The Schoeps CCM 2XS LG Omnidirectional Microphoneis a miniaturization of classic condenser microphone technology, without a compromise in sonic quality. The microphone features the same capsule as the equivalent Collete Series microphone with comparable amplifier circuitry but in a much smaller length. The capsule and amplifier are inseparable within a single housing.

As a true condenser, the microphone delivers a low noise and distortion flat frequency response without the need for electronic frequency correction. Its small and lightweight form factor makes it appropriate for universal use including installed hanging applications. It can run on both +48V and +12V phantom power and be used with very long cables over 328' (100 m) in length.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the differences between this set and the CMIT 5u?

A: The Schoeps CMIT 5U is a 9.9" shotgun microphone with a supercardioid and lobar pickup pattern while the Schoeps Colette Mono Kit is a compact Colette Series modular supercardioid condenser microphone bundle that includes the modular MK41 Supercardioid Condenser Microphone Capsule, the CUT 60 Low-Cut Filter for Colette Series Microphones CMC 1, and the CMC 1 U Miniature Colette Microphone Amplifier. The mic capsule is only 0.9" and the mic amp is 1.4".

Q: 2. will it fit the CMC 1 with both the cut 60 and mk 41?

A: Yes, this should work with the CMC1, Cut 60, and MK41 capsules together.

Q: 3. Why does this description contradict itself re: midrange frequencies and off-axis performance?

A: I apologize for any confusion with the product overview. Our web team handles these issues and will be happy to review. Each product page also features a link at the bottom, in which you are able to submit if you believe there is an error on the page. If there are any details or specifications you are unclear on, the manual is attached to the product page for reference. A Representative in our Pro Audio Department will be happy to assist you with any questions as well. Please call 800-606-6969.

Q: 4. Hey sound guys and cam ops, what if i put this on my camera top? for run and gun documentary filming? Will there be difference?

A: The Schoeps MiniCMIT is a high-quality short shotgun microphone that can be camera-mounted and used for run-and-gun documentary filming with excellent results.

Q: 5. What is the size and weight of this microphone?

A: As per the Manufacturer: CCM 41 LG Length: 46 mm Diameter: 20 mm Weight: 45 g

Q: 6. May I ask whether this is the limited production run set, please?

A: Yes. This is the limited production model. There are very few left.

Q: 7. anyone have a preferred softie windjammer for this mic that doesn't add too much bulk to it? lots of the ones listed for accessories here are for regular length shotguns. thanks

A: Given its extremely small size, presently there is no softie windjammer available. The best way to shield the Schoeps MiniCMIT against wind noise is by using a windshield kit; BH# RY086072.

Q: 8. Would this work with the sanken CS-M1?

A: Yes, it will.

Q: 9. How’s the rear and side rejection? Thx for your time in advance

A: Thank you for your question. This microphone features a Lobar/Supercardiod pattern for excellent rear and side rejection

Q: 10. will this work with the CMC 1 and cut 60?

A: Yes, this should work with the CMC1 and the Cut 60 capsule together.

[48 V] Well if I had to choose one Mic this would be it!

[48 V] All my go to microphones for field location audio are first and foremost Schoeps. I have a pair of Schoeps cmc641s and snagged a cmit5u when it was first introduced. I was in the market for adding a second cmit5u and saw that the miniCMIT had just been released. So glad I waited for this newer version. It's size makes it incredibly versatile in tight locations. It's lighter in weight than its big brother (cmit5u) but has the same sonic quality. The only thing you give up on the mini model is some of the filter options. I've used this on multiple shoots and interviews and it is a stellar microphone. The one thing I appreciate most about Schoeps microphones is the overall lack of coloration. Once I'm back in my studio listening to playback I can close my eyes and it's like the talent is sitting there right next to me speaking clear, uncolored, natural audio. That being said there is a lot of buzz about Schoeps microphones being susceptible to humidity causing the mic to motorboat. I have only had this happen once with my cmit5u in an extremely humid interior interview. For that reason I highly recommend you always have on hand a microphone that is impervious to humidity and moisture (Rode NTG-3, Sennheiser MKH 50, Sennheiser MKH 416 or whatever you prefer). But otherwise all my Schoeps have performed well in some very humid environments. If I were headed to the Amazon Rain Forest or somewhere incredibly wet and humid I would leave all my Schoeps at home and go with a sure thing that could endure that much moisture. And yes, there are times I will choose another mic for very specific reasons dictated by the room or the talent's voice, but otherwise I'm swinging a Schoeps on my pole at least 95% of the time. Money well spent.

[Mono] I spent months listening and relistening to every shotgun mic test available online. I listened to every boom mic test as well. I decided that a much cheaper boom mic than a Schoeps could work well, and I went with the AT. But as far as shotgun mics, absolutely nothing could touch the "broadcast ready" sound of the CMIT. Even the mini CMIT doesn't have the same dynamics as the the higher voltage full sized CMIT. I'm not a sound person, but rather a director/DP and also an audiophile who appreciates what outstanding audio brings to a production. I've only used the mic on indoor shoots so far, but haven't found any comb filter problems. While I haven't tested, I feel like using a CMIT in less than optimal conditions (or far away from talent during wide shots) would provide a good basis for cleaning up audio in Izotope RX advanced.

[Black] Best. Analog. Shotgun Mic. Ever. Hands down. If you can afford this mic.....get it. So crisp and clear!!! There are other great shotgun mics out there that have a really warm sound like the Neumann KMR 81 i MT which is also an amazing shotgun mic! I also use my Sennheiser MKH8060 for documentaries and reality tv and it is by far my favorite for those applications (although it is actually quite good in narrative too. Just picks up a lot of background noise) because it is so forgiving on off-axis sound and doesn't add any discoloration to any off-axis dialogue/sound! But like I said......Schoeps is still the best in my opinion. From my list from budget - very good - best....it would have to be: Rode/Audio Technica - Sennheiser/Neumann - Schoeps.

[Low Cut/HPF] This is the Rolls Royce of shotgun mics For outdoors and certain indoor application, the off axis coloration is very smooth which makes booming conversations between two or more talent very easy.

The filters included in the mic do wonders and while you want to let post handle EQ'ing, sometimes it is nice to use some treatment on set for client playback, sometimes your client do not have sound post and they are delighted with the sound they walk away from set, more than one client have been overly satisfied with the sound, claiming is some of the best they have heard.

This mic pairs really well with DPA 4060 and 6060 series.

[Omnidirectional] I'm using this mic to not over to provide voice-over commentary for a documentary that I'm working on, but also for Zoom meetings. Together, with the absolutely tiny stand (Schoeps TCg Miniature Table Stand), the mic is a discrete 'boom' mic that disappears on the desktop and avoids extraneous room sounds. While expensive, the quality and size are unbeatable.

And if you're already using the mic for its typical use, it can now dual-purpose as a very high quality desktop mic using the Schoeps TCg stand.
