Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a MDR-7506 model that comes with an uncoiled cable? I hate all that extra weight on my head.

A: The Sony MDR-7506 Headphones are only available with the attached coiled cable. As an alternative, the Senal SMH-1000-MK2 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones (B&H # SESMH1000MKT) are close in design and have a removeable cable. The SMH-1000-MK2 include both straight and coiled cables, so you have the option of using either style. The Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Closed-Back Monitor Headphones (B&H # AUATHM40X) and Audio-Technica ATH-M30x Closed-Back Monitor Headphones (B&H # AUATHM30X) also have a removeable cable and are both packaged with straight and coiled cables as well.

Q: 2. Are the earpads replaceable?

A: Yes, the earpads on Sony MDR-7506 Headphones are replaceable.

Q: 3. Relative to comparables, do these warm up your ears at room temperature or do they breathe?

A: The Sony MDR-7506 Headphones are closed-back headphones, so they will retain some heat naturally. However, with the default earcups they are not as large or tight of a fit as some other popular closed-back models.

Q: 4. Is this a good headphone to use to manage sound from field recording?

A: It is an industry standard for that application.(answering in case someone else other than the asker benefits)

Q: 5. Where are these headphones made. China or Taiwan?

A: The pair I bought were made in Thailand. They are very good headphones, though. I use them for monitoring in my small studio when doing vocals. I have done rough mixdown late at night as well, and find the results pretty good the next morning.

Q: 6. Do these headphones come with a mic?

A: Unfortunately these headphones do not come with an Inline Microphone.

Q: 7. Do the earpieces rotate 90 degrees so they can be stored flat?

A: No, unfortunately they do not rotate for flat storage.

Q: 8. Can the ktxpro1 be used with a laptop?

A: The Koss KTXPRO1 On-Ear Headphones can be used with a laptop if the laptop has a 1/8" / 3.5 mm jack.

Q: 9. Is the plug bent

A: Yes. Great sound at any price.

Q: 10. Can these Headphones be used with a Portable CD Player that is powered by (2) AA Rechargeable Batteries ?

A: Hi Mary Morrison, Yes, it will support a portable CD player. ~Ralph

[44.6 lb] Great sound quality, simple corded connection, good value compared to other headphones I've owned over the years. Would buy again.

[44.6 lb] I have been really happy with my first set of these headphones from like 5 years ago that I just bought a 2nd.

[44.6 lb] This is my second pair of these headphones, which are classic and mostly the workhorse people make them out to be. The last pair kicked the bucket after daily use 6-7 years. I opted for an open box deal at B&H which pulled the price down a bit, and I was nervous that they'd be less-than-new in some way, but BH did a beautiful job inspecting the product and repackaging, and honestly you wouldn't know they aren't brand new.

[Aluminum] These are my first pair since way back in the 70's so I have nothing to compare them to. They are very comfortable and lite. I like to listen to music while I'm doing other tasks. I am very happy with them, but I have no other pair to compare to. For the price you can't go wrong with these. Nice Headphones.

[44.6 lb] Prior to this I had been using a hand-me-down pair of higher-end Sony headphones, but sadly one speaker finally gave out. Since pleased with a prior B&H purchase, I headed over to see what they had. Despite these being lower price-point than what I had been using, this hasn't felt like a downgrade at all! (And I bought mine on an open-box deal so they were especially budget-friendly.)

I'm no pro, but I do love listening to music & learning about music, so sound-quality is important to me. I think these are great, though perhaps someone with music-production experience could offer better comment.

Two notes, not really negative but just commenting: buy the deeper ear-pads (or add your own). I wear these for listening to music or podcasts, so I'm not wearing them 24/7 for work, but even so, if I have them on for a few hours while at my desk doing projects, I will say my ears hurt a bit. Not sure if this is affected by pressure-points since I wear glasses? However, my old headphones had good padding and I didn't notice the problem. When buying these new ones, I decided against spending more for the deeper cushions at the time, and I'm kind of regretting it.

Second comment, the adjusters to change where the pads sit over your ear, do slip a little. Every few on-offs I have to put them back to where they should be to sit correctly on my ear. This doesn't really bother me, but just commenting for those who might be particularly annoyed by this.

Overall: great product, good sound, well-made, easy to fold up into a compact shape (plus it comes with a felty storage pouch). I also love the coiled cord, which stretches if need-be but otherwise stays compact, not this endless cord going everywhere on your desk or workspace.

A little pricey if you don't need them, but if you're an earphone wearer (vs. earbud) I think you will be glad to invest in something that will hold up.

[44.6 lb] I have been using these headphones for 30 years, and even though there are technically much higher end ones, I always return to these. The MDR-7506 are perfect for multiple applications, and don't really color the sound, so you can count on the accuracy of what you are hearing.

I primarily use them for ENG applications, but have also used them on A1 gigs on live events, and I have never been disappointed. The build quality is also great, and they are collapsible for storage.

[44.6 lb] The Sony MDR-7506 is highly favored in film and audio production for its reliability. I find its frequency response perfect for tracking and referencing during interviews. Its flat, neutral response ensures accurate listening without exaggerated highs or lows.

[Aluminum] Comfy. Sounds great. I don't notice any difference between these and the MDR-V6 that I used to have. (I use them to listen to my MacBook Pro and iPad right out of their headphone ports - nothing fancy.)

[Aluminum] The Sony MDR-7506 has long been a standard in the audio/broadcast industry - for a reason. It has excellent voice articulation, reveals any defect in an audio source and is light and comfortable to wear for long periods. It's reasonable price and inclusion of a screw-on 1/8 to 1/4 inch stereo adapter plug means its accessible to most and ready to go right out of the box.

A long but coiled cord maximizes flexibility. And if something breaks - parts are available - or just get another one. It's NOT at the pricey end of the spectrum for professional cans. Nothing fancy, here and no bragging rights - It just works - VERY well.
