The black CBT 100LA-LS Line-Array Column Loudspeaker from JBL contains 16 drivers (2” each) and features the Constant Beamwidth Technology which utilizes complex analog delay beam-forming and amplitude-tapering to achieve consistent vertical coverage, avoiding narrow vertical beaming and out-of-coverage lobing. The vertical pattern coverage is switchable between 40° for medium-throw coverage and 15° for long-throw applications. This EN54:24 certified loudspeaker comes with a built-in 70/100V transformer, plus 8 ohms direct capability.

I just installed two of these, along with suitable wall treatments, in a gymnasium that was converted into a church auditorium. They perform great. The variable beam width and asymmetrical vertical pattern put the sound where I needed it and kept it off the walls and ceiling. Their size doesn't make them look like speaker arrays - they almost disappear into the room.
I added the low frequency extensions to fill out the spectrum. They ARE NOT rock concert speakers.
When properly installed in a space, they are a perfect solution to difficult sound control situations.
I would install them again in the proper application!

So called experts who diss them don't know what they are doing.

I have been using the L1s for well over a decade, around the building in spaces large and small, and outside for gatherings of all sizes. The brilliance of this speaker in delivering consistent sound to people anywhere in the room is hard to capture in words, other than 'magic'! This new version manages to pack the same robust sound into just 8 speakers, seriously reducing the footprint of the previous model, as well as solving some of my issues with blocking the bottom set of speakers with a chair on the previous model. The wireless capabilities are taking the old remote control onto a new level, and I am very excited about bluetooth addition.

Installed 8 of these speakers in a church of 500 w/ balcony. Absolutely phenomenal sound. The deep feature is fabulous. Great tonality and clarity, with warm lows. Plenty of overhead power. Very pleased with this purchase. Thanks B&H

I love this speakers, I will admit they will scream when pushed hard which is why I bought another set so I can get more coverage pushing less. They have never gone into limit nor have I had any issues at all. I am getting old so they are a little tough to lift so bring a friend! I do use them over the VRX918SP subs and again excellent. I highly recommend them with the tops as they have a built in crossover with DSP to tune them really well making a very fast plug and play.

I had and old L1 Pro8 but this L1 PRo 16 is out of the world. I just use midle volume because is explosive with the best quality in the sound and the voices.

I love this kit! The footprint is only as big as the bass unit, so no cumbersome stand-mounted speakers to fiddle with. I like that there are three inputs built in, so you can do more with this version than you could with the previous version without also buying an external mixer.

I use this for acoustic guitar and vocals, both of which are first run through a TC Helicon. I know it sounds great that way, but have not yet tested it without the Helicon. With my current kit, I definitely sound better than I really do.

For now, this is set up in my dining room, and I'm playing for an imaginary audience. But as soon as I'm up for it, I no longer have the excuse that I don't have the gear to do a proper gig. I have other excuses, but am working on those, too.

Down side? The box was mangled pretty badly by the time FedEx made the delivery three days late, but nothing inside was damaged. For $1,800, it would have been nice for Bose to include a cover for the bass unit along with the very nice carrying case that was included for the stick speaker units. Also, I love the bluetooth remote controls that mimic the controls on the back of the bass unit, but it would be nice if there was a master volume control included. As it is, you have to adjust each input separately.
