The Tiffen 77mm Skylight Filter for Wide Angle Lensesis a general use filter with a slight pink tint to help improve overall color accuracy and clarity. The light pink coloration helps to reduce the overall bluish cast of daylight and is especially effective when photographing landscapes and in shade.

The Sky 1A filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

This filter features a slimmer profile mounting ring, which is ideal for use with wide angle lenses. It does not have front filter threads for stacking filters.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm new to lens filters, how does this attach to the lens?

A: Welcome to the world of filters! :) It's simple, really! The front of your lens has female receiving threads and this filter has male threads; you simply screw the filter into the front of the lens till you feel some slight resistance (for tightness) and you're good to go! You want to make sure you're buying the right size filter for the right lens diameter. That's the only consideration you'll need to make for the most part.

Q: 2. Does this fit Summicron 35mm f/2 ASPH (#11673)?

A: It will work with that lens as long as you are also using the lens hood that comes with the lens.

Q: 3. Does this have female threads on the outside to attach a ND filter ?

A: The Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filter does not have front filter threads.

Q: 4. Does it include a front cap?

A: No. The following unit does not come with a cap. We suggest the following item Sensei 77mm Filter Stack Caps BH #SESC77 • MFR #SC-77 https://bhpho.to/3s3LACT

Q: 5. Can you mount a filter or screw in hood to the front of this filter?

A: No; this filter uses a Wide Angle (Low Profile) mount. In order to help eliminate vignetting (darkening of the corners), it does not have a front thread. As the Tiffen 58mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filter does not have front filter threads, you would not be able to connect a screw-in filter or a screw-in lens hood onto the front of the filter.

Q: 6. Will this 77mm filter fit onto the Canon RF 70-200mm f2.8 lens with the supplied Canon lens hood attached?

A: Yes, the Tiffen 77mm Low-Profile Design Circular Polarizer will fit without obstruction from the RF 70-200mm f/2.8 lens hood. The lens hood has a filter window that you may open to spin the circular polarizer.

Q: 7. Will a standard lens cap still clip onto this filter (asking because it doesn't have front threads)?

A: Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filter has 67mm front threads. You can attach your lenscap on this filter.

Q: 8. will this work with a canon 18-135mm lens?

A: It is the right size for your lens but if you use it at the widest angle you'll get some vignetting where the edge of the filter will appear as a dark shadow in the outer corners of the image. It won't be a problem at longer focal lengths. This is tolerable if you can crop these corners in post production. This filter will really raise the quality of light and colour in your landscapes.

Q: 9. does it fit on a 28mm Summicron M ASPH with hood?

A: Yes, the Leica Lens Hood Cap for Leica Wide-Angle Lenses (MFR #14212) will fit on the Leica Lens Hood for Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH (MFR #12471).

Q: 10. What is the minimum usable focal length for film camera?

A: On a 35mm film camera lens, you can use any focal length longer than 17mm.

[0.175 lb] Works great with Sigma 16mm. Did not affect the image sharpness. I enjoy how it makes colors pop slightly.

[0.175 lb] I have been using the 812 warming filter on all of my camera lenses, since 1980 I never take it off, as it takes care of the lens and adds a little warmth to all of my photographs. I believe is better than a UV filter for general photography, and for portraiture is terrific.

[77 mm] This polarizing filter is just what you need to help capture that perfect picture on a bright day. I use this filter with my Canon EF-S10-18mm F4.5-5.6 IS STM Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens. This has been one of my favorite purchases! It helps bring out the blue in the sky as well as battling all those annoying glares that appear on windows and bodies of water. 10/10 recommend for all landscape photographers! This filter is a MUST.

[Glass] Great price and works well, I have a hard time justifying the price of more expensive ones as they will eventually be dropped and scratched by me. Yes, I may be clumsy.
