The SSH-6 is a stereo mid-side shotgun microphone with two internal mic capsules which each pickup sound from a different direction in order to create a wider stereo image with more ambience than a mic that picks up sound from one direction. One capsule from the SSH-6 is extremely focused on picking up sound on center and can be combined with its bidirectional capsule which is able to pickup sound from the left or right side to create a spacious stereo image that can be mono-compatible. For example, you can record dialogue with the center microphone and then mix in the desired amount of ambient sound captured by the side microphone. Both models are very good for picking up dialog. The SGH-6 is for one direction and SSH-6 is also capable of stereo imaging.
