The Schoeps CCM 4VP LG Compact Condenser Microphoneis a miniaturization of classic condenser microphone technology, without a compromise in sonic quality. The microphone features the same capsule as the equivalent Collete Series microphone with comparable amplifier circuitry but in a much smaller length. The capsule and amplifier are inseparable within a single housing.

As a true condenser, the microphone delivers a low noise and distortion flat frequency response without the need for electronic frequency correction. Its small and lightweight form factor makes it appropriate for universal use including installed hanging applications. It can run on both +48V and +12V phantom power and be used with very long cables over 328' (100 m) in length.

Moderate Proximity Attenuation    Does Not Require Frequency Correction    Balanced Low-Impedance Output    For Universal Use    Suitable For Installed Applications    Compact and Lightweight Form Factor    Sound Independent of Directional Pattern    Runs on 48V and 12V Phantom Power    Works with Cables Over 100 Meters

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the best windshield (dead cat) that will fit?

A: Since the Sennheiser MKH 8050 Microphone is only 2.9" long with a 19mm diameter, you can use the Bubblebee Industries "The Spacer" Bubble Windshield & Fur Cover System for Small-Diaphragm Mics - Black, Extra-Small (B&H # BUBBISBXS) or the Rycote Baseball Felt-Covered Windscreen - Black, 19/20mm, Single (B&H # RY039701). Both items will fit properly and will provide sufficient protection from wind noise. If you need a replacement for the foam windscreen that comes included with the mic, you can order the Sennheiser MZW-8000 Windscreen for MKH8000 Series Microphones (B&H # SEMZW8000).

Q: 2. What are the differences between cmc1 and cmc1u? tks.

A: The "CMC 1 U" is the part identifier for the amplifier portion of the Schoeps CMC 1 (the body of the microphone), without any capsule. The Schoeps CMC 1 Microphone Amp, MK 41 Supercardioid Condenser Capsule, and Cinela Windshield (Matte Gray) includes the amplifier, the MK 41 capsule, and a windshield.

Q: 3. Why is the matched pairs expensive than the single Nt55?

A: The matched pair comes with 2 microphones. The single NT55 comes with 1 microphone.

Q: 4. Would you use these mics on a camera for field reference audio?

A: Yes, the Rode NT55 Compact Condenser Microphone with Interchangeable Capsules could be used on a camera with XLR inputs providing phantom power to capture reference audio. The cardioid capsule included with the NT55 is suggested as opposed to the omni capsule for this application, in order to capture an audio perspective reflective of what the camera is seeing.

Q: 5. Does it come with any kind of protective case?

A: No, a case is not included with the MK 41 capsule.

Q: 6. What the best windscreen that will fit?

A: This foam wind protection is included SEMZW8000 in the bix: In the Box Sennheiser MKH 8050 Compact Supercardioid Condenser Microphone MKH 8050 Microphone Head Sennheiser MZX 8000 XLR Module for MKH-8000 Capsules Sennheiser MZQ-8000 Standard Microphone Clip for MKH-8000 Microphones Sennheiser MZW-8000 Windscreen for MKH8000 Series Microphones Aluminum Transport Case Limited 2-Year Warranty Other options as spares: Foam: B&H # AUWHF2040 or WI1200B

Q: 7. Need a single XLR microphone that picks up multiple speakers on a stage to feed into my camera. Will this work?

A: If your camera has XLR inputs that will provide 48 volt phantom power the MKH 8020 will record a wide area of sound. Without knowing your exact set-up and usage I can not say for sure if this would provide adequate coverage.

Q: 8. What are the differences between this set and the CMIT 5u?

A: The Schoeps CMIT 5U is a 9.9" shotgun microphone with a supercardioid and lobar pickup pattern while the Schoeps Colette Mono Kit is a compact Colette Series modular supercardioid condenser microphone bundle that includes the modular MK41 Supercardioid Condenser Microphone Capsule, the CUT 60 Low-Cut Filter for Colette Series Microphones CMC 1, and the CMC 1 U Miniature Colette Microphone Amplifier. The mic capsule is only 0.9" and the mic amp is 1.4".

Q: 9. Will this cable work to connect a schoeps CMBI to a regular 3 pin xlr input with phantom power?

A: The CMBI is designed for connection to unbalanced high impedance inputs and to allow the capsules to be battery powered or powered externally via plug in power (+6v max) . It would not be compatible with the K 5 LU or phantom power.

Q: 10. Is this a stereo set for $1,200?

A: Yes, this is a stereo set.

[Phantom Power] There really isn't a whole lot to say here, so I'm going to keep it pretty brief. This is an outstanding-sounding mic. The response is rich and incredibly transparent. For somple people it may sound too clinical, but to my ears it's a great match. It certainly packs a punch with regard to low frequency pickup, one can really feel the street resonance from tailpipes and trucks driving by during ambience recording. If going handheld, you will certainly need to mitigate the low end content with the MZF8000, otherwise if used in a shockmount windjammer system a, Rycote connbox will be necessary. I personally use this mic paired with an MKH 30 Side for M/S. A very slight warning is that when boosted a lot (as in, 50dB or more), there will be light hiss extending into the upper harmonics, which if the recording is pitched down (since it captures up to 50kHz) will be noticeable. Again, this is ONLY if you boost the signal by such an obscene amount deemed criminal by proper signal flow recording practices, and ONLY in the extreme upper harmonics. Aside from that this mic is for all practical purposes noise-free. Such a small mic which packs such a punch. I would gladly invest in more mics from the 8000 series. You certainly get what you pay for.

[48 V] Used for violin solos and string quartet recordings with XY stereo technique, connected to Zoom H6 so far. Base noise is low, and high frequency pick up is impressive. For the price, it is a great deal. Highly recommended.

[Solid-State] I have two of these. I use them for interior interviews/ dialog work for film and TV. They simply sound great (or rather, capture sound superbly). The off-axis sounds are suitably reduced with this super-cardioid pattern mic while also delivering naturally sounding off axis sounds—-off axis the tone does not shift, it simply reduces in audio level, which is ideal for film / TV dialog work.
One caveat to this mic is it really needs the extra in line low cut filter + pad to deliver best service. The MKH8050 has a robust low frequency capture which is great for the sake of obtaining full spectrum frequency recordings. But for dialog work, cutting low frequencies is more desirable to my taste. AND, when using the MKH8050 on a boom pole, the low frequency sensitivity of this mic makes it susceptible to handling noise—-the low cut filter aids in eliminating that issue… even if you are a gentle boom operator, the MKH8050 without the low cut filter will give you problems with handling noise, in my experience. Add the filter and you are good to go.
This is a serious tool for high end recording work. It is an expensive investment, but if sound recording is your occupation, you will be very happy to have this awesome microphone as part of your collection of microphones.

[Omnidirectional] With the pair of microphones mounted on the stereo bar I was able to easily capture a conversation of two documentary subjects, avoiding the hassle of panning a single shotgun mic or fussing with lav mics. The sound quality in the recording was lovely, and the convenience of mounting the mics next to each other and directed toward the subjects was phenomenal. This setup opens up many possibilities at a modest price. My first real-world use case was a resounding success.

[Side Address] They're Schoeps so there's little to say about that. I've used this stereo set in a variety of ways. From recording choirs to field recording train stations and dance rehearsals. They're crystal clear and capture sound exactly as you hear it. It's incredible how compact they are. The preamps are compatible with other Schoeps Colette capsules so there's a lot of modularity you can get with this set.

You're making a big investment with this stereo set and you get what you pay for.

[Low Cut/HPF] If those within the Budget less than $1K ,this is One the Best MP Microphone comparing to my Schoeps , AKG and Sennheiser ( All MP in my studio ) . The difference is less than 10% to my own experience . Its one of the best for recording Outdoor for sound effects and other musical Instruments ( Different Branding of MP Microphone sound slightly different ) . I just love the NT55 MP as the rest of my High End MP microphones , I used for other application either in Stage or Studio recording . Just buy it and use it . Do Not need to compare price point and Branding . Worth Every cents that would last for years of usage with 10 years registered warranty . Highly Recommended ..............Kudos to Rode ........

[Phantom Power] I purchased two of these mics to use for indoor interviews. Previously, I was using the Rode NTG3, a supercardioid shotgun condenser microphone. While I think the NTG3 is an excellent mic, shotgun mics are made for windy conditions, typically outdoors. When used indoors, shotgun mics can produce odd sound artifacts. When it became time for me to pick up a dedicated professional indoor mic, the Sennheiser MKH 8050 was top on my list after a lot of research. I do not regret my purchase. The MKH8050 is a perfect dialogue mic. The vocals come through crystal clear along with greatly reduced room noise compared to my previous mic, even when the room is untreated with sound proofing. If you're looking for a crystal clear mic that is built to last and is proven in the industry (even in humid conditions thanks to the RF technology), I recommend the MKH8050.
