[9.9 oz (280 g)] Korg was really thinking like a synth musician when they created this kit. It works great to visualize the waveforms and harmonic content. I like the fact that the audio pass-through outputs are completely passive which means they work whether the NTS-2 is powered on or not. This way you can just keep it in your signal chain and not worry about running down its batteries (it also runs on USB).


Build-wise it is similar to the other Nu:Tekt kits. You need to break apart the circuit boards, but I found that pretty easy to do and they broke cleanly along the score lines. The input and output jacks are through-hole solder type so should be more robust than the SMT style used on the original NTS-1.


All-in-all I'm very happy with this purchase.

[7 x 6.4 x 2"] I had always been skeptical about magnetic filter adapters, some of the early ones popped off too easily. This Kase set, however, has a nice grip on filters and it takes some violent shaking to make it pop off.



Whereas I am still unlikely to equip all of my lenses with this for my frequently done daytime long exposures, I find this solution excellent for solar eclipses, where the filter needs to come off in a second and be popped back on in a second. Timing is everything on eclipses, and this takes the anxiety out of that filter change moment.


In fact, it emboldened me to try shooting with a polarizer during the eclipse, to catch polarized corona light, and I bought a second filter ring for that.

[0.8 lb] Well. . .let me say that the setup was little quirky but manageable. . . took about an hour to figure it all out but once you got it right, it prints like a race horse. . .I would buy it again and just might for a second machine. . .great large platform and build space area. . .little noisy but not too bad. . .

[7 x 6.4 x 2"] I haven't used it very much yet. Mainly due to needing some adapters that I don't have. That said, it's a Korg, the build was straightforward and fun to do, the fit and finish of the product are of the usual Korg quality. The oscilloscope offers a variety of functions that are usually only available on much larger and far more expensive models. The book is full of artist interviews, history of synthesizers, beautiful photographs and a wide range of tips and tricks for this and other products as well as all sorts of patches. If you're new to oscilloscopes, I would definitely recommend getting the book as it gives detailed information about the various functions of the NTS-2. People have described the NTS-2 as the Swiss Army knife for musicians, and they're not wrong. Whether you're into synthesizers or not, this device can be of use to you. If you're a Korg fan, it's a must have.
