The integral component within a modular system, this 46" long set tube amplifierfrom set tube amplifieris used to construct customized panels in sizes ranging from 1 x 1' to 8 x 8'. When paired with optional fabrics, such as silks or diffusers, frame tubes form the rigid support from which fabrics are attached to create flags, diffusion panels, book lights, v-flats, or numerous other light controlling tools.

This tube is constructed from anodized aluminum alloy and heavy-duty hook-and-loop tape is riveted to two sides of the tube for attaching fabrics. A 3/8"-16 threaded mount is incorporated into the tube for mounting atop stands and additional dedicated self-locking connectors are used to combine several pieces of tube to create flat 2D frames or dynamic 3D light shaping tools.

Tube measures 46" long and can be added to additional tubes through the use of dedicated, self-locking connectors.

Anodized aluminum-alloy construction and self-locking connectors both help to maintain rigid, reliable frame configurations in various sizes up to 8 x 8'.

Hook-and-loop tape is riveted onto two sides of the tube and is used for attaching a variety of fabric types to the frame system.

A: Yes. extensions tubes allow even greater magnification, because they move the lens father away from the film plane. Tubes are very handy, because you can just keep them in your bag, if you do a lot of macro shooting. You can stack them for greater magnification. Depending on what you are shooting and how much, a bellows may be a better option. A bellows gives you more flexibility, because you have a continuous change in magnification, without having to change tubes. The bellows expands, or contracts, depending on your needs. Some can also tilt, or shift.

[1 lb] Works exactly as advertised. I was able to get some great macro shots using these. Of course, compared to a dedicated macro lens, you will lose the ability to focus to infinity (i.e. with these attached, you can ONLY focus closely). 5

[1 lb] I wanted to get into macro photography, but didn't want to spend over $1,000 for a macro lens. These extension tubes are great. They are well built, let me focus about an inch away from my subject (using all 3 tubes) and work well. I've only used them for a couple of hours in a light tent, and they are great. I will be trying them outside when the weather clears. 5

[48 x 4.5 x 4.5"] I was very interested in getting into macro photography, but did not want to spend hundreds of dollars for a dedicated lens at this point. I decided on extension tubes. After reading many reviews, I found these Vello tubes. They are wonderful for my needs, and sturdier than I expected. I have no trouble getting them on/off the camera/lenses, and they fit well with no looseness. I enjoy the flexibility of the various combinations of focal length. For a minimal price, I can use these extension tubes with my Canon 70D, using either a Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens (at 50-85mm) or Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM (at 55-100mm or so). Auto-focus works fairly well with these extension tubes, but sometimes manual focus is required. A tripod is a must for my equipment, as my lenses aren't very fast, but that's ok. Of course, with longer exposure times comes the frustration of moving subjects, e.g., flowers, on even a slightly windy day. With a lightbox, this won't be an issue. The extension tubes are a nice addition to my camera bag. 5

[48 x 4.5 x 4.5"] Are they as good as the Nikon extension tubes? No. But honestly, you need to take price into account when you're buying and reviewing. I believe the Nikon tubes are $200. plus for a single tube / ring. So this set is less than 1/6 the price. Unless you are a full time macro photographer who uses extension tubes constantly, I don't think it makes sense to drop that much $ when these are perfectly serviceable pieces of gear. These rings attach nicely without binding or grinding my cameras' bayonet mounts. First - do no harm, right? The materials are metal and plastic. It's probably an inferior plastic than the Nikon rings. The release buttons work fine. Time will tell if they'll hold up. As the only moving part, that's probably the only thing that could fail. Only other comment is on the auto focus. These allow your camera's auto focus to function when using the tubes. In auto focus mode, I found that focus was very slow and the camera persistently hunting for focus. Not having a set o Nikon tubes on hand to compare them to, I don't know whether this is a problem with this brand or just using extension tubes in general. What makes this a non-issue for me is that when I'm shooting close up work, I'm always in manual focus. 5
