Specifically engineered and built to withstand the rigors of life on the water, Nikon 7x50 OceanPro Binoculars for Marine Useproduce bright and clear images while reducing the disorientation commonly experienced when using binoculars in marine environments due to the rolling action affecting the horizon line when seen through magnified optics.

Their large objectives give the binoculars high light transmittance for enhanced low-light performance such as on cloudy or foggy days, and the large exit pupils help to further reduce the effects of rough and rolling seas while ensuring the entire scene remains visible in low light. The Porro prism optical design, combined with multi-coated optics, produces high-contrast images with true color representation and a rich depth of field that allows you to more easily discern the relative distances between objects in the field of view.

To hold up to the salt water and spray, the housing is made of corrosion- and impact-resistant polycarbonate, with rubber armoring on the exterior to provide protection against drops and impacts as well as a slip-resistant grip in cold or wet conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled for fogproof performance, especially when moving between extreme temperature variations. They are waterproof to 3.3 feet for up to 5 minutes, and if they should go overboard, a high-visibility floating neck strap is included, so you'll be able to fish them out of the water in time.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the eye relief for these bino's?

A: Unfortunately the eye relief for the Konus 7x50 Sporty Binocular has not yet been published.

Q: 2. Do you know where these binoculars are made?

A: They are made in China.

Q: 3. Is the compass visible in the dark/ at night?

A: Yes, that's what illuminated means.

Q: 4. Is a Nikon carrying case included ?

A: Yes it comes with a case. When shopping our site you can always see what is included with an item by viewing the overview tab and finding the “In the Box” listing located on the right hand side of our web page. The case is listed there.

Q: 5. Will these work in the Southern Hemisphere ?

A: No and I forgot about that the _vertical_ component of the Earth's magnetic field tilts the disc/needle opposite ways in the North and South, so a weight is needed. With a normal compass you can sometimes tilt it to compensate, but with this you can't do that.I lost a huge chunk of cost savings getting it adjusted for Ausie...it cost me IIRC about $120+ at The Aust branch, with post.Nick

Q: 6. Where is this binoculars made in?

A: They are made in China.

Q: 7. Are these stabilizing binoculars ?

A: No.

Q: 8. Why do specs of the Nikon 7x50 OceanPro Binoculars show the need for batteries?

A: I have notified the B&H web content team. No batteries required for this model only the model with a digital compass.

Q: 9. Is the internal rangefinder visible at all times? Can this binocular be use for astronomy too?

A: The Barska 7x50 WP Battalion Binocular does not have an illuminated rangefinder so it would be difficult to view in low light. They can be used for astronomy too but I would recommend using binoculars that do not have a rangefinder, but ones with more magnification and/or a larger objective lens diameter.

Q: 10. It has individual eye focusing, but is it what is commonly referred to as insta-focus, ie always in focus at nearly any distance once each eye is focused?

A: I believe so. Gift for my husband who is very particular. He loves them!!GREAT purchase.Ruth

[3.615 lb] As an amateur Photographer I have a philosophy of "Always buy good glass". These Bino's live up to that creed. Compact, great field of view and very clear. I've made the mistake of buying cheaper glass with "similar" specs on paper, these are the best binoculars I've ever owned. Looking forward to years of use on and off the water.

[7x] First purchase of good binoculars. Sorry I waited so long to buy quality. These are probably 2 times clearer than old bino's. Low light conditions are no issue now

[50 mm] I purchased a pair of Steiner 8X30 military/marine binoculars in 1997 and they have performed amazingly well over the years. My younger son 'borrowed' them and they were left out outside under the snow during a Minnesota winter and were no worse for the experience. After 24 years I decided to 'upgrade' to the 7x50 military/marine binoculars. They are a bit heavier but the brightness of the image and the sharpness are AMAZING! Even after only two weeks of use, I'm glad I finally made the decision to purchase the new binoculars. For sports use, the INSTAFOCUS is really great!!!

[3.615 lb] I bought these for stargazing and general use. The field of view isn't as flat as I thought they would be, but it isn't too bad. The construction is top notch. They are very solid. The lens caps fit tightly and are secure. The fixed focus is quite sharp once adjusted to one's vision. I was unsure of how sharp they would be using this system upon purchasing. Using the hyperfocal distance for focusing works quite well in film and in binoculars it seems. The binoculars did have a couple of smudges on one of the objectives which worried me, but it cleaned off easily using some Purosol (which I got here and highly recommend). There is a reason the US military (and other militaries) use these binoculars. They are sturdy, easy and comfortable to hold, and produce bright, sharp views. I really like them. I wish I had the dough to get Steiner's 15x80 set!

[Porro] Very nice, extremely bright, good colour and tack sharp. A mite on the heavy side but that helps while holding and keeps things steady. I am of an age that using 10x50s are a tad shaky. The 7x50 sre, as Goldilocks said, just right...

[7.1 mm] These are being used on a boat for spotting whales and other sea life. They work very well...as expected.

[3.615 lb] I purchased these not for sailing but rather for astronomy.  These update the Porro prism 7x50s so popular in the last century with astronomers, carrying forward all of their virtues - generous eye relief, 7-degree or larger FOV, flat, well-corrected field edge to edge, bright 7mm exit pupil (matching the fully dilated pupil diameter of a healthy child or young adult observer) and engaging three-dimensional views that only Porros seem to deliver.  To these virtues the Ocean Pros add a few others generally not present in the 7x50s of yesteryear, including decent waterproofing, very light weight for the large prism size and large-ish dimensions (due to the polycarbonate frame), and better multi-coatings.  Are these the best available 7x50 astronomy binoculars?  No.  But they are one of the best values, all things considered.

[7x] Bought these at a great price from B&H and based on previous reviews. The quality does not disappoint, especially at this price point. Image brightness and clarity are excellent. Easy to use, just set the eyepieces for your vision and good to go. Was vacillating between 7X and 10X; very happy with the 7X.
