[58.42 lb] I use an SR18 as the basis for my drum kit when I record. As most folks know, it is capable of being a really great program-the-drums-in-advance drummer, but I've found that when I record, I work better in real time. What I mean is that I *could* create drum patterns and write them into the SR18 memory, using them as building blocks to create an internal song that would record and play back with computer-accurate perfection for live performances, but for recording, it doesn't feel as dynamic as simply playing the pads as I'm recording. As with most human beings, I don't do a perfect job, and those imperfections add a subtlety to the song that keeps it interesting. The SR18 -- along with separate tracks for the bass/snare, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, toms, and high hat -- lets me do that perfectly. At mixdown, I can adjust each component in the kit to complement the other sounds in the mix, and arrive at a magnificently realistic drum part. Love this thing!

I use it along with a synth and sound is perfect. the amount of possibilities you have is almost endless impossible to find everything inside this little box fantastic. [31 x 17.5 x 15"] I'm a musician with 2 bands as well as a composer and performer of my original music. I you use the Alesis SR 18 to create original drum tracks for my compositions. It has been great-sounding & easy to use right out of the box. The MIDI out is a great help when using other rhythmic software, as is the AUX in for other instruments. The price was unbeatable, and with the adjustable swing & quantize functions, it's as close to a real drummer as a machine can get. I haven't found anything to complain about except the bass patterns, but I don't use them - I create my own. As a drum machine, this is an excellent choice

[31 x 17.5 x 15"] I have been using the Alesis drum products for about 15 years now and am quite impressed with the SR-18. The sounds and flexibility of the unit are phenomenal and the ease of operation should be emulated by other manufacturer's units. I use it for both live and studio applications and it has performed flawlessly in both environments. For the money, this is the best unit on the market in my opinion.

[58.42 lb] I use this for live playing as a keyboardist/vocalist. I like to have drum grooves in a wide variety of styles and the feature which links 2 versions of each pattern with transitional fills makes this very satisfying to work with.

[58.42 lb] I purchased the SR-18 to use as a metronome in live and studio settings. The SR-18 is only slightly more expensive than a high end metronome but does dramatically more. I can setup a standard click or create fun loops for the band to play with. It is easy to control the SR-18 with a footswitch to make smooth and fast transitions. I also just have fun being creative and making loops for my personal amusement.

[31 x 17.5 x 15"] I use this in my home studio for recording. Has a lot of bells and whistles if you need them. Mostly, I just use it to manually tap out the drums and percussion while recording but it is certainly capable of much, much more. I love the variety of sampled drum kits and the recorded sound is indeed authentic. I doubt most people would guess it's not performed by a real drummer.

[58.42 lb] As a long-time owner of the SR-16, I was looking forward to the updated SR-18. I was not disappointed. It sounds way better and the back-lit display is awesome and worth the price alone. My experience with B&H was great and I would recommend them.
