Q: 4. Does B&H carry 240 volt bulbs to go with this? Can't seem to find them. Thanks.

A: They sell them separately. https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/102946-REG/Arri_531642_CP89_Lamp_650.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/102946-REG/Arri_531642_CP89_Lamp_650.html/a

A: This fresnels could be used for lighting a stage if used in close proximity.

Q: 6. can i upgrade my bulbs to 220v on these units?

A: These lights can accept bulbs for use in a 220v environment which can be purchased separately. For the 650 Fresnel, you can use the Sylvania/Osram FRL (650W/230V). The 300 Fresnel can use the GE FSL Lamp (300W/230V). Lastly, the 150 Fresnel can use the Ushio JCV Lamp (200W/230V). Please see the images below for reference.

Q: 7. Does this Model ARRI 650 Plus (Black Model L1.79405.A) come with an Edison 3 prong ground plug?

A: Yes. US, 3 pronged. It is exactly what you would expect

Q: 8. How many Lumen does the Arri 650 put out? I most often use the Arri 650 but I'm switching to LED's and want to find out which LED's put out a similar amout of lumen.

A: This Mole Richardson https://bhpho.to/2MY1xbC measures on a light meter very similarly to a 650w tungsten fresnel. Overall the ratio from LED to tungsten is about 5:1 when comparing similar fixtures. Fresnel to fresnel or softbox to softbox. 100w LED is about 500w tungsten.

Q: 9. Do the bulbs blow as easily as lowel pro light bulbs?

A: Do you touch the bulb when placing it in the fixture? One of the first things I was taught on my first job was never touch a bulb when inserting it into the fixture. The oils on your hand gets on the bulb and when turned on, the oils heat up and the bulb will blow. I've had both Arri's(currently this 150 and a 300) and Lowel lights over the years and never had bulbs go out prematurely in either brand. While I believe Arri makes a more durable light than Lowel, you shouldn't have bulb issues if A) Buy a quality bulb, B) Never touch the bulb and C) Handle your lights with more care than an ABC7 news crew.

Q: 10. Is this 650W enough to use as a main light for talking head videos?

A: Yes

[220 VAC, 50 Hz] Very versatile little light. Heats up but thats generally not a factor. Good for subtle background lighting or highlighting hair. Can use it for product shots too, a little more predictable than flash. Quality item, as always from Arri. No matter how enamored you are of your strobe equipment, you need at least one of these.

[14 to 42°] I needed a small, easy utility light. Arri gear, in general, is quality, and this light is no exception. It's perfect for a back kicker, an overhead pool to draw attention to a certain part of the frame, or to use as a source for a practical lamp. The 150s are the scalpels of the industry. They can't dim on their own, but with the Impact D1000 dimmer it's unbeatable. I brought this on an independent shoot and it saved many shots. Also, skin loves tungsten light.

[9.8' / 3 m] Great addition for a lightweight travel interview lighting kit. I use this primarily as a hair light or to add interest to a background. You can't beat the light quality from a fresnel lens. You always need at LEAST one hard light in your interview kit. 150w isn't that bright but perfect for talking heads interviews. The ability to spot and flood the light as well as shape it with barn-doors is essential to having a hard light. If you can't afford the Dedolight 150 (which is brighter than this light but roughly the same size) this is the light for you.

[1x GX6.35] This is my first excursion into the world of serious studio lighting. For my simple home studio for selling my glass art on ETSY, this was the perfect investment. The size and weight are suitable to a lightweight stand & arm. The small lens keeps glare to a minimum, working in a confined area. The focusing action by itself makes a noticeable difference - the barn door and snoot are well-made and indispensable for my needs. More power would have been nice, but with my setup, I do not think it would be worth the extra size, weight and heat with the 300 watt model - maybe for larger subjects and/or more general purpose applications, but that's not what I currently do. I am very impressed with the construction, glad I didn't skimp on some flimsy cheaper unit.

[150 W] We bought this light to round out our set up of some soft boxes and higher wattage fresnel's. It worked fantastically and provided a great small source of light for providing additional accents into a scene. 150 watts is perfect for small room lighting and when paired with a silk in front can be a great compact main light.

[150 W] I always wanted one of these... 20 yrs ago in film school I did a lot of stop motion work and always wanted a smaller light than little tweenies... Now, I wanted it as a hair light...basically power didn't matter too much, it was just that the lighter and smaller the light, the quicker it is to give dark haired people that little kick (especially if the background is dark)---this is for anything, I work on features, music videos, and docs...) Well, sensors are so much more powerful than the film stocks from back in the day, wow! This is so much more powerful now. In a pinch, I could use it as a key (with lots of diffusion) for an interview. It cools really well, and the flood/spot control is really smooth (as to be expected from Arri), and this is just one of the little, but hugely important differences between this light and cheapie redheads.

[3"] I use this for key, fill, hairlight, or backlight for DSLR/C100 interviews depending on the amount of light I want to throw and number of lights I'm using. Light enough to easily put on a c-stand arm with a baby pin so you can mount it about anywhere you can think of. Three of these, with some diffusion, scrims or bounce on the fill are perfect for a small interview kit when you can control the lighting and are using DSLR type sensors that don't need much light. If there's a lot of ambient light, you need to step up to the 300 or 650 watt Arris for key, and then probably start using some neutral density filters on the lenses. In that situation the Arri 150 still works great for fill or hair.

[220 VAC, 50 Hz] I use this light mostly as a hair light or to hilight a product or item in the background. Excellent quality, versatile. Small, packs easily. I use a dimmer as necessary to control levels. Do use the barndoors - necessary to control spill.

[11 x 6.9 x 5.9"] It's everything you would expect out a tungsten Fresnel, with the dependability and craftsmanship of the Arri name. This light is built to last, and despite its small size, 'shines' with professional craftmanship and consideration. Whether it is the focus knob in the back, the pop-open top for easy bulb replacement, the sturdy and strong yoke, or the spring mounted barndoor/scrim holder, this light's features put it above its competitors. Yes, it gets hot, but its tungsten, that's to be expected. Bottom line: If you need a kicker or accent that is light enough to be mounted just about anywhere, with the dependability of the Arri name, this light is for you.
