[Metal] I purchased this product to transport my computer and as a portable work station for photo shoots. The case is very solid in construction there's no give in the case when pressure is applied. It's quite big and very weighty which gives you security but isn't the most lightweight option for computer transportation. The bottom base plate is very secure in its attachment and locks firmly into place when screwed onto my tripod. There is a very small amount of movement of the case itself when you place pressure on a particular side once mounted but not enough to be a problem. The interior pick and pluck foam could be of a higher density to prevent the slight compression once you have cut and inserted a computer in the foam. Having said that I feel my computer is protected during transit and the foam provides a solid base for the fold up visor. The fold up visor fits very well into the lid of the case an provides a snug but very workable tent. The only problem I have come across it the lack of cord access through the side of the case or the fold up visor. You can work around this by feeding cords through the back velcro of the fold up visor. All in all this case functions exactly as I hoped it would and eliminates the need to have both a carry case and tripod mounted work table.

I emailed B&H and asked help! what did I do wrong with this purchase?, they kindly and quickly informed me that the accessories were no longer in production and credited my account. So while I don't use it while on a job, I did find use for it for calibrating my monitors. So it was a win win!

[Metal] I was looking for a budget conscious, sturdy and light weight laptop platform to use with my tethering setup. This platform was perfect for my tethering needs. It is easy to use, supports my 17 laptop and the mouse tray is an added convenience. I highly recommend this platform!

[2 lb] I looked for a while for a platform to hold my MacBook pro.  I did not want to spend an arm an leg, all I needed was a secure way to hold my computer.  This was it, not over priced and it works.

[2 lb] Just installed it on my tripod today and loaded with a heavy laptop case. I was worried if it can not handle the weight in the beginning but it seems pretty sturdy. Good price !

[2 lb] I would give this 4.9 stars if I could as it's great in all but one way, the paint scrapes off very easily. In all other ways, it's excellent. For the price, you are getting a ton in comparison to the two main competitors. It's light in weight, but quite sturdy and ventilated. It includes a nice rubberized mouse platform that locks on but comes off easily. It fits my large and heavy 17.3 Dell Mobile Workstation with ease and the lip keeps the laptop reassuringly secure on the platform. It's a great way to use my old tripod and is very secure once screwed on to the base. Add the fact that you can buy a sun tent for outdoor use and it's a killer package. The only thing you lose over the other guys is the Arca-Swiss and light stand mount, but you can always buy adapters for those. I'm very pleased with my purchase and I'm so glad I found this before spending a ton on something else.

[Metal] I own several. Lightweight, sturdy, and the perforations in the bottom make it so the computer is able to breath.


I pair these with the Manfrotto 394 Low Profile Quick Release Adapters so they snap on and off of their mounting points for storage quickly.

[2 lb] Easy to set up and take down. Plenty of room for my laptop. Allows me to take advantage of working from home and being outside too.
