The h.264 digital video recorderfrom h.264 digital video recorderuses HEVC/H.264 compression that allows users to stream broadcast quality 1080p video with up to 50% bandwidth savings compared to H.264 standards. The MGW ACE offers various video input interfaces including HD-SDI, SD-SDI, HDMI, DVI, and Composite. Additionally, it features a user-intuitive web management software with full control of all H.265 compression settings. A secondary hardware based MPEG4-H.264 chip offers the ability to stream H.264 video in parallel to the network-efficient HEVC to support legacy systems.

[16 to 48 kHz] Bought this and its matching rx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included. 60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P. 50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i. The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps. However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices. 5

[Stereo and mono] The Osprey is quite versatile and reliable. We have purchased dozens of the G1 & G2 encoders for use throughout numerous facilities in our extensive network. Our primary use is for multicasting, but we also do a number of unicasts and YouTube streams. Osprey tech support is so helpful and knowledgeable, which is another huge selling point. We have used numerous other manufacturers products (HaiVision, Evertz, Ensemble Design, and Lynx). All of them work fine but Osprey offered the best quality and reliability for the price. 5

[16 to 48 kHz] I bought this for transferring VHS to USB. The device works great, I just need a good scaler. It works in SD and HD modes and will not see a EXFAT USB drive. It must be NTSF or Fat 32 of if your a MAC guy you might need something else. Also, in FAT 32, it will capture continuously, but it will cut your videos into 2GB bits. 5

[Stereo and mono] A solid choice for personal cloud storage, and with a lot of extra apps and features that can integrate with smartphones as well as computers. The SSD option does seem to speed up the access for frequently used files, and the newer CPU is better suited to this device's role than in previous models. 5

[Stereo and mono] Use this produce to record my tribute band in concert. Terrific sound recording capability and great video quality. Very easy to use and navigate. Love that it can record video and audio as separate files for editing later on. Definite two thumbs up!!! 5

[Stereo and mono] We use this in our storm chaser to capture our feed before it goes out through our LiveU backpack. When recording, saves the footage to a 256GB USB (SanDisk Ultra 3.0). It saved us numerous times when the backpack would go in and out of service. This recorder never missed a frame when recording to the USB. It works so well we bought a second one. It does it a little warm during extended use but that doesn't affect the performance. 5
