The Soundcraft Si Impact 40-Input Digital Mixer with USBis a 40-input digital mixing console and 32-in/32-out USB audio interface that supports remote iPad mixing using a proprietary app.

The console is designed to be as simple as an analog mixer, but offers workflow enhancements such as the FaderGlow system, which illuminates each fader track in different colors to provide at-a-glance status information on precisely what the fader is controlling.

Featuring studio-grade reverbs, delays, and modulations from Lexicon, dbx dynamics, and BSS graphic equalizers, the Si Impact comes fully equipped to mix everything from rock bands to stage plays. Q: 1. Does this board work with Protools and does it control the Protools interface?

A: You may use the Soundcraft Si Impact to record audio into protools via the USB interface. You may not however control the protools software interface because this is not a midi controller.

Q: 2. I was seeing the Soundcraft Si Impact in the Soundcraft website and i can see that this model is not compatible with the Soundcraft ViSi Remote App (only is compatible the Expresion and Performer Si series), just is compatible with the Soundcraft ViSi Listen. So its means that i cant manage all the mixing functions from an Ipad like other mixers like Presonus or Behringer, so just i can up and down levels (like a personal monitors), but i havent. all functionallity like others. Is this right or not?

A: I asked them on Twitter and Soundcraft replied that the viSi Remote does work on theimpact. Check with themOn twitter.

Q: 3. does it have automixing capabilities?

A: No, the Soundcraft Si Impact does not have automixing capabilities.

Q: 4. The box dimensions are listed as 19 wide by 7 high, but the form is described as floor and I only see holes on the left side handle. Can it be securely mounted vertically in a 4 unit rack in a way that it will withstand local touring use?

A: And yes, the UI16 can be mounted in a standard rack.

Q: 5. power supply for this unit comes with universal power supply cord 100-250v or do i use a regular 110 cord for america?

A: The Soundcraft Si Impact features an auto-sensing global power supply; 88 to 264 VAC. The power cord provided is based on the region the mixer is purchased in. When purchasing at B&H, you'd receive a power cable for use in North America.

Q: 6. Does this unit USB connect to a PC (like Behringer XR18) and DAW recording with multiple recording software? IF not is the XR18 the only unit out there that does?

A: No, The USB connection are used for software updates, snapshots, play audio files and recording. I don't know of a unit at this price that will what the XR18 does with the USBs. There are others but they are more expense.

Q: 7. USB 3.0?

A: The USB ports support USB 2.0. If the device is USB 3.0 it would need to be backwards compatible.

Q: 8. can I export the UI 16 to india

A: Most European countries will allow electronic devices to be shipped. To be sure you will need to contact your carrier to find out if they will be able to send that unit.

Q: 9. Does the Ui12 have the ability to record onto USB? I see that the Ui16 does, but it appears that the 12 does not. I am also seeing a firmware upgrade that might add that functionality?

A: This digital mixer currently does allow for 2-channel USB audio playback and recording.

Q: 10. Does the Soundcraft UI series mixers support Dante interface?

A: No, the Soundcraft Ui Series mixers do not support Dante. However, an option card can be added to mixers in the Si Series to enable Dante compatibility.

[± 7 ns] I was unsure that changin from analog physical mixer, but our sound man convinced me, so we did buy it. From the very first day we use it . I was amazed of all the capabilities, with a graphic interface so easy to use, but at the same time able to perform a lot of stuff. I definitely recomend it. 5

[40] Haven't got time to use it too much. Until now I found it as a great mixer. It's great to have 4 auxes + 4 effect (reverb, chorus, delay, room) on each channel, 4 busses. Another great thing is the built in playback & recording on usb memory but I would have liked to be able to select what to record: auxes, busses or master output. Another thing that would have been nice to implement in this mixer is the auto eq on master output based on an RTA mic. 5

[< 0.01% ] I've done 3 events with this mixer so far. The U.I set up is super simple. The included WiFi is amazing and I had no connection problems. I would suggest using a laptop computer unless you have a larger size tablet. I went with this mixer over the XAir because you truly have 16 XLR inputs and 4 sends not including the 2 main. The bag is a sweet cherry on top. 5

[53 lb] Only thing I can say about this unit is It met all my expectations +. Used in Church environment - Once you get by the initial learning curve, the unit is quite easy to use! Been using for Webinars and General Service control for about 6 months and the more we use it the more we like it! Good Unit+! 5

[± 7 ns] I was looking for an inexpensive mixer that could be controlled remotely and the Ui16 fills the need perfectly. I was surprised at how feature rich the Ui software is. EQ, FX, Subs--it has quite a few of the big boy toys in a compact, rack mounted design. And the onboard hotspot provides a great back door should the network develop issues. Bonus: Soundcraft's demo URL allows a new user to practice with the software from anywhere with a connection. Very cool! 5

[40] We replaced our church's old Mackie analog board with the Soundcraft Ui16 and have heard a noticeable improvement in the overall sound quality - especially with our singers. Several congregants remarked how crisp the sound was. Using the virtual sound board on an iPad was also fabulously easy and has helped in clearing up a lot of clutter on our AV counter. So far we are very satisfied with the Soundcraft Ui16. Plus you can't beat the price! 5
