The MGW Ace Encoder offers various input options including 3G, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, DVI, HDMI and Composite video as well as analog and digital audio (embedded and discrete). A built-in video matrix enables routing of video sources to both the HEVC and H.264 compression cores for generating streams in both H.265 and H.264 formats. The on-board hardware scaler can be used for real-time downscaling, frame-sampling and flexible cropping options delivering the most optimized video output for your application.

MGW Ace Encoder's HEVC compression and streaming capabilities allows broadcasters, A/V teams, corporate IT as well as military forces and government agencies to reduce Operating Expenses (OPEX) for video streaming projects while managing demand for more video services and requests for higher quality video on existing bandwidth capability.

The industrial-grade design combined with the low-power consumption allows high quality Full Motion Video streams to be delivered from the field through the most constrained network links. The secondary H.264 compression core allows government and military forces to deploy ISR encoding solution while continuing to support legacy end-points and older IPTV receive suites.

MGW Ace Encoder can be used as stand-alone or integrated seamlessly into a Turn-Key HEVC solution. VITEC's comprehensive HEVC product offering includes encoders and streaming appliances, IPTV decoding appliances, video portal for distribution, archiving and playback, desktop and mobile video players in addition to PCI cards with SDK for integration projects.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the latency of the conversion?

A: Users have reported a latency between 150-200ms.

Q: 2. Looking at streaming to YouTube with limited bandwidth. I'd like to use H.265 to retain visual quality but that is only available on YouTube livestreams with HLS ingest. I see this device supports HTTP streaming, is that the same as HLS (.m3u8)?

A: HTTP and HLS are, indeed, synonymous.

Q: 3. Can this receive a YouTube Live stream and decode it?

A: This will not be able to decode a Youtube Live Stream. This is meant to work with an encoder like the Osprey Talon G2 H.264 Encoder, BH #OSTG2ENC.

Q: 4. This product works in Standard Definition (SD)?

A: Yes, it supports a wide range of resolutions automatically starting from 640 x480@60Hz up to 1920 x 1200@60Hz and can be forced to a specific resolution from the Receiver unit using PC Software.

Q: 5. How many camera licenses come with the unit?

A: This NVR comes with 8 camera licenses.

Q: 6. Can this product stream 3 streams simultaneously WITH EACH STREAM HAVING A DIFFERENT BITRATE?

A: Yes it can. Each output stream can be configured independently on the UI of the Osprey Talon G2 H.264 Encoder.

Q: 7. Is there DYNDNS support?

A: Yes, the AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder does support DYNDNS.

Q: 8. Will this work with Zoom, YouTube and Facebook?

A: The AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder is compatible with RTMP and RTMPS streaming protocols which are used by Zoom, YouTube and Facebook for streaming.

Q: 9. I would like to stream an HDMI source over a local network to a smart TV and computer. Will this stream in HLS, be available to multiple devices on my LAN, and be playable in a standard browser with no additional decoding software or hardware? Thanks in advance!

A: The AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder does provide HTTP(HLS) protocol. The following protocols are provided in the device for streaming applications and decoders: RTMP/HTTP/RTSP/UNICAST/MULTICAST/RTP/SRT

Q: 10. I have an IP camera that can generate h.264 rtp multicast streams. Can the Osprey G2 decode from an IP camera?

A: Yes it should as this decodes H.264 RTP/UDP multicast and unicast streams.

[16 to 48 kHz] Bought this and its matching rx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included.
60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P.
50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i.
The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps.
However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices.

[Stereo and mono] The Osprey is quite versatile and reliable. We have purchased dozens of the G1 & G2 encoders for use throughout numerous facilities in our extensive network. Our primary use is for multicasting, but we also do a number of unicasts and YouTube streams.
Osprey tech support is so helpful and knowledgeable, which is another huge selling point.
We have used numerous other manufacturers products (HaiVision, Evertz, Ensemble Design, and Lynx). All of them work fine but Osprey offered the best quality and reliability for the price.

[16 to 48 kHz] I bought this for transferring VHS to USB. The device works great, I just need a good scaler.

It works in SD and HD modes and will not see a EXFAT USB drive. It must be NTSF or Fat 32 of if your a MAC guy you might need something else.

Also, in FAT 32, it will capture continuously, but it will cut your videos into 2GB bits.

[Stereo and mono] A solid choice for personal cloud storage, and with a lot of extra apps and features that can integrate with smartphones as well as computers. The SSD option does seem to speed up the access for frequently used files, and the newer CPU is better suited to this device's role than in previous models.

[Stereo and mono] Use this produce to record my tribute band in concert. Terrific sound recording capability and great video quality. Very easy to use and navigate. Love that it can record video and audio as separate files for editing later on. Definite two thumbs up!!!

[Stereo and mono] We use this in our storm chaser to capture our feed before it goes out through our LiveU backpack. When recording, saves the footage to a 256GB USB (SanDisk Ultra 3.0). It saved us numerous times when the backpack would go in and out of service. This recorder never missed a frame when recording to the USB. It works so well we bought a second one. It does it a little warm during extended use but that doesn't affect the performance.
