The pci express video capture cardfrom pci express video capture cardis a stand-alone PCI Express x4 plug-in video capture card, with two complete capture channels supporting up to 1920x1200 DVI or 2048x1536 Analog resolution, and a 650MB/s transfer bus bandwidth. The card captures the Analog/ DVI data and triple buffers it into on-board storage. This data is then copied using DMA to the host system for display, storage or streaming. When a Datapath graphics card is used, the VisionRGB-E2S transfers the data directly to the graphics card, thereby increasing performance. The VisionRGB-E2S sends the relevant portions of each captured image to each display channel and instructs each channel to use its graphics engine to render the data. This fully utilizes the hardware and increases performance.

When the RGB/DVI data is displayed on a non Datapath graphics card, the VisionRGB-E2S sends the data to system memory or direct to the graphics card, dependent on the software used for display.

The VisionRGB-E2S video capture card is supplied with a software application for configuring the timing and format of the input sources and displaying the data. Simply connect your external DVI or Analog source into the card, run the VisionRGB-E2S application to automatically detect the video source format and display the captured video in a window on your desktop.

The VisionRGB-E2S is a suitable solution for applications that require the capture of analog or DVI sources in real time, such as viewing Analog or DVI sources from PCs, MACs, industrial/medical equipment, cameras and other video equipment, streaming video applications, and video wall controllers. For streaming applications, the VisionRGB-E2S can be used with Windows Media Encoder to compress and stream captures video. To replay the video, use Windows Media Player. Any application compatible with Windows Direct-Show technology can use the VisionRGB-E2S video capture card due to its built in WDM support.

    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this card enable AVB support on my MacPro 4.1 (flashed to 5.1)?

    A: Yes, this support AVB.

Q: 2. What type of cable or connector is required for the optional power input?

A: The StarTech 7-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express 2.0 x1 Card uses a SATA connector to provide up to 900mA of power to each USB port.

Q: 3. Is the PCIe HDMI card an HDMI-in ?

A: Sorry, but the answer is no. The PCI card is used only for connection to the interface. It does not pass a raw HDMI signal.

Q: 4. Does this unit maintain the 4x3 shvs, composite and component 4x3 aspect ration when converted to HDMI?

A: The aspect ratio will remain 4:3: Default Mode: As explained in chapter 5, “HD Express Basics” (page 23), HD Express has two modes of operation: Capture and Playback. Your host video software determines the mode, depending on what you are doing (i.e. capturing or playing back the timeline). The Default Mode setting (Figure 6-1) lets you choose which mode the HD Express enters when the host relinquishes control over the HD Express hardware, such as when you quit or switch out of your host software. If you spend most of your time just monitoring or just capturing, operation will be faster if you set this to the mode you expect to use most. https://bit.ly/3w24jhS

Q: 5. I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) with thunderbolt and usb3. Is this product fully functional with a thunderbolt to express card adapter?

A: JMR makes a PCIe to Thunderbolt adapter that will allow you to connect this device to your computer. However its full functionality will depend on the specs of your computer more so than the connection. MacBook Pros tend to be powerful machines, even when they are a few years old, so I do not think there will be any issues.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Avid Media Composer?

A: Software Supported: Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 or higher on Mac OS X The HD Express driver installer with Avid support is now available for download. This updated software installer provides compatibility with (and is required for) the Media Composer 6.5 family of products. if you prefer to edit more conveniently at a lower data rate, you can choose Apple ProRes, ProRes HQ, Avid DNxHD, or the codec of your choice in Avid Media Composer 6.5 or Apple Final Cut Pro for maximum CPU efficiency and smooth editing. In Premiere Pro on Windows, you can choose among several popular codecs, including DVCProHD. By choosing a codec directly supported by your host, you eliminate unnecessary extra stages of compression and decompression, which produces maximum CPU efficiency and smooth editing.

Q: 7. Does this convert the svhs, composite and component inputs to the hdmi output so I can use it to feed a mp4 recorder with a hdmi input?

A: Yes, the converted signal may be sent to a recorder via HDMI.

Q: 8. I have an older Macbook Pro (around 2008). Will this work?I want to capture video from the component output of my old Sony HVR Z1U camcorder to 1080p in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro.Will this do it?Many thanks.

A: Sorry update: Not my Macbook Pro. My Mac Pro (tower).Couldn't find a way to edit the original question.

Q: 9. Will this stream Ustream or Livestream and work with Sony Vegas?

A: No, as of right now this will only support Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 or higher on Mac OS Xand Adobe Premiere Pro 4.0.1 or higher on Windows 7 / Vista / XP.

Q: 10. I have an Asus Gaming laptop w/HDMI port. Using Adobe Premiere Elements to capture live DV. Will this device allow me to capture video?

A: This unit currently supports MAC operating software only. However Windows support will be coming soon, but that will work with Premiere Pro, not Elements. Also you will need a PCI Express Port on your laptop to connect it, the HDMI Port on your laptop is for outputting a monitor signal. You will not be able to capture video through that HDMI Port. You may want to look in to something like the Startech USB 3.0 Video Capture Device. This would allow you to capture a wide variety of inputs, it has included recording/streaming software and is compatible with Windows computers.

[1.1 lb] I've got a Mac Pro (Late 2013) and using an external Thunderbolt 2 to PCI add on. I wanted to connect my Mac to 10GBe, but needed a supported card (from Mac OS X - Montery). This card works out of the box in that situation (the other version with just a SFP+ socket should work as well, I just went with this on since is was $50 cheaper at the time). You need the low profile bracket but it should come with one (mine was missing, but the manufacturer sent a replacement). It's working great!!

[1.1 lb] I gotta say I was worried that is was not working as soon as I plugged it, it turned out to be that my TV was 1080i and I had a 1080p setting on it, after making that change it worked just as I expected. Great box.

[1.1 lb] Host controllers (in contrast to hubs) do better in certain ways, For example, when using software to burn to multiple CD drives.
The card has a port to plug in SATA power; they explain this is to give it added power (I believe for charging - not sure if for general operation), but it works fine even without it - at least for standard operation to devices that have wall power.

[1.1 lb] Needed to upgrade my former Matrox dual monitor card to support a new 1920 x 1080 display. The product didn't disappoint, and neither did the support. Physical and driver installation was a snap and configuration was easy using either the Matrox Utility or Windows display properties. I had a problem with one monitor not fully darkening when the power saver kicked in, but Matrol sent the latest driver almost immediately - and that solved the issue. When we buy stuff like this - support must be cranked into the value. Matrox supports its products.

[1.1 lb] I needed a HDMI 1080p and 7.1 surround monitoring solution for my MacPro running FCPro and Logic 9. I already have a Black Magic Intensity Pro which has worked well but could only route 2 channels of audio over HDMI. The HD Express install was seamless and has no problem sharing the PCIe buss with the Intensity Pro card and a Sonnet eSATA card. I like the fact the HD Express can also route 8 channels to the 8 RCA output providing many more monitoring configuration possibilities. Only downside, HD Express is not totally compatible with Pro Tools 10. PT can access the HD Express for audio output but not video. However, I am able to run 7.1 audio thru the HD Express and 1080p video thru the Intensity Pro so far without any problems. The MOTU HD Express just might be one of the best and least expensive solutions for getting HDMI video and 8 channels of embedded audio out of the MacPro in support of monitoring video and 7.1 surround in FCPro and Logic 9. I highly recommend the HD Express,

[1.1 lb] This card is the best pick when installing Windows 98 on modern hardware. Also works great in Windows 11, my expensive Razer mouse is hooked-up to this card so I can use it in Windows 98 and Windows 11 in a dual boot configuration.
