The P-1 from A-Designs is a 500 Series, solid-state microphone preamplifier that captures the sound of the legendary Quad Eight Pacifica console, offering a big, warm tone without being dark, and a sweet, open top end. The preamp features a unique DI signal path that utilizes two transformers for added depth and a richer tone. The custom-wound Cinemag transformers are of a proprietary design by A-Designs.

The P-1 offers an ultra-wide bandwidth of 9 Hz to 101 kHz with less than 1% distortion, resulting in rich, harmonic content, while reducing in-band phase shifts for more realism. The preamp features a phase reversal switch, -20 dB pad, and 48V phantom power, while the 72 dB of quiet gain is more than enough for ribbon microphones. The P-1 is handmade in the USA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this power supply dual voltage and hrtz?

A: Based on what we can tell, this power supply would be dual voltage and dual hertz.

Q: 2. Will this attach to a cage if I'm using, say, an A7sii?

A: I use this pan/tilt mount on my ronin-m and the cage I have for my camera. All you need is a hot or cold shoe adapter on your rig to attach it to. In my opinion, this pan/tilt mount is well worth the money, and provides the fastest and easiest way to adjust or position your on-camera monitor on your rig.

Q: 3. How many stops of light do you lose using this soft box?

A: The Dracast softbox for X-Series 500 provides a 1 1/2 stop of light light loss.

Q: 4. is this worth it even if the turntable has built in preamp?

A: If your turntable has a built-in phono preamp, then this pre is not required. The benefit to using an external phono preamp is usually based in the coloring of the sound it brings to the output of the record. External phono preamps of good quality, such as this, can offer more depth and clarity to the audio signal. As well, the cartridge impedance selector on this device can help you get the most out of the cartridge used.

Q: 5. does it come with a grid?

A: The Dracast softbox for X series 500 does NOT come with A grid.

Q: 6. Are the input and output impedances in this description correct? They're backwards from other the other Bellari preamp, and mismatched for common turntable cartridges as far as I can tell, but exactly backwards so I bought something else. I wanted this one, but since the company did not respond to my question, I did not buy one. Maybe someone has one and can test it.

A: Yes. The listed input and impedances of: Input: 47 K ohm (high impedance) and Output: 32 ohms(low impedance) These are the correct specs and typical (though the output impedance is lower than most phono pre-amps.

Q: 7. Will this fit under the dash of my '67 Mustang: I can power it with an inverter! How many amps will it draw? Thanks

A: We are not in the mobile car audio business so we donot have specifications for your car. Please verify this device's dimensions for a compatible fit prior to purchasing.Approximate dimensions: (W x D x H) 1.50 x 6.89 x 5.32 (3.81 x 17.5 x 13.5 cm)

Q: 8. Is this hardware version 1.1? If so it will have dip switches on back of unit. This allows home theater bypass.

A: The SPL Elector Preamp has 4 dip switches on the back. This and further details can be found on the SPL product page for the Elector Preamp, linked here: https://spl.audio/en/spl-produkt/elector/

Q: 9. Looking for a softbox that will fit a Dracast DRX500BN. What can I use?

A: Yes, the Dracast Softbox for X-Series 500 is a perfect solution for the Dracast unit.

Q: 10. Is the front diffuser fabric or plastic?

A: The front diffuser on the Dracast Softbox for LED 500 Pro / Studio / Plus Series seems like it is made of fabric.

[9 x 7 x 4"] With every device having a different battery, the Watson system provides a great solution for having one battery charger and different plates to accommodate the batteries. The plates are a perfect fit for the batteries and allow me to charge two different kinds of batteries at the same time. I really like this system.

[EIN: -128 dB] This unit sounds amazing, I use it on vocals and set the EQ just enough to add some color on the highs. But this unit is definitely staying in the studio.

[9 x 7 x 4"] I needed to carry less junk when traveling to take photos. Between my car camera, pocket camera, main camera and backup I had a large box of battery chargers. As some of my camera grips take two batteries the amount of charges needed took a lot of room. With the Watson chargers and appropriate interchangeable plates I can charge any of my batteries and all that capability does not take up much space or weigh much. With the DC charger cord I can charge any of my batteries as I drive and make sure to have the full capability of my cameras when I arrive on location. I have three chargers, each with the ability to charge anyone of my five battery types. One of the chargers, with adapter plates, always stays in my car. The others are used at home or taken along when on longer trips. An excellent product at a good price point. Now if they just had an adapter plate to charge AA and AAA batteries.
