H.264 Network Digital Video Recorder

H.264 Network Digital Video Recorder
  • Product Code: eq26872
  • Availability: In Stock

$2,997.00 $4,585.41

The h.264 network digital video recorderallows you to encode video and audio over a standard IP network at a user-defined bit-rate. It records high-quality video and audio and uses the H.264 video compression standard. The encoder can record to Maevex decoders or any device or PC that supports the required network protocols. It can also record to a shared network or NAS drive.

Matrox's PowerStream software is included and is used to remotely discover, manage, and adjust the Maevex network. The software also allows the administrators to define multiple stream parameters and balance network bandwidth consumption and quality. The Maevex API is also available to enable programmers to integrate current features into existing applications or create new, independent PowerStream-like software to meet specific needs.

[RJ45] Bought this and its matching rx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included.
60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P.
50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i.
The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps.
However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices.

[RJ45] Researched NAS drives prior to purchasing this one. I can say I have no regrets at all. I am pleasantly pleased and actually beyond pleased with my purchase. This is my first NAS drive and if this one holds up QNAP will be my future NAS purchases. I highly recommend it. Let me add it was extremely easy to set up.

[RJ45] A solid choice for personal cloud storage, and with a lot of extra apps and features that can integrate with smartphones as well as computers. The SSD option does seem to speed up the access for frequently used files, and the newer CPU is better suited to this device's role than in previous models.

[2.89 lb] The Osprey is quite versatile and reliable. We have purchased dozens of the G1 & G2 encoders for use throughout numerous facilities in our extensive network. Our primary use is for multicasting, but we also do a number of unicasts and YouTube streams.
Osprey tech support is so helpful and knowledgeable, which is another huge selling point.
We have used numerous other manufacturers products (HaiVision, Evertz, Ensemble Design, and Lynx). All of them work fine but Osprey offered the best quality and reliability for the price.

[2.89 lb] We use this in our storm chaser to capture our feed before it goes out through our LiveU backpack. When recording, saves the footage to a 256GB USB (SanDisk Ultra 3.0). It saved us numerous times when the backpack would go in and out of service. This recorder never missed a frame when recording to the USB. It works so well we bought a second one. It does it a little warm during extended use but that doesn't affect the performance.
