Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with the tripod mount that connects to your tripod, or just the "tripod adapter ring" as seen paired with the RF 100mm tripod collar https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1634537-REG/canon_4517c001_unit_tripod_mnt_ring_adptr.html? On Canon's website it doesn't say that it's included.

A: No, The following unit is just equipped with a tripod collar. Quick release plates are sold separately here is a list of compatible plates https://bhpho.to/3DTgJgO

Q: 2. Will the lens work in my canon mark 4

A: No. The following lens is made for RF canon mount bodies only.

Q: 3. What size cine gear will fit on the focus and zoom rings of this RF 70-200 lens? Need the focus and ring circumferences in mm.

A: The focus ring on the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens is about 90mm so this Cavision gear would fit nicely: https://bhpho.to/3FPR4I5

Q: 4. is this compatible with the Canon Extender EF 2X II ?

A: No, the RF 70-200 f/2.8 L is not compatible with the Canon Extender EF 2X II. The Canon Extender EF 2X II only works on EF lenses. Additionally, this RF 70-200 f/2.8 is not compatible with any extender. Consider using an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 or the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z Lens with a Canon Extender RF 2X.

Q: 5. Is it possible to use an adapter on a Canon M50 to use the RF 70-200?

A: I'm sorry, no, there is no such adapter available for that combination.

Q: 6. Does the RF lens are comparable with the Canon 5DMKIII?

A: No, this will not work. This also cannot be adapted to work on any EF-Mount camera. The flange distance of the RF mount is much shorter than the EF-Mount, and so cannot be adapted. There is no way to use this lens on an EF-Mount camera.

Q: 7. Dose it fit on 5d mark 4 directly without mount

A: Hi, this lens is compatible with the Canon R and Canon RP mirrorless cameras, but it is not compatible with the 5D IV or any other EF-mount camera. There are no adapters at this time for mounting an RF lens to an EF camera.

Q: 8. is the lens an US version, coming in a factory-sealed box? Thanks, Kevyn

A: Yes, it has a USA warranty.

Q: 9. Where is this lens made

A: The Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens country of origin is Japan.

Q: 10. What material is the lens barrel made out of?

A: The barrel of this lens is made out of a plastic carbonate material.

[0.18 lb] I have used Canon cameras and lens for over 40 years and this new RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens is the best I have ever owned. It is one of the fastest and sharpest that makes my photos Pop. It is considerably lighter than my other go to lens that covers this range. Combined with the Canon EOS R5 camera that I recently purchased from B&H I am really enjoying this fall and early winter outside taking photos.

[0.18 lb] I was hesitant with purchasing this lens mostly for the price. I always buy my lens used or refurbished which helps save money. This was my most expensive lens purchase to date and I was considering the f4 after watching reviews of both the f4 and 2.8. I can't say much about the f4 since I've never used this one but the f2.8 is absolutely insane! Once I pulled it out of the box and started shooting my jaw hit the ground. I still believe the f4 is fully capable of suiting any needs as well if you're one of those people who's just trying to squeeze by from having to spend the money I say go f2.8. It's worth the money!

[0.18 lb] It's not that exciting to buy a new lens when you already have one. I've used the 70-200 EF mount for centuries. The RF lenses are SO much FASTER with focusing than EF mount lenses. Once you start converting everything over you won't want to go back.

[0.18 lb] I've been using this lens for 2 years and it works as advertised. The focus is fast and accurate with both stationary and moving subjects. The images are sharp and have great micro contrast to make the images pop even more. The only downside would be that it is not an internal zoom, but so far, I haven't had any problems with dust or moisture. I highly recommend this lens for anyone needing the focal length. It has not let me down.

[0.18 lb] What a great little lens. Having come from the EF system, I really like the compactness of this lens. Not only is it smaller, but it is lighter.

[0.18 lb] I have several canon lens and they are exceptional quality lens. I e never had problems with any of them during the past 30 yrs. Furthermore the support staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.
I use to be a Nikon owner and own many camera bodies and lenses and though it’s high quality equipment, I believe Canon has an edge on them.
I also use Leica cameras/equipment but it’s not as versatile as Canon.

[0.18 lb] Upgraded from the EF version and this blows it away in sharpness. Great for video too. Fast focusing, tracks well and renders beautifully. Well worth the cost.

[0.18 lb] Amazing is all that I can say of this lens. The build quality is top class and the lens feels good weight in hand and not too heavy. Performance wise it is superb. Photos are vibrant colors, sharp and the IS feature is just amazing where needed. Overall one cannot ask for more in a lens that Canon has already packed in it. For the price it is great buy considering the results will astonish avid photographer too.

[0.18 lb] The size for this lens is just perfect for travel: slightly larger than the RF 24-70 when not extended. If you come from EF 70-200, you will love the size reduction. But do notice you will rotate zoom ring a bit more to reach 200mm compared to EF version.

[0.18 lb] I absolutely love how compact the lens is. It has allowed me to open up an extra section in my kit to carry something else. It is also a full lb lighter than the EF 70-200 2.8 which was what I was using before! Absolutely incredible and I don't have to feel like I'm at the gym while working.
One small downside is that it has a longer throw for zooming. You will have to turn a bit more so this will slow things down a little bit however that is nothing that experience won't solve.
