The Freedom Car Mount System from Matthews Studio Equipment allows you to mount a heavier cinema camera on a car, truck, boat, or other nonporous surfaces. It supports loads up to 80 lb and features an array of Matthews grip components to provide the necessary materials for a secure car rig.

Matthews has assembled this mounting hardware kit as an expandable platform for crafting complex but safe vehicle-based camera rigs. The lynchpin of the Freedom system is a 10" vacuum cup equipped with a 360° rotating grip head. This grip head then accepts two parallel Matthews Ricky Rods, modular 5/8" rods with 1/2"-13 threads to accommodate rigs large and small; eight 10" pieces and two right angle segments of Ricky Rod are included. From there, use the additional vacuum cups and grip heads to precisely position the swivel head camera mount, which features a standard hole pattern with holes and slots to mount cameras directly or using your dovetail slide plate. All the Freedom Car Mount system grip heads carry Matthews's standard large and easy-to-grip T-handles.

A: Nothing. The system is complete and ready to be used. Camera and RS2 will attach via 1/4 or 3/8 screw on ball head.

A: This has a 40 pound load capacity.

A: The manufacturer does not publish a speed limit for this product but it is always recommended that users secure the camera and entire rig with safety cables should it ever come free.

A: Yes it will.

A: Unfortunately, the Hydra Alien Car Mount has a Power Supply Baseplate that is only compatible with the DJI RS 2.

A: You could for small cameras.

A: No everyone add so many different adapters we did no make a case.

[Black / Red] This rig is nuts. Super easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of room. The main suction cup is larger than expected though, keep that in mind when traveling / packing. Also invest in some safety loops and straps to secure the camera and rig through a roof rack or a door. Have yet to test it with a larger camera but held a GH5 with vintage lenses perfectly. Bet this thing could hold a Red with ease. 5

[30 lb] If you need great looking running footage you need the mount. Triangulate and you can't go wrong holds up to 45LB and the smaller cups are useful for DSLR or GoPro Cameras also get the Magic Arm 5

[Steel] This Car Mount is the first car mount I have used and have to say it's very easy to use. Pros - Can set up in multiple angles as long as you have a flat surface. The suction cups are super strong. Tested it out at 110km/hr and worked perfect. Scary, but it was rock solid. The video isn't shaky like up and down, just a slight vibration shake from the road. Looks very natural. You can honestly put any camera or any rig set up on it. It will take 80 pounds. The video on how it sets it up is awesome. Learned a lot and applied it to different angles. Once you know how to set it up you could be rolling in 10 minutes or less. (No you do not have to put plastic on your car. We put it on a 67 Mustang and it's fine without protection) Cons - This things doesn't come with a bag or case. Like why give 20 separate parts and not give someone a bag or case? Luckily I had one that I got from somewhere else to put all the parts inside. For certain shots you have to puzzle it together to figure out how to rig it on your car. Not necessarily a con, but sometimes you can't think. For the price and cost it's well worth the investment. One of the best things you could buy for any car shooting. 5

[30 lb] This car mounting system is fantastic. Setup is super easy and takes just a few minutes. Once mounted, it's rock solid... every few minutes I would get out of the car to check and make sure the suction cups haven't lost any vacuum, and they seem to stay glued to the hood without a problem. And the ball head had no issues holding my Lumix BS1H camera with a cine lens in place. This is such a great rig to achieve professional looking results at a very reasonable cost! 5

[30 lb] We have had this car mount for about 2 months and have really put it through it's paces. We've loaded it down with different cameras from the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera up to the Blackmagic Production camera with a full cage and battery. As many times as we've used it, WE'VE NEVER USED POST STABILIZATION on the footage. That's massively impressive. WE LOVE THIS CAR MOUNT! 5

[Steel] We purchased this to use for car action sequences. A lot of flexibility and good sturdy mounting. Magic riser is a nice addition that needed to be purchased seperately (wish it was included). Very Happy with Matthews Products AAA+++ 5
