The completely modular Chrosziel Cine.1 Triple-Stage Matte Box 19mmfrom Chrosziel Cine.1 Triple-Stage Matte Box 19mmis built to be strong yet lightweight to fit into your handheld or studio camera rig. Having a matte box on the front of your lens allows you more flexilbility in lighting your scene by blocking light sources just out of frame from directly entering the lens, which can cause the lens to flare, and introduce image artifacts. This particular iteration of the Cine.1 series can be mounted on 19mm studio rods, and is configured with three filter stages, which can be easily removed when not required by your production.

A top flag (also called an eyebrow) is included to block extraneous light from above. The flag folds in half for a smaller footprint when it's packed away. As an added touch, the flag has security holes which mate with safety latches on the matte box, preventing the flag from accidentally falling during installation.

Chrosziel's swing-away arm assembly enables faster lens changes by conveniently moving the matte box out of the way of the lens. In addition to providing swing-away functionality, the assembly has joints which allow you to tilt the matte box to avoid filter reflections, as well as slide it horizontally and vertically when fitting it to your lens, compensating for possible inconsistencies found in complex rigging scenarios.

The Cine.1 matte box housing is constructed from high-impact polymer blend. This material is very rigid and resistant to cracking, yet keeps the weight of the matte box down as to not unbalance your rig. The surround is constructed from aluminum

Using the multiple threaded mounting points, accessories such as side flags, rosettes, a filter catcher, and a top accessory plate, can be attached to expand the functionality of the Cine.1 matte box.

A: Hi Matt , thank you for your interest in SHAPE products! The dimension of the matte box is length: 8 inches , height: 9 inches and depth: 14 inches with the french flag and side wings. Without the french flag and side wings, the dimensions are length: 4 inches , height: 10 inches and depth: 10 inches. As for the weight it is 1.7lb without and 2.5lb with.I hope this will helpKind regards

Q: 2. Can this Matte box hold a double width tray like for a 138mm filter or diopter?

A: The Chrosziel Matte Box 456-20 is designed for use with 2 individual filter trays, allowing rotation of each individual tray. A double thick tray would not fit with this configuration.

Q: 3. Will this hold 4mm thick filters?

A: Yes it should. This should hold any 4x4" or 4x5.65" filter.

Q: 4. I cannot find the two filter trays which were included into the Shape Matte box I bought some time ago. Do you know if it is possible to buy new filter trays separately? Or if it is possible to use other?

A: The trays are not for circular filters, you can use 4x4 filters.

Q: 6. Is there a baseplate and rods that come with this? If not, which ones would work for this matte box with the USA mini?

A: This product does not include a baseplate or rods, however we do have a nice assortment of options to choose from. The Pyro AV URSA Mini Kit (B&H #PY0623) and Wooden Camera Blackmagic URSA Mini Unified Accessory Kit (B&H #WO226300) are nice solutions that offer a baseplate, rods and even a top handle. Or you could look at the Shoulder-Mount Kit for the URSA Mini (B&H #BLURSAMSK) and adding some 15mm rods to it (B&H #IKELE15R12).

Q: 7. Will this matte box cause vignetting when used with a 24mm lens? Paired with a full-frame 35mm image sensor.

Q: 8. Can I use lenses with a diameter of 49mm in this mattebox or would there be any problem in?

A: Yes you can. This does have a universal Knickers for smaller lenses to block out light. You will need to have this matte box mounted on to a 15mm baseplate though.

A: Yes the IRIX Cine Matte box is designed to work with in the IRIX magnetic filter ecosystem. You can use the Irix MMS Magnetic Filters on any lens with the Irix Matte Box IQ and available adapters. A: The ARRI Triple Filter Tray is only compatible with the SMB-2. You will need the Anti-Reflective Frame for clip-on matteboxes as the SMB-2 has the tilting function.
