Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this glidecam only for 10 lb cameras?

A: i've seen people using this with gopros, which is probably around 1lb

Q: 2. Are you suppose to have image stabilization in the camera turned on when using the Glidecam?

A: There is no right or wrong answer here. However, if you notice any unwanted shaking, then it may be advantages to turn on the camera's stabilization. Depending on the camera's method of stabilization, it may crop the sensor slightly. That is something to consider before deciding.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this and the Devin Graham Glidecam?

A: The devin graham has more features and can do inverted mode with no problem they say

Q: 4. Can I use this with x-t1?

A: Yes, the Glidecam XR-PRO can be used with the Fujifilm X-T1.

Q: 5. Hey, is this usable for lumix lx 100? 393g. and is it easy to carry around?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Will this work with a C300 or an FS7?

A: This stabilizer has a load capacity up to 10 pounds. The Sony FS7 is 9.9 pounds before you add a lens, it will not work on this stabilizer. However the C300 weighs around 6 pounds, before a lens, and you can even strip it down a bit for it to weight less. It will be possible to use this stabilizer with the C300, if you keep the total weight under 10 pounds.

Q: 7. What is the total weigh of this? I am concerned it will be too heavy with a Nikon D800. Thanks!

A: The Glidecam XR-PRO Handheld Camera Stabilizer is large so it can fly large cameras of up to 10 lbs. Consequently it is large and heavy itself at 8.8lbs. So if you were to mount a Nikon D800 plus a heavy lens like the 24-70 f/2.8 (which together weighs approximately 4lbs/1.8kg) you wind up with a rig that weighs somewhere between 8 to 12 lbs. You may not like that much weight. Be that as it may, the reality is this Glidecam is actually too big for what you want to do. I would suggest the much smaller Glidecam HD2000 Stabilizer System With 577 QR Plate Kit B&H # GLHD2000K (B&H Kit). This stabilizer plus the Nikon 800 and lens would be about 6.5lbs, a much more do-able weight to carry for long takes. Now do understand that these kind of stabilizers rely on you and your operating skills as much as the stabilizer itself to create smooth moves. It does take time to learn how to balance and more time to learn how to effectively fly the rig. (Do not pull this out of it's box on the morning of your first job with it.) I will guarantee you, if you do take the time to acquire the skill, what you get is a very organic, fluid motion that cannot be achieved by other means.

Q: 8. Can I attach a monitor to the bottom? If so, how? Sorry I am new to this

A: You cannot attach a monitor to the bottom of this stabilizer. That is not how this unit is designed to operate.

Q: 9. Can some tell me the difference between the xr-pro and the hd2000? Using a canon 80d 18-135mm .. thanks

A: The principal difference between the two is the payload capacity. The XR-PRO can carry 10 lbs and the HD2000 can do 2-6 lbs. Your Canon 80D with a 18-135mm lens is well within the capability of the HD2000.

Q: 10. Is the top cheese plate removable? If so, does it have a 3/8 -16 thread so I can attach my own quick release, and shave weight from the top? Thanks!

A: The plate is removable, you can attach your own plate - any brand any size- Keep in mind the least weight, the longer you would handle your camera.

[31 x 12 x 12"] Although I have only used this rig twice since it arrived I am very impressed. Setup was easy. The action is incredibly smooth. This is a great rig for shooting dynamically.

[9.1 lb / 4.1 kg] i still prefer the freedom of using the oldschool stabilizer than the electronic gimbals.

[9.1 lb / 4.1 kg] I'm a filmmaker and the Glidecam XR-Pro is making my films so much better! The stabilized shots make everything so much better and smoother! Definitely worth it!

[9.1 lb / 4.1 kg] The headline pretty much says it all. I use it for that disconnected, floaty shot that usually eliminates any footprint that might come with a handheld. Read the manual, look up the tutorial, and practice with it. It'll serve as a fair tool.

[31 x 12 x 12"] I got this because my Ronin-M has to be sent back for service. Why? Because some water splashed on one of the gimbal motors. Yes, I wasn't supposed to be filming at the beach, and thought I would be careful enough with it. Anyhow, while the Ronin flies to Germany or China for DJI repair, I needed something in the meantime and saw the new XR-PRO. For less than the cost of a new gimbal motor, I could have a stable rig for my GH4 + 12-40 f/2.8 + RODE mic. Not bad. I got it, and after watching a few YouTube videos on how to stabilize it - it is an absolute peach to work with. So much easier to work with than the Ronin - and I have far more control over the look of a shot than the Ronin. It also is easier to cart around without needing an assistant to bring the Ronin stand for me everywhere I needed to set down the Ronin. It also is at a more natural height for shots, and allows me to see the monitor on my GH4 naturally without needing a remote monitor feed like I do on my Ronin. So far, very much enjoying the Glidecam and recommend it - particularly at this price point!

[12.3 lb] Great price for a great product! Perfect for heavier DSLRs. Takes a little getting used to but I'm already getting some fantastic professional looking shots. Also take the time to learn how to balance it properly. It'll take a couple extra minutes during each set up but it's 100% worth it.

[12.3 lb] I use this with a Canon 7d for video. The setup was straight-forward and easy to understand (though I did track down some instructional videos on Vimeo). Fine tuning takes some time, but once it is dialed in, it is so smooth. I'm still practicing with using it (and building up more forearm strength in the process), but look forward to get it in on some projects soon.
