A: The outside diameter is around 97mm-98mm. A 100mm lens cap will be loose.

A: Yes you can use the PolarPro Variable ND filters.

Q: 6. Is some vignetting expected when using this step up ring at wider apertures? Can vignetting be reduced by stopping down?

A: One should not expect vignetting when using the Heliopan 49-62mm Step-Up Ring (#175). The 62mm filter will be significantly wider than the 49mm lens threading and should not get into the image at all.

Q: 7. Will the 54mm end fit a lens with series VII (Series 7) threads? I believe they are 54.3mm (2 1/8 inches).

A: unfortunately this will not.

Q: 8. What is the thickness of this filter in mm, especially the outside 82mm diameter portion?

A: The thickness of this step up ring is about 4mm.

Q: 9. Can this cause vignetting on a Laowa 7.5mm lens?

A: The Heliopan 46-58mm Step-Up Ring will not cause vignetting if attached to the Laowa 7.5 lens, but the "lens hood" must be removed to allow for the connection of the 46-58 step up ring.

Q: 10. Does using a 62 mm lense instead of a 52 mm lense make a difference in photo quality?

A: In general, no. However, it can be used to prevent vignetting on a wide angle lens with a standard ring polarizer or when stacking more than one filter on a lens.

[49 mm to 52 mm] Using for 58mm ND filters on smaller (micro four-thirds) Olympus lenses. Well constructed, works as it is supposed to, doesn't get stuck. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. 5

[49 mm to 52 mm] I am using this step up ring to put filters on my Panasonic LX100. The lens housing on the LX100 is roughly 58mm, so when I use this, its flush with housing. A really clean setup. I bought this instead of cheaper step up rings since this is made out of brass and I'll be swapping out filters frequently. It has worked great so far. Never a snag. 5

[49 mm to 52 mm] Hefty, durable ring. Dense brass. Smooth threads. Optimal release properties. Works best with THIN ring filters. Old style, thick ring filters will have longer male threads, causing the filter end to hit bottom before filter shoulder makes contact with Step-Up ring rim. Regardless, it works. 5

[49 mm to 52 mm] I tried three different step-up rings for my lx100 and the Heliopan was the only of three that didn't cause a lens error when the lens was retracted. If you're in the same boat, this is the one to go for! 5

[Brass] I have older version of Leica R 35/2 lens. It takes 48mm filters or I can use step-up rings for 52mm or any larger size filters. Well, the problem is that 48mm filters can be hardly found. If I did find them, they are very expensive. So I purchased 48-52mm step up ring by Heliopan that is what I review now. Heliopan step up rings are fantastic, because they are brass rings, not aluminum ones. They will not bind nor cross thread either. I have all sort of step up rings by B+W, but they are anodized aluminum. I don't trust their rigidity. Also they sometimes are stuck with filter rims, so binding is a real problem with any brand name step-up, -down rings as long as they are made from aluminum. Heliopan 48-52 mm ring is a bit heavy, but I like its solid feel and it gives me a worry free confidence from binding or cross thread. It will last than any filters or myself for that matter! 5
