Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the FB paper be used with a ferrotype heat source?

A: Yes, you are able to ferrotype this paper.

Q: 2. How can you get this paper to dry flat and lint free? I've tried a blotter roll (unsuccessfulj); and a heated plate dryer (better but imperfect).

A: Here is my cheap solution. Drain off most of the water (I don't even squegee), dry face down on screen overnight. When dry I put in my kitchen oven, set at 170F; I put the photo between two clean mat boards, with rigid cutting boards underneath and on top, and something heavy on top of it all. Leave in for 30-45 min. I then put it in a book with weight on it for 24 hrs., which keeps it flat. Heat plus pressure, just like a dry mount press. More work, yes, but cheap and no big, expensive press.Richard

Q: 3. I've been using Multigrade IV RC DeLuxe Paper for a while. I wonder if there is a difference between Multigrade IV RC and Multigrade RC?

A: This Generation V paper features an updated emulsion with a more linear contrast profile that responds consistently and accurately to the full 00-5 range of Multigrade filters for fine tuning the look of prints. The paper also features a truly neutral base tint and responds especially well to different toning solutions for adjusting the final print color. The enhanced emulsion also affords deeper blacks along with enhanced mid-tone separation for greater flexibility when printing negatives of varying densities.

Q: 4. What is the ISO rating for this?

A: This Generation V paper features an updated emulsion with a more linear contrast profile that responds consistently and accurately to the full 00-5 range of Multigrade filters for fine tuning the look of prints. While film is given an ISO rating paper is not generally.

Q: 5. is this paper currently in stock?

A: This Ilford Multigrade FB Warmtone Fiber Base Paper is not currently in stock, no. It is a special order item, which would be non-cancelable and non-refundable. After placing the order, it would take an estimated 2-4 weeks for the paper to arrive and B&H and then ship out to you.

Q: 6. This is fiber based and not resin coated, right?

A: Correct. It is a heavier than normal fiber paper that tends to move to the warmer side, responds well to different developing agents, tones well and dries relatively flat.Try a few sheets. You may like it. Great for portraits.

Q: 7. Can you use this for photograms?

A: Yes, you can put objects on top of the paper, exposed the paper, and then process with the B&H developer and fixer.

Q: 8. Still have some Agfa Brovira 310rc, the paper is electric. Wonder how the Ilford Multigrade Cooltone compares?

A: The Ilford Multigrade Cooltone Resin Coated (RC) Black & White Paper (11 x 14', Glossy, 50 Sheets) is a variable contrast paper and will have a different look compared to the very old Agfa Broveria 310rc. Both are cool paper color but just different.

Q: 9. Will awesome prints made with Ilford Art 300 paper still look awesome under frame glass?

A: Yes, if you get higher end glass with anti reflective coating.

Q: 10. Does this work in normal paper developers?

A: Yes, this paper is compatible with normal D-76 black and white paper developers.

[Resin Coated] I use this paper for making contact prints from large format and ultra large format (11x14) film negatives. It produces excellent prints with deep blacks, is easy to process and dries quickly. Altogether it's my current favorite silver gelatin photo paper those that I have tried in recent years.

[Resin Coated] You can't go wrong with this paper - beautiful tonality and yet crisp and contrasty in just the right way. I'm getting beautiful, consistent results in the darkroom.

[Multigrade] The best part about this paper is the multiple finishes available (glossy, pearl, satin) depending on what you want. And they all expose the same in the darkroom so it's easy to switch between them for any given image you're printing.

[Negative] Works really well for contact sheets and other routine use, but I purchased this box to use for making paper negatives and it works great! Much easier to work with than fiber paper.

[Resin Coated] Ilford is considered the gold standard for a reason. My absolute favorite photo paper, and so much better then the alternatives. Ilford is also so simple to develop, and easy to use at home. I think Glossy looks best, but I have also used Matte with good results!

[190 gsm] With this paper it takes about a minute to a minute and a half for it to develop. I recommend it for any beginner photo student or advanced photographer. The glossy look is always recommended.

[Neutral] Ilford's 8.5x11 RC paper is the perfect size for contact prints, whether one is shooting 35mm or 4x5. No more cramped contacts missing the 37th frame on an 8x10 sheet. Using this product with 8.5x11 side loading clear pages I find the perfect way to organize, store negatives and contact sheets together in a binder.
