A: The ARRI Bottom Dovetail Plate (12" / 300mm) (B&H# ARK2001589) has seven female threads (each being a steel insert) that run all the way through the plate from the top to the underside. There are also other holes that are present to help to reduce weight.

[0.12 lb] Purchased this to replace the accessory grip that is supplied with the camera as I tried adding an Arca Swiss Gitzo tripod head quick release plate to the bottom thread mount and ended up with a really clumsy set up that was hard to tighten. This grip adds the extra bit of extension for better hand feel and has the built in arca swiss edges for perfect easy tripod mounting. Super solid and well designed with no issues. Very well priced and works perfectly. 5

[4.3 x 1 x 0.4"] I had been using the smallrig plate which is nice as well, but whenever I wanted to use my falcam quick release plates, I had to screw then on and the camera never sat flat on my shelf. I also have the smallrig and falcam cages but they add unnecessary bulk. This plate solves the problem. The last time I put the qr plate on my smallrig, it came loose and the camera almost fell. With the qr being part of the plate, I never have to worry about that again. Definitely worth the few dollars to have it. 5

[4.3 x 1 x 0.4"] I love these quick release plates! They allow me to switch between my different tripods, overhead mounts, and various set ups without having to change the base plate. They have saved me so much time. They are also strong and durable, so I don't worry about them holding my camera even when it is high above my head. 5
