Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this work surface compatible with Pro Tools 11?

A: Behringer states the X-TOUCH series of controllers utilize Mackie Control and HUI protocols which are compatible with Pro Tools and most other major DAWs as well.

Q: 2. Does this work with Fairlight within Davinci Resolve?

A: Yes, the Mackie MCU Pro Expandable USB/MIDI Control Surface can be used as a control surface for Fairlight, however we recommend an option such as BH #BLFDC Blackmagic Design Fairlight Desktop Console USB Control Surface for the best functionality in this scenario: https://bhpho.to/33zWnLw

Q: 3. IT works with DaVinci Resolve 16?

A: No, this controller will not work with DaVinci Resolve. This is a controller for DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), not video.

Q: 4. Can it be used instead of a tablet to control XR16 X Air mixer?

A: Yes the Behringer X-TOUCH COMPACT Universal Control Surface can be used to control the Behringer X Air XR16.

Q: 5. Is this work with Adobe Audition? How can I set up between X-touch compact and Audition?

A: Not easily. Devices like this use embedded audio. The audio is embedded onto video. Without video, there is no audio. So . . . you'd have to have SDI video going in, and you'd have to take the output of your audio console and embed it into the video. All said . . . you probably need a different device for your needs.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Scratch?

A: no it will not work with assimilate scratch it is designed for Film light Only

Q: 7. Does this just trigger velocity, or could this be used to add expression, dynamics, panning, etc.?

A: The Expressive E Touché SE USB MIDI Control Surface provides dynamic control over your sound using your hands. It offers expression shifting with force feedback and you can adjust the sensitivity setting as well.

Q: 8. Is there a specified foot controller for this? What functions does a foot controller operate?

A: This is aplicable to Logic Pro: You can connect a momentary foot pedal—with either positive or negative polarity—to the foot switch sockets. By default, foot switches control the outlined functions: USER SWITCH A is assigned to Start/Stop. USER SWITCH B is assigned to Record. (Note that a track must be selected and armed for recording to take place.) EXTERNAL CONTROL is assigned to the MASTER fader level. Use only an expression pedal with this socket. The polarity of the foot switches is determined by the Mackie Control when powered up. You should first connect the foot switches, then turn on the Mackie Control.

Q: 9. How do I connect it to Beringer X Air XR16?

A: Using a MIDI cable (i.e.B&H # HOMM10), connect from the MIDI OUT of the X-TOUCH into the MIDI IN of the X Air XR16. You will probably need to make some parameter adjustments to the internal software of the X-TOUCH as it is primary purpose was not to be used with the XR16. Connect the X-TOUCH to a PC via USB, and use the edit software for the device to change the parameters to match controls functions on the XR16. Once you have done this, dump the software modification into the X-TOUCH and then proceed o connect the two devices with the MIDI cable.

[4.85 lb] I was looking at this as well as a Role and decided to go with this instead. I'm used to standard-sized keys and playing in standard positions. I can do everything the Role can do (IMO) without having to learn a new way to play.

The only hiccup was in setup. I downloaded the files but I couldn't get it working in Logic using their software. I downloaded the full version of Falcon, thinking that that would help, but it didn't.

Eventually, I found a tutorial on YouTube and got it working. I don't mind having the full version of Falcon either.

Looking forward to making beautiful, expressive music.

[4.85 lb] I like this MIDI controller. It is unique and has capabilities not found with regular pitch wheel type actions. Great for synth sounds but also can be very expressive when playing modeled acoustic instruments.

[4.85 lb] Have only used the X-Keys Controller for about a week now but it has greatly improved the workflow. Set up was as easy as it gets, just plug and play. Also, I really like the fact that it auto colour codes each channel strip in Wirecast. So far an awesome product!

[4.85 lb] It may be a tad on the expensive side(more than the Wirecast program itself) but for us running a two and soon-to-be 3 camera live stream for our church, this is simply a must-have! Our workflow has decreased dramatically and having the full controls of the Wirecast at your fingertips there is no choice. Get this switcher!

[4.85 lb] If you own the Mackie MCU Pro this is a no brainer!!! It’s expensive but it adds immediate value to your tracking and mixing capabilities. The only reason why I don’t own two of them is because I need the spare midi ports to plug up my MPC 2000XL and Nord Stage 3 into my MCU Pro! Do yourself a big favor and purchase one if you are on the fence. Once you get one you will immediately be glad that you did.

[4.85 lb] When Avid dropped support of their C24 and Control 24 the units were worthless overnight. So was the furniture that housed it. I decided to drop Avid hardware completely. I checked out an MCU Pro V3.0 about a year ago and hated the feel of the faders. I think at the time they used P&G. The updated 4.0.3 MCU Pro now has Alps faders which are every bit as smooth as sensitive as the Avid/Focusrite faders and the unit is clearly sturdier than Avid Artist Mix. ProTools 11 setup takes literally a few moments. It AMAZES me how Avid drops support for their own hardware, but continues support for third-party hardware. MCU also integrates perfectly with Studio One 3, my new production DAW. This unit is a winner. DON'T BUY USED. The older ones (V3.0) have resistant, noisy faders which can't be swapped. Avid forced me to change my style of production - for the better. Thank you, Avid, for encouraging me to shop elsewhere.

[4.85 lb] I have to admit that I was a little worried about investing in a control surface with all of the many choices that are available. I missed out on the C24 and finally came to the point of seriously needing a trusted control surface to help my work flow in my home studio. Mackie is the brand that we all know plus I have owned several of the old analog boards throughout my journey. Pro Tools and UAD hardware are my tools of choice. The MCU Pro solved my tracking and mixing needs and is the perfect bridge to my creativity. It requires a learning curve at first but once you get to know the controller and how it works it is an invaluable tool. 100 percent satisfied with my choice and financial investment for my studio. Definitely wish I had done this sooner.
