A: yes. this is a great item. i use cloth backgrounds and they work perfectly. i have actually never used role paper. you will bee a cardboard tube to attached the cloth or other material to but that is simple.

A: As long as the wooden crossmember is flat, these poles can press between it and the floor easily.

A: Hey there, I'm Stu, a recent buyer of this system. I don't have my measuring tape out, so I can't speak to the measurements in your question. The two vertical poles telescope and lock. I don't know what the range of heights is. Meanwhle, there are the cross-poles which can be joined to extend the width available for backdrops. All in all, it's a pretty cool system, but do pay attention to the height ranges of the vertical poles and your ceiling height. If the poles can't reach your ceiling or if they're too tall, it won't work for you. Best of luck.
