A: Yes, the MICROgrip Rod can certainly be used to mount a Wescott Flex 1x1. That fixtures weight is 7oz. and will easily be supported.

Q: 2. Other than the Matthews 4 rod for MICROgrip applications, do any of their other rods 6 , 8 , 12 , 20 ) come with a 3/8-16 threaded male stud? All photos appear to indicate that their longer rods are only tapped with a 3/8-16 female, but not a 3/8-16 male.

A: I have 4, 6, 8, 12, and 20 inch MICROgrip rods, with 4-8 pieces in each size. They all have Male threads on one side, and Female threads on the other, allowing you to screw them together to make any length necessary. I heavily rely on this feature for various car mount configurations, especially for stabilizing the top of the camera. I sometimes also use extra MICROgrip rods down to the car floor for over-the-shoulder car mount shots. For mounting the bottom of the camera cheese plate to the suction cups, I usually use the larger 5/8 rods, but adding extra MICROgrip rods to that basic mount makes it rock solid.

Q: 3. Can this be used to hold a camera in the overhead position? / . Anyone know the load capacity?

A: Apart from a GoPro of small 360cam, no. Maybe a Sony6300

A: It depends how you mount it. The pin is removable if needed.

A: The set screw is not designed to be removed. It is fixed into place with red locktite and would require a torch to loosen and remove.

A: They are NOT compatable with 15mm rod systems. The rods are 3/8 in diameter.

Q: 10. How thick is the rod. Is this 10mm and able to be used with the Feiyu AK follow focus II

A: The MicroGrip Rod is 3/8" which converts to 9.525mm. Not familiar with the specs of the Feiyu AK follow focus II.

[7 x 0.2 x 0.1"] I use these rods in various sizes to hold small reflectors for tabletop macro work. I screw them into cheese plates and use MiniGrip heads to help put the reflector exactly where I want it. Small one pound hand weights help to stabilize the rig. Thanks goes to Joey Terrill for recommending these. 5

[7 x 0.2 x 0.1"] I own a small home studio and I'm in the process of completing acoustic treatment in the room. I decided to mount a distant ribbon mic high in the far corner of the room. To tame frequencies in that corner I built a 1' X 1' X 2 acoustic panel with 703 insulation, a wood frame and FR701 fabric. Rather than hang this panel I wanted to do a rigid mount from the ceiling. I had a number of Matthews MicroGrip arms and clamps but I needed the two CAMVATE mounts and a shorter 6-inch MicroGrip rod to complete the installation. The CAMVATE Table Mounts and MicroGrip hardware allowed me to do the exact rigid mount that I envisioned. Of course you can't do pull ups on this, but the MicroGrip hardware allows me to angle and articulate the exact placement of the panel in a solid manner. 5
