$539.97 $858.55

Designed and built for beginner astronomers, the celestron eclipsmart solar eclipse viewing glassesoffers a complete set-up for viewing the Moon, planets, meteor showers, and bright deep-sky objects. The optics are fully multicoated with anti-reflection coatings to reduce light loss and produce brighter and clearer images with more accurate colors versus non-coated systems.

The scope features a manual alt-azimuth mount with an altitude adjustment rod that allows users to track objects as they move across the night sky. Two eyepieces are included with a 3x Barlow lens that effectively triples the magnification of each eyepiece. The 20mm erect-image eyepiece produces 50x magnification and corrects images horizontally and vertically to enable the scope to be used for terrestrial viewing as well. For astronomical viewing, the 4mm eyepiece has no visual correction and produces a powerful 250x magnification. Its adjustable-height aluminum tripod provides a stable observation platform, and its maximum height of 52" allows for comfortable viewing by most users.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. cant it be used in Schmidt cassegrain telescopes? I am using c5 spottingscope . please clarify.

A: This Solar Filter is designed to work exclusively with the Celestron 127mm and 130mm reflector telescopes.

Q: 2. Celestron says “ Never use this filter if your camera has an optical viewfinder.” Does that mean to not use it on a Nikon D500?

A: Because the Nikon D500 viewfinder is looking through the lens that is filtered, it is safe to use the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm with your camera.

Q: 3. Will this solar filter fit the Nexstar SLT 127? It is advertised as an accessory but in the description is states otherwise.

A: Yes

Q: 4. Any chance to fit Sky-Watcher 70mm ?

A: We created the Eclipsmart Solar Filters to be perfectly fit on Celestron telescopes. I can not say with any certainty that they will fit another telescope outside Celestron's

Q: 5. Will they work over prescription glasses?

A: The cardboard glasses will not work well with eyewear. Instead, these would fit over most eyeglasses: https://bhpho.to/3uUbpdd

Q: 6. Is the diameter of the actual filter part?

A: The diameter of the actual solar filter on the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter is 63.5mm.

Q: 7. Are these approved by NASA?

A: The American Paper Optics Solar Eclipse Safety Glasses are ISO 12312-2 and CE certified which is what NASA recommends for safe solar viewing.

Q: 8. Can you put these on over glasses you are already wearing to correct your vision?

A: Depending on the width of your glasses, you may have to hold them in place when viewing.

Q: 9. will this be useable on the celestron skymaster 15-70mm binoculars?

A: I do not recommend using the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm on the Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binoculars. Please follow the link below leading to a better alternative. https://bit.ly/3HLFgY6 I recommend using extreme caution while using any folded design filters on a windy day.

Q: 10. How should we test before eclipse? Put on in room should be 100% dark? Put on and look at full sun should just see circle sun?

A: You should hold the American Paper Optics Solar Eclipse Safety Glasses up to a light to check for any damage, scratches, rips, etc. As long as they seem fine you can just put them on and view the sun.

[17.2 lb] Just like it states in the headline. Additionally, I got my hands on a video filter for the eclipse but I did not have a solar filter for the camera. A pair of scissors and a little tape and viola - the camera can not safely record the eclipse without burning out the sensor.

[f/8.8] B&H photo clearly showed off the iso and ce certification stamps in their product image, and the glasses turned out to be legitimate, anyways. Also, even though they were on back order, they still managed to quickly and efficiently get me the glasses about half a week before I was expecting them. Lastly, they were one of the few stores still selling a pair for less than $5 and not closer to $20. For those reasons, I give them 5 stars.

[None] I do not normally write many product reviews, but I needed to on this, as it met all our expectations and more so. We were also so impressed by the communication on delivery, meeting our delivery time and then the added things that B&H sent to help with the eclipse event where we used these. We had people share the product and it held up well to being passed around.
