Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the thread on the 100mm side? 0.75 or 1.0?

A: The thread on both sides is 1.0 mm or coarse.

Q: 2. is this 43x0.5 or 43x0.75?

A: The Heliopan 43-46mm Step-Up Ring (#243) has a 0.75 thread pitch.

Q: 3. Exactly what does this weigh?

A: Not a lot

Q: 4. Hi, do you know if this lens will fit a Lomo 16-opf-12-1 Zoom 10-100mm? The thread seems to be around 75mm but I'm not sure.

A: Unfortuantely, we are not sure. It appears the LOMO 16OPF 12-1 Cine zoom lens 10-100/2.5 16mm lens is an older Russian lens that has since been discontinued. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any information listing the filter thread size for this lens.

Q: 5. Hi what is the outer diameter of this Step-up Ring?Actually I am looking for a Push-on lens cap...Any brand that you recommend, which fits?Thank you

A: Rather than a push-on cap, you will be better off using a Hood Hat type of covering, such as those seen at the following link: http://bhpho.to/1w9ZAZT

Q: 6. What is the thickness of this filter in mm, especially the outside 82mm diameter portion?

A: The thickness of this step up ring is about 4mm.

Q: 7. Hi, could you tell me the difference between Sensei and Sensei Pro step-up rings? Why the difference of prices?

A: The pro ring has knurled edges and a hardened matte black surface for minimal glare and reflection.

Q: 8. Hi ... What is the difference between the Heliopan #143 62/77mm Step-Up Ring, and the Heliopan #144 62/77mm Step-Up Ring??? The descriptions do not say ... other than price, of course. ...Robert G.

A: The Heliopan ring, # 700-144 is a special model that can accept both 77mm threaded filters, as well as Series 8.5 type filters. Our product link for this model on our website is slowly being changed to reflect the new information we received about it since receiving your inquiry.

Q: 9. Is this coarse or regular thread?

A: This ring has standard threads.

Q: 10. Will this fit a Fuji X30?

A: No, the Sensei PRO 40.5-52mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring will not fit the front thread of the Fujinon X30 camera because the front thread of the non interchangeable X30 lens is an unusual 40mm, not 40.5mm. The FUJIFILM X20 Lens Hood and Filter Set for X10, X20, or X30 Camera: https://bhpho.to/2WTA0sh features a step up ring 40mm to 52mm. It is the only step up ring that will fit the front thread of the Fujinon X30 lens.

[37 mm to 43 mm] I have older version of Leica R 35/2 lens. It takes 48mm filters or I can use step-up rings for 52mm or any larger size filters. Well, the problem is that 48mm filters can be hardly found. If I did find them, they are very expensive. So I purchased 48-52mm step up ring by Heliopan that is what I review now. Heliopan step up rings are fantastic, because they are brass rings, not aluminum ones. They will not bind nor cross thread either. I have all sort of step up rings by B+W, but they are anodized aluminum. I don't trust their rigidity. Also they sometimes are stuck with filter rims, so binding is a real problem with any brand name step-up, -down rings as long as they are made from aluminum. Heliopan 48-52 mm ring is a bit heavy, but I like its solid feel and it gives me a worry free confidence from binding or cross thread. It will last than any filters or myself for that matter!

[0.05 lb] Well made and sturdy. I got it as a make-shift hood for the tiny Panasonic 12-32mm which does not come with a hood for its minuscule 37mm filter thread. Although a 37-52mm step-up ring might make more sense depending on what filters or polarizers you want to attach.
