Da-Lite Motorized Scenic Roller Projection Screen 21x28’have a quiet, oiled-for-life motor as well as a thermal cutoff mechanism to prevent burnouts. The unique braking system prevents unwanted "coasting" when you want the screen to raise or lower to a specific position. This is a motorized version of Dalite's manual rope and pulley Scenic Roller.

A: Yes, this particular model, the Da-Lite 35177L Contour Electrol Motorized Projection Screen (90 x 160"), B&H # DA35177L, comes with a Da-Tex finish, which is a surface made for rear projection. Other Da-Lite projection screens may not have this rear projection finish.

[Non-tensioned] I use it in a classroom at a university. It's got a great surface, brilliant white, big and more than I expected. It looks like a big LCD screen on the wall, way cool. 5

[1:1] This is my fourth ALR (ambient light reflecting) screen. The first thing to know is, there are no miracle screens. There are good ALR screens, but none perform miracles. Even the best don't show a great picture in a really bright room. The second thing to know is, don't necessarily believe the promotional pictures and videos from manufacturers that show amazing screen performance. They have positioned the screens, projectors and cameras to show the screens at their very best. You are unlikely to duplicate this in a real world situation. Almost all ALR screens have, to one extent or another, a major problem – screen artifacts. Shimmering, hot spots, sparkles, grainy appearance and so on. In order to eliminate this problem I have owned four different screens. My newest one, which wasn't available when I first started my quest for better picture quality, the Da-Lite Parallax, has none of these problems. Zero! The Parallax probably doesn't have quite as good of ambient light rejection properties as some of the other screens, but with some light control and careful placement of light sources, you can still have light in the room and a great picture. A great artifact free picture is really important now that we have 4K material to watch. 5

[1:1] I installed in my living room in between ceiling joists. It works great. I use it with a Panasonic HD projector. It impresses everyone who walks in the room. Has a clean appearance when retracted. Note: it didn't come with a 12v trigger as both the B&H customer service rep and myself thought it did. We both misunderstood the description (it's optional.) The part was available at Da-Lite for $80 and came with no instructions. I got it to work after a few emails and chats with da-lite. Also, I ended up placing some holes in the top of the case to mount using 8 Lag bolts into the 2nd story floor structure. All the hardware that comes with it assumes you will have access to hang it from the top which requires access via the side while it's in it's final position. I was putting it in a hole the size of the case in my finished ceiling so that method would not work ( I would have had to remove and re-install a lot of drywall). I knew this before I purchased by reading the installation instructions so no worries just a fact and maybe a consideration for future changes to the case or just the directions. 5
