Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does anyone know if the strap opens up so you can swap out the camera connector with a different system? I want to use the Promediagear SS2p1 Plug connector instead of BlackRapids carbineer type system.

A: The Black Rapid FR-5 Fasten R Breathe attachment can be separated from the carbineer on the end of this strap so you can utilize the SS2p1 Plug Connector.

Q: 2. Is there a weight limit?

A: I have used it with a Nikon D7200 + grip + batteries and the older (much heavier) 300mm f4 lens, Kirk foot, TC1.4, and SB-900 flash. All of that comes in at over 9 lbs. I brought it on many pelagic birding trips which means an unstable platform on a pitching sea. Never had the slightest issue.

Q: 3. Does the BlackRapid Sport Breathe (MFR # 361005) include the male threaded fitting to screw into the camera's tripod attach point?

A: Yes it does come with , BlackRapid FR-5 FastenR Breathe B&H # BL363001

Q: 4. Can the two safety stop screws at the bottom of the Sigma TS-81 Lens Foot be removed?

A: The safety stopper screws on the Sigma TS-81 Lens Foot for 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport Lens are not removable.

Q: 5. Is this lens foot compatible with the Contemporary version of Sigma's 150-600 lens?

A: No, the foot of the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF (B&H# SI1506005CC) is permanently attached to the tripod collar. You could add a lens plate on to the foot of the lens, however. One good choice is the Oben QR-53 Long Lens Quick Release Plate (5.3") (B&H# OBQR53): https://bhpho.to/2VxPffd The length of that plate will allow you to slide the lens back and forth in the Arca-compatible clamp that you are using so as to balance it nicely.

Q: 6. I take my camera on long hikes, usually over 2 miles, photographing birds. Sometimes the terrain is rough and I fear that the BR strap will allow the camera to bounce away from my body and back striking my hip.Should I worry about a sore hip?

A: When I use this particular strap I tend to have my hand on the camera so it does not swing and I have never had a problem with impact on my hip. I am traveling to Africa in late October and I will be hiking in some tough terrain and I need my hands free during the hike. Based on this I am using the double spider holster set up. I did a similar hike last weekend and used the spider holster to hold two cameras with large lenses and it worked great and id not swing or move much during the hike. At the same time I was ready to take pictures at any time.

Q: 7. Does this fit the Sigma 500mm F5.6 DG DN?

A: The Sigma 500mm F5.6 DG DN already has an Arca compatible foot so you do not need to buy a replacement foot.

Q: 8. My camcorder rig weighs 8 pounds. Can this shoulder strap support this? I plan to hang the camcorder same as a DSLR - via 1/4-20 tripod mount.

A: The BlackRapid Sport Breathe Camera Strap could support an 8lb camcorder.

Q: 9. I am a right handed person. I normally prefer to carry my camera under my left arm. Will the left hand version of this strap still work for me?

A: Hi Bjug, The sport left does hang on your left hip, for immediate and easy access with your left hand to bring the camera up to your eye. If you prefer grabbing the camera with your left hand but have it sit on your right hip then you'd possibly be better off trying the Cross Shot which can be worn on either side or the Sport Regular which sits on your right hip.

Q: 10. Can this slide into the yelangu YLGA17 Gimbal Head without the use of the Arca swiss ball head?

A: Yes, the Sigma TS-81 Lens Foot for 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport Lens will work on the YELANGU A17 Aluminum Alloy DSLR Camera Gimbal Tripod Head directly.

[0.84 lb] I rate this as 5 stars because it is a terrific lens foot. However it should have been the standard foot supplied with the lens. Is it worth the money? Yes and no. Yes it is worth them money and makes the lens portable and easier to carry. No - it should not cost an extra $250 to get a quality lens foot - should be included as the standard foot even if it raised the price of the lens $100.

[0.84 lb] Although I can use the original foot on one of my older tripods, using an ancient Linhof pan/tilt head, these days Im in love with ARCA plates & clamps. It still surprises me that major lens manufacturers dont offer purchasers the option of an ARCA foot - maybe they arent chasing sales after all?
The Wimberley foot is easy to fit - the instructions are simple, clear and straightforward - it only took a few minutes and it was done. As solid as!
A  minor issue - once the foot was in place, it was slightly harder to park the car in the garage - I mean put the lens back in its case.  But not difficult, once you realise why.
There is also a Jobu one, which mimics the shape of both - longer, like the Wimberley one (which is an advantage, in balancing this lens, with camera) - but lower, like the one SIGMA fitted.
But its 20 bucks more and the extra height in the Wimberley one makes it easier to use this lens hand held, if you ever want to - birders, perhaps?
B&H advised me this one was the obvious choice.

[0.84 lb] This is perfect but it needs stops on the ends.

[0.84 lb] I like the extra length of the foot as it provides for a balance point as the lens length varies with zoom. I also can have a Black Rapid shoulder harness attached and not have to remove to put the lens on a tripod. The extra length is great. I can put the foot into my waist holster loop that holds the camera and lens next to my hip for walking around. There are less expensive replacements but this foot is robust and curved to make it easy on the hand to carry the lens/camera.

[0.84 lb] I replaced the factory foot with this on my Sigma 150-600mm lens. It makes a good sturdy carrying handle for the lens. I was pleased I could mount it directly to my tripod with out having to add the additional mount.

[0.84 lb] The foot that comes with the Sigma 150-600mm Sports lens made the lens-camera combo too front-heavy for it to balance on the gimbal head (Oben GH-30) when in the extended 600mm position.

When using this foot instead, it balances perfectly. (Annoying that I had to pay $100, but this is a well-made product at least.)

[0.84 lb] This weird little item was really hard to find, given that they've been out of production for a few years. I'd love to know how many of them were ever made (if it's over a thousand, I'd be shocked). Anyhoo...

B&H had it, in 2023, so I ordered it and had it fastened on my Sigma dp3 by week's end. And now I have basically a macro Foveon, and I'm seriously thrilled.

Thanks, B&H!

[0.84 lb] Like the other reviewers I prefer the 90mm equiv focal length, and this add on delivers. Because it is glass and metal it is hefty, but balances well on the DP3Q. A couple things: although the instructions say don't mount it on a filter that's attached to the camera lens, I did so without any problems focus issues or loss of IQ. Also, the filter spec that B&H lists is incorrect: there is no drop-in slot at the rear for filters. It takes a 67mm filter or hood or cap at the front end.

[0.84 lb] I purchased Wimberley replacement foot for my Sigma 150-600mm Sport Lens. The extended length of the foot helps balance the lens when fully extended in 600mm in my Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Head VII.
It fit perfectly and was easy to install.
