The system is designed for studio work including a clock/timecode display, a numerical camera identification system, and a reference monitor for your talent.

The clock can display time of day, timecode, as well as count down/count up times. The numerical camera id system helps prevent confusion of talent not knowing which camera they are on. Both the clock and the camera id system are dual-color systems, which use Tally to indicate the active camera.

The reference monitor allows your on-air talent to see themselves in the monitor for performance adjustments, as well as allowing them to interact with blue/green screen composites.

The system is readable by your on screen talent from up to 45' away.

The prompter monitor features built-in l/R and up/down image flip.

The system comes with two different tripod mounting systems. The 1" diameter support rods mount to select tripod heads that feature 3/8"-16 threaded rod supports. If your pedestal/tripod head does not incorporate those threaded mounting holes, the included 23" mounting plate can be used instead.

Q: 1. How do these headphones do with glasses?

A: I wear glasses and have found these cans to be quite comfortable for extended listening sessions.

Q: 2. made in Japan or Taiwan?

A: This headphone was manufactured in Japan

Q: 3. What phones will the online remote work on?

A: The in-line remote will work with Apple and android phones. You will be able to answer and end calls. Other functions will vary, with no specific rule.

Q: 4. Are this headphones made of leather or vinyl?

A: Like everyone else said it is hard to tell. I would say Vynil but the quality is amazing. I use them to speech transcript, tone and segmental analysis and they are amazing!

Q: 5. Good day B&H. Can these headphones be used for HIFI music enjoyment listening like my HD650? Is the soundstage wider as well?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser HD 490 PRO Professional Reference Open-Back Studio Headphones can be used for music listening. "Soundstage" is not a technical or measurable concept. The HD 490 PRO have an open-backed design, similar to the HD 650, which provides a more natural listening experience than closed-back headphones, due to the lack of a proximity effect.

Q: 6. Are the two 'twigs' that hold each phone made of aluminum.... or the usual plastic junk that causes most headphones to eventually break when folded? I'm sick of replacing headphones.

A: We use these commercially (TV station) and they hold up well. 3+ years, 6 techs, in post, studio and field and still going strong.

Q: 7. Hi, can the audio cable be replaced with other regular cables?

A: The included cable is a dedicated type specifically designed to lock into place. Standard mini stereo cables will not fit.

Q: 8. Do you get the headphones pouch free with the headphones or is that separate

A: Yes the pouch is included. Very good headphones!

Q: 9. I know it says the earpads are "suede", but checking if that's real suede or synthetic? Thanks

A: The earpads on the Sony MDR-MV1 Open-Back Reference Monitor Headphones are made of a soft, synthetic suede-like material, not genuine suede leather.

Q: 10. Can these ATH-R70x headphones be properly powered by an iphone or do they need to be connected to an amplifier?

A: You wouldn't need an external amplifier these headphones. You could get better performance out of them if you did however.

[1920 x 1080] I took this one around 1.5 years ago. It is the best headphones that I used ever! Great quality of sound (extremely accurate and detailed sound reproduction), ergonomics, and the great feature to connect or disconnect the cable.

But it's important to say you, AKG. One thing that I don't like it is the lack of a solid case. Make it, please.

[Yes] If you want real, clear and colorful sound then take K712. The only alternative is K701, but you get what you pay for. For a week I tested a lot of models of Shure, Audio-Technica, Sennhiser, Alesis (terrible ones), AKG. Important note: Be sure, Sennheiser HD600 has nothing to do with the High-Fidelity. Too much bass and treble.

[1920 x 1080] I bought these 8 years ago an everytime I put them on I just smile and get all giddy. they sound so amazing. wish real life could sound this good haha but yeah if i had 1 downside id say for the money plastic anywhere isn't cool. but its not like i use them outside. by far best headphones i've ever heard and when playing some games the open back makes pin pointing foot steps in first person shooters almost fell like your cheating. 8 years now an i just put them on smiled again an looked them up to write this review. if you even thinking about them just do it and thank me later

[Steel] I had an older version of very much loved AKG reference headphones from the early '90s that were destroyed by my son... after many years of service, many of the plastic elements were held by mini bulldog clamps so good timing for an upgrade, thanks, son!

After listening to a lot of alternatives, many costlier, (although for the listening pleasure I have put cost on a low priority criteria scale) the K712 PRO was the right choice: better sound than my previous ones and still the same neutral yet accurate and true experience for my mostly classical and jazz listening. Paired with a SHIIT Bifrost DAC and Valhalla tube amp stack, every instrument is clearly distinct and spatially identifiable. You feel you are in the space with the musicians, be it in a studio or concert hall.

Also own a Grado PS500e - a warmer experience perhaps that I enjoy with a more "mobile" red Dragonfly DAC/Amp when working, but I find the AKG's neutrality better for the orchestral music I often listen to. And the comfort fit bears no comparison between them: I can wear the AKGs for hours - not so for the Grados

The open back was a must for me as I usually don't like (or need) to feel isolated. In the rare condition I need to withdraw from the surroundings I reluctantly use a Meze 99 classic walnut pair that match the comfort of the AKGs with an enjoyable sound stage but not close in accuracy to my preferred cans.

Minor detail: I replaced the velvet cushions with fabric covered AKG ones. Found the sound stage to be even more detailed.
The only criticism I would have is the elastic threads holding the headband. After a few years they show signs of fatigue and I don't know how easy it is to replace them. Not a big concern as the excellent comfort does not appear to be affected.

Headphone choice is a personal affair. Every ear is different, everyone's sound processing, taste and pleasure seeking is different. The K712 PRO are perfect for me.

[Trapezoidal] Bought for an open air, expansive sound and wasn't disappointed. One of my most comfortable headphones (out of 12 sets). Love the colorway. I custom made a shorter cable, about 4'.

[Trapezoidal] Detailed, engaging sound signature with good spacial imaging. Good base response. The K712s need a good Headphone Amp and DAC to perform at their best. Very comfortable.

[12 VDC at 4 A] It was time for a new pair of headphones, and I was looking for something affordable and comfortable. The Sennheiser 400 PRO Studio Reference Headphones are a great tool. These fit over my entire ear(great since I am suseptible to blackheads and sweat behind my ears) and are comfortable while working for extended periods. I am working on the final mixes of my most recent album, and these are helping me to accurately judge the balance and EQing of my songs even while working at modest volumns.

[12 VDC at 4 A] These are just great headphones. I wish they had the detachable cord, like the K702, but overall a spectacular bargain. I don't think they are quite as detailed as the K702, but I find the two close to indistinguishable. I slightly prefer the K612 for computer/television and the K702 for hi-fi, but I've gone back and forth and back and forth. For the price, the K612 is a no-brainer in my estimation.
